Website Design for Cafes

Websites for cafes, coffee shops and coffee carts that answer what people check on their phone before they walk over: are you open, what's on the menu, and where exactly are you.

What a cafe website has to do

Most people look a cafe up on a phone, often while already out, to check the hours, scan the menu and find the door. A cafe site earns its keep by putting those three things in plain sight, then pointing regulars to what brings them back: ordering ahead, catering and the latest specials.

  • Opening hours that are actually right

Cafe hours go out of date faster than anything else on the site: early closes, a kitchen that stops before the coffee machine does, winter hours, public holidays. We put your hours near the top of the home page, word them the same way as your Google Business Profile, and change them whenever you email us.

  • A menu people can read on a phone

A photo of the chalkboard or a scanned PDF means pinching and zooming. We set your menu out as real text with prices and dietary markers, so it reads well on a small screen, works with screen readers and can be read by search engines. New prices or a seasonal change are a text edit, covered by hosting.

  • Dietary wording that holds up

Customers with coeliac disease or allergies read menus closely. In Australia a "gluten free" claim means no detectable gluten, which a shared kitchen may not be able to promise, and cafes must be able to tell a customer which allergens are in a dish when asked. We use the dietary markers you choose and add a line asking anyone with an allergy to speak to staff.

  • Directions down to the door

An embedded Google Map, plus the details a map leaves out: which laneway or arcade, where to park, the nearest train or tram stop, whether prams and wheelchairs fit through the entrance, and whether dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables.

  • A clear path to ordering ahead

If you take orders through Square Online, a QR ordering platform or a delivery app such as Uber Eats or DoorDash, the site gets an Order ahead button that opens it. We don't build ordering or payments ourselves; we make the system you already use easy to reach, with your number beside it for anyone who'd rather ring.

  • Catering, beans and the extras

Office catering, platters for pick-up, beans by the bag, a monthly trivia night or a back room for small groups: whatever earns money beyond the counter gets its own section and a short enquiry form, so a catering order doesn't get buried in your Instagram messages.

The closest work in our portfolio

There's no cafe among the client sites in our portfolio yet, so here is the closest match in shape: a one-page site for a South Australian tourism business that does the jobs a cafe home page does. It sells the experience with photos, answers the usual questions and keeps the map and phone number within easy reach. Below it is a Google review from one of our clients.

“My website is exactly how I wanted. I highly recommend Salem for any business wanting a professional website without the bull.”

Johannah Whilding, Google review

What a cafe website costs

One page

$399

Hours, a short menu, the map and parking notes, a few photos and your ordering links on a single page. Enough for a coffee cart or a hole-in-the-wall with a tight menu.

Our suggestion for most cafes

Up to 3 pages

$899

A home page with hours and location, a full menu page, and a third page for catering, events or the story behind the place.

Up to 8 pages

$1,499

For cafes with more than one venue, a roastery or wholesale side, or separate breakfast, lunch, catering and events pages.

  • Payment. No deposit. We build your draft first, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. If you don't go ahead, you owe nothing.
  • GST. WebCraft Studio isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added.
  • Timing. Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks.
  • Hosting. After launch, hosting is $30 a month: hosting, security monitoring, backups, email support and unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages. New pages or features are quoted first. No contract, cancel anytime.
  • Domain and email. We register your domain in your name (about $20 a year), connect it to your site and set up your business email.

Questions cafe owners ask us

Can customers order from our website?

Yes, through the ordering system you already use. We add an Order ahead button on every page that opens your online ordering or delivery app listing, and make your number a tap-to-call link for phone orders. We don't run an ordering or payment system of our own, so we take nothing from each order.

How do we change the menu or hours after launch?

Email us. Hosting is $30 a month and includes unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages, so new prices, a winter menu, holiday hours or a fresh photo of the counter are covered. A brand-new page, such as a catering page added later, is quoted first.

Should the online menu show our Sunday or public holiday surcharge?

If you add a surcharge on certain days, customers should know before they arrive. The ACCC's price display guidance lets cafes and restaurants show normal menu prices with the words "a surcharge of [percentage] applies on [day or days]", displayed at least as prominently as the most prominent price; a surcharge charged every day has to be built into the prices. We put that line wherever your prices appear, and the ACCC's guidance is the place to check how it applies to you.

Which package suits a cafe?

For most cafes we suggest the 3-page site at $899: a home page with hours and location, a full menu page, and a page for catering or your story. A coffee cart or a small cafe with a short menu can fit everything on the one-page site at $399. Groups with several venues, or a roastery selling wholesale, usually need the 8-page site at $1,499.

Will our site come up when people search for a cafe nearby?

We don't promise rankings. What we do is build a fast site with your suburb, hours, menu and what you're known for written as plain text, which gives Google something clear to match. For "near me" searches your Google Business Profile carries a lot of weight too, so keep its hours and its menu link in step with the site.

Do you work with cafes outside Adelaide?

Yes. We're an Adelaide web design team working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. Send us your menu, your hours and a handful of photos, and we'll build the draft from those.

Ready to start your cafe website?

Send us your menu, your opening hours and a few photos of the place. We'll quote, build your draft, and you pay only once you approve it.

We reply within 24 hours. Prefer email? info@webcraftstudio.com.au
