Privacy Policy

1. About This Privacy Policy
WebCraft Studio ("we", "our" or "us") is a web design team based in Adelaide, South Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can see or correct it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. Information We Collect
- Contact and enquiry details: your name, email address, phone number, business details and anything you write in a message. We collect these directly from you when you fill in a form on this site, email or call us, request a quote or engage our services.
- How you found us: when you send an enquiry through a form or the chat on this site, we also record the first page you visited on our site, the website that sent you (if any), the page you enquired from, and any ad-click or campaign tags in the link you followed (such as a Google Ads click ID or UTM tags). Your browser stores these details on your device (in local storage) so they can be added to an enquiry you send within 90 days of your first visit, and they're stored with your message by Netlify.
- Website usage data: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay and how you found us (for example, which ad you clicked). Google Analytics and Google Ads collect this automatically using cookies (see section 5).
- Client project information: the words, photos, logos and other material you give us for your website, and any login details you share so we can do the work (for example, access to your domain or your old website).
3. How We Use Your Information
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare your quote
- To build, host and support your website, and to talk with you about your project
- To understand how people use our website so we can improve it (Google Analytics)
- To measure which of our ads lead to enquiries, and to show our ads to people who have visited our website (Google Ads)
- To send you marketing emails, only if you've agreed to receive them
- To meet our legal obligations
4. Who We Share It With
We don't sell, trade or rent your personal information. We only share it with:
- Netlify (USA): our form provider. Netlify hosts this website and stores the messages you send us through its forms.
- Google (USA): which provides Google Analytics and Google Ads (see section 5).
- Other service providers: businesses that help us run our services, such as our email provider, only as far as they need to.
- Legal requirements: when the law requires it, or to protect our rights.
- Business transfers: if our business is merged, acquired or sold.
5. Cookies, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta
Our website uses two Google services, both of which use cookies and similar technologies:
- Google Analytics shows us how visitors use our website, such as which pages they view and how they found us.
- Google Ads conversion tracking measures which of our ads lead to enquiries. Google Ads remarketing lets Google show our ads to people who have visited our website, when they later use Google or other websites and apps that show Google ads.
When you send us an enquiry through a form on this site, your contact details (your email address, and possibly your phone number) may be shared with Google in hashed (scrambled) form rather than as readable text. Google uses them to match the enquiry to an ad click so we can measure our ads' results (Google Ads enhanced conversions).
We also use the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API (Meta is the company behind Facebook and Instagram). The Pixel uses cookies to record visits to our website, so Meta can show our ads to people who have visited and tell us which of our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to enquiries. When you send us an enquiry, your email address, phone number and name may be sent to Meta in hashed (scrambled) form, along with your IP address and browser details, so Meta can match the enquiry to an ad. We don't send Meta the content of your enquiry. If you fill in an enquiry form inside a Facebook or Instagram ad, Meta collects those details and passes them to us.
You can control this:
- Turn off personalised ads, including remarketing, in your Google ad settings at adssettings.google.com (opens in a new tab)
- Stop Google Analytics collecting your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab)
- Choose how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences (opens in a new tab)
- Block or delete cookies and other site data in your browser settings
To learn how Google uses this information, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab) and Google's Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).
6. Information Stored Overseas
Netlify and Google are based in the United States. The messages you send through our forms, the website usage data described above and the hashed contact details sent to Google are stored and processed in the USA, and possibly in other countries where these companies operate.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. However, no method of sending or storing information over the internet is 100% secure.
If you share login details with us, we only use them for the work you've asked us to do and we don't pass them on. Once the work is done, we recommend you change any password you shared with us, and you can ask us to delete those details at any time.
8. How Long We Keep It
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, for example while we're working on or hosting your website, or longer where the law requires us to keep records. When we no longer need it, we delete it or de-identify it.
9. Seeing and Correcting Your Information
You can ask us at any time to:
- See the personal information we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong, out of date or incomplete
- Delete your information, unless the law requires us to keep it
- Stop sending you marketing emails
Contact us using the details in section 14. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request.
10. Complaints
If you're concerned about how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab).
11. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Third-Party Websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these websites.
