Booking Website Design for Small Businesses

Websites that let a customer pick a time and, where it suits you, pay as they book. We build booking and payment systems into the site, quoted per job, or put a Book button on every page that opens the booking tool you already use.

What a booking website has to get right

Online booking takes a customer from deciding they want an appointment to holding a confirmed time, without anyone picking up the phone. Before a customer commits, though, they want four answers: what exactly they're booking, what it costs, what happens if their plans change, and whether the slot they chose is really theirs. A good booking site gives all four on the way to the button.

  • Built into the site, or linked to the tool you have

If you already take bookings through HotDoc, Cliniko, Fresha, Calendly, OpenTable or something similar, the simplest answer is a Book button on every page that opens it, and your system keeps running the calendar. If you have nothing yet, or your tool doesn't suit the way you work, we build a booking and payment system into the website itself, quoted per job.

  • Instant booking, or a request you confirm

Fixed-length appointments such as a consult, a class or a discovery call suit instant booking. Work that needs checking first, like a job you have to quote, a trip that depends on the weather or a group booking, suits a request: the customer picks a preferred date and you confirm it. Cape Fishing Charters takes booking requests through a form on its one-page site.

  • Prices next to the button

Resolve Forward sets out priced packages linked to online booking, so a client sees the cost before choosing a time. If you charge a booking fee, business.gov.au's guidance on displaying prices says the total must appear as a single figure, as noticeable as any part price shown.

  • Deposits, changes and no-shows, stated before payment

How much is paid at booking, when the balance falls due, how much notice you need to move or cancel, and what happens if someone doesn't arrive. These go on the booking page in plain words, and they have to match what the system actually charges, or the first refund request turns into an argument.

  • Only the questions you need

Name, phone, email, the service and whatever you genuinely need to prepare. Personal details collected through a booking form can bring privacy obligations: the OAIC says the Privacy Act generally doesn't cover businesses with an annual turnover of $3 million or less, but it covers health service providers whatever their size.

  • A Book button on every page

Dr Tabara Dione's site links online discovery-call booking from every page, so a visitor reading about her coaching never has to hunt for the next step. On a phone the button sits in the header, beside tap-to-call if you'd also take a call.

  • Clear next steps once they've booked

A confirmation page that repeats what was booked and when, what to bring, where to park or meet, and how to change the booking. It answers the questions people otherwise ring about the night before.

Booking set-ups we've built

Three client sites show three ways of taking bookings: priced packages linked to online booking, a discovery-call booking reachable from every page, and a booking request form on a one-page site.

“Salem created a sleek, professional website for www.resolveforward.com.au with an intuitive and easy-to-use bookings page.”

Up to 3 pages

Up to 8 pages

$1,499

  • Payment. No deposit. We build your draft first, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. If you don't go ahead, you owe nothing.
  • GST. WebCraft Studio isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added.
  • Timing. Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks.
  • Hosting. After launch, hosting is $30 a month: hosting, security monitoring, backups, email support and unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages. New pages or features are quoted first. No contract, cancel anytime.
  • Domain and email. We register your domain in your name (about $20 a year), connect it to your site and set up your business email.

Questions about booking websites

How much does it cost to add online booking?

It depends which way you go. A Book button that opens the booking tool you already use is a link, so it's simply part of the site, which starts at $399. A booking and payment system built into the site is quoted per job, because it depends on how many services, staff calendars and payment options you need. We include it in your quote for the site, so you see the whole cost before we start.

Can customers pay when they book?

Yes. When we build booking into your site, it can be set up to take the full price or a deposit at the time of booking, and that's part of the per-job quote. If your current booking tool already takes deposits, we link to it and leave payments where they are.

Which booking tools can you link to?

Any that gives you a public booking page or link, including HotDoc, Cliniko, Fresha, Calendly and OpenTable. We put the Book button in the header and on the pages where people decide, such as each service or practitioner.

Do we need online booking or an online store?

Booking sells time: appointments, classes, consults, charters and site visits. A store sells things you ship or hand over. Our online stores are $799 for up to 25 products with one payment gateway and basic order management, or $1,999 for unlimited products, multiple payment options, customer accounts and advanced shipping. If you need both, ask and we'll quote them together.

Can a one-page website take bookings?

Yes. A Book button in the header and a booking section partway down the page work well on a single page. Cape Fishing Charters takes booking and gift voucher requests on its one-page site.

Do you build booking websites outside Adelaide?

Yes. We're a web design team on Hutt St in Adelaide and work with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email. Resolve Forward is in Sydney and Dr Tabara Dione's practice is in Melbourne, and as with every client outside Adelaide, those projects ran by phone and email.

Ready to take bookings on your website?

Tell us what customers book, how long each booking runs, and whether you want payment up front or already use a booking tool. We'll quote the site and the booking set-up together.

We reply within 24 hours. Prefer email? info@webcraftstudio.com.au
