Website Design for Hair Salons

Websites for hair salons and independent stylists that show your prices and your people, then hand clients straight to the booking system you already use.

What a hair salon website has to do

You can't answer the salon phone mid-colour or after you've locked up, so the website has to do that job. Before a new client commits, they want to know what it will cost, who will do their hair and whether that person's work suits them. A salon site answers those questions, then gets out of the way with a booking button that's never more than a thumb away.

  • A Book now button that goes to your system

Whether you use Fresha, Timely, Kitomba, Shortcuts or something else, the button in the header opens your booking page so clients can pick a service, a stylist and a time. Your system keeps doing what it already does, such as confirmations, reminders and deposits; we don't add a booking or payment system of our own.

  • A price list that explains itself

Group services the way clients think about them: cuts, colour, blonding, treatments, styling and extensions. Where a price depends on hair length, thickness or the stylist's level, say so next to it, and flag which services need a consultation first. Updating prices on that page is included in hosting.

  • Stylist profiles clients can choose from

A photo, a first name, their level, what they love doing (curly cuts, lived-in blondes, skin fades, bridal styling) and the days they're in. Each profile can link straight to booking with that stylist if your booking system offers a link for it.

  • Real work, shared with permission

Photos of finished hair do the selling. We use photos you've taken, with each client's permission, and link your Instagram for the full feed. An unfiltered shot in good light tells a new client more about a colour than a heavily edited one.

  • Policies stated before the booking

Deposits, cancellation and no-show fees, how late is too late, skin tests before a first colour, and whether children can come along. Written in plain words on the site, and matching what your booking system actually charges, they head off the awkward conversation at the front desk.

  • A first visit that feels expected

A short new-client section: where to park, which door to use, whether to arrive with clean or unwashed hair for colour, roughly how long a first colour appointment runs and what a consultation involves. Small details, but they're what a nervous first-timer looks for.

Booking-first sites we've built

None of the sites in our portfolio is a salon. The closest are two appointment-based practices where the website's main job is getting someone booked: a family dispute resolution practice in Sydney and a coaching practice for doctors in Melbourne. Below them is what Resolve Forward wrote about the bookings page on their site.

Resolve Forward

Professional services · Sydney

Family law dispute resolution practice in Sydney. We built six service pages with FAQs, priced packages that each lead to online booking, and a five-step intake form. A salon price list works the same way when every service ends in a Book now button.

“Salem created a sleek, professional website for www.resolveforward.com.au with an intuitive and easy-to-use bookings page.”

What a hair salon website costs

One page

$399

Services, prices, the booking button, hours and a map on one page. Suits a solo stylist, a home studio or a chair-renter building their own clientele.

Our suggestion for most salons

Up to 3 pages

$899

A home page with booking, a full services and price list page, and a team page with a profile for each stylist.

Up to 8 pages

$1,499

For larger salons: separate pages for colour, extensions, bridal or barbering, plus team, policies, gift vouchers and a gallery of recent work.

  • Payment. No deposit. We build your draft first, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. If you don't go ahead, you owe nothing.
  • GST. WebCraft Studio isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added.
  • Timing. Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks.
  • Hosting. After launch, hosting is $30 a month: hosting, security monitoring, backups, email support and unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages. New pages or features are quoted first. No contract, cancel anytime.
  • Domain and email. We register your domain in your name (about $20 a year), connect it to your site and set up your business email.

Questions salon owners ask us

Can clients book appointments through our website?

Yes, through the booking system you already use. A Book now button sits on every page and opens your booking page, and your number is a tap-to-call link for clients who'd rather ring. If you haven't set up online booking yet, the site can work with calls and an enquiry form until you do.

Should we put our prices on the website?

We suggest you do, even as "from" prices, because cost is one of the first things a new client checks. Make each "from" price one a client can genuinely get, and explain what moves it up: length, thickness, extra colour or toner, or a more senior stylist. Colour corrections can simply say "by consultation". It's your call, and the site shows only what you approve.

Can we sell gift vouchers through the site?

We link to vouchers sold through your booking system, or explain how to buy one in the salon. Most gift cards and vouchers sold in Australia since November 2019 have to stay valid for a minimum of three years from purchase, with the expiry date displayed on the voucher, so check your wording against the rules. NSW Fair Trading's summary sets them out plainly.

Which package suits a hair salon?

For most salons we suggest the 3-page site at $899: a home page with booking, a services and prices page, and a team page. A solo stylist or home studio can fit everything on the one-page site at $399. Larger salons offering extensions, bridal or barbering as separate services, or with more than one location, are better suited to the 8-page site at $1,499.

Do you build websites for barbers and beauty salons too?

Yes. Barbers and beauty salons need much the same things: booking, prices, staff and photos of the work. One exception: cosmetic injectables and other higher risk non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed by registered health practitioners are covered by Ahpra's advertising guidelines, which rule out testimonials and set strict conditions on before-and-after photos. Those rules apply to anyone advertising the procedures, including the salon or clinic as a business, not only the practitioner. If you offer them, read Ahpra's guidelines before anything is written, and supply wording you're satisfied meets them.

How do we add a new stylist or change prices after launch?

Email us the details. Hosting is $30 a month and includes unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages, so a new stylist's photo and bio on the team page, a price rise or your Christmas closing dates are covered. A new page, such as a separate bridal page, is quoted first. We're an Adelaide team and work with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email.

Ready to start your salon website?

Send us your price list, your booking link and a few photos of your team's work. We'll quote, build your draft, and you pay once you approve it.
