The City of Moreton Bay fills the ground between Brisbane's northern suburbs and the Sunshine Coast. It began on 15 March 2008, when the City of Redcliffe merged with the Pine Rivers and Caboolture shires, and took its current name in July 2023. It had 476,340 residents at the 2021 census; council now puts the population near 500,000 and describes the city as the third-largest local government in Australia by population, with 94 suburbs across more than 2,045 square kilometres and 294 kilometres of coastline and waterways. It's a separate city from Brisbane, but many businesses work on both sides of the boundary; our northside page covers the Brisbane suburbs just to the south, and web design in Brisbane covers the capital as a whole.
Council's investment site describes the economy through six business precincts, and each has its own character. Caboolture, with about 24,610 local jobs, leans on medical, education and retail work. Strathpine, with 21,630, is mainly retail. Redcliffe's 19,870 jobs are mostly in medical, tourism and accommodation. North Lakes mixes retail and offices across 16,660 jobs, Brendale's 15,450 are industrial, and Petrie is built around education and retail. A Strathpine shop, a Redcliffe motel and a Brendale engineering workshop share a council, but they need very different websites.
Manufacturing is bigger here than many people expect. In October 2026 council put the sector's total sales at $5.2 billion for 2024/25, including $2.1 billion in domestic and international exports, in a local economy it values at $26.9 billion, and named Caboolture, Narangba, North Lakes and Brendale as its four high-growth industrial precincts, all near the Bruce Highway. The mayor also said council was turning away 60 per cent of industrial land inquiries. Out west, Wamuran's warm, frost-free winters and loamy soils suit pineapples; council's investment site says more than a quarter of Australia's pineapple crop is grown in Moreton Bay and values food and agribusiness at $1.8 billion. Firms like these often sell to other businesses, or straight to the public from the farm gate, so a clear product list, an enquiry form that asks the right questions, or a small online store usually does more for them than a showy home page.
Visitors spend more than $1.1 billion a year in the city, according to the same investment site. Redcliffe, the site of Queensland's first European settlement in 1824, has been a seaside resort since the 1880s; the Sunday markets along Redcliffe Parade draw crowds in the thousands, and its September festival includes KiteFest. Bribie Island, joined to the mainland by bridge since 1963, has an ocean beach at Woorim and a calm passage side at Bongaree and Bellara. Inland, the Woodford Folk Festival is one of the events that council says together bring more than 200,000 visitors a year. Businesses on the island and the peninsula often serve holidaymakers and long-time locals at once, so opening hours, readable text and a tap-to-call button come before anything clever.
The city is still filling up. Council expects about 200,000 more residents over the next 20 years. The University of the Sunshine Coast opened its Moreton Bay campus at Petrie in 2020 on the former Amcor paper mill site, within a priority development area that planning documents expect to support up to 6,000 jobs and around 10,000 university students. People who've just moved in don't have a regular plumber, dentist or café yet, and a site that names their suburb tells them at once that you're nearby. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St and work with Moreton Bay businesses by phone and email; we don't hold meetings in person.
