Web Design in Caloundra

Hand-coded websites for businesses at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, from Kings Beach and Bulcock Street to Golden Beach, Pelican Waters, Caloundra West and the new suburbs of Aura. Our Adelaide team builds them by phone and email at published prices, and you approve the draft before you pay anything.

What Caloundra customers look for on a website

Caloundra's customers range from weekend visitors to families who moved into Aura last month and locals who've lived here for decades. Each wants something slightly different from your site, and each of these is something we build.

  • Answers for people who don't know the area

A visitor staying near Kings Beach searches on a phone for a meal, a lesson or a hire, often in a suburb they've never heard of. Your site should give them what you offer, the street you're on, where to park, today's hours and how to book or get a price, on the first screen they see.

  • Your area, set out beach by beach

It helps to group your suburbs by stretch of coast: Kings Beach, Bulcock Beach and Shelly Beach around the centre; Moffat Beach, Dicky Beach and Currimundi to the north; Golden Beach and Pelican Waters along the passage; Caloundra West, Baringa and Nirimba inland. If you also go up to Kawana or across to Beerwah, the site should say so.

  • Fixed prices, the same for a redesign

It's $399 for one page, $899 for up to 3 pages and $1,499 for up to 8 pages. There's no GST to add and no deposit. If you already have a site that's slow, hard to update or built on a theme you've outgrown, rebuilding it costs the same as a new one, and your current site keeps running until you're happy with its successor.

  • Designed and coded for your business

We hand-code every site in HTML, CSS and JavaScript instead of using Wix or a WordPress theme, and you talk directly to the people writing it. A café on Bulcock Street gets its menu and hours up front; a trade in the Caloundra West industrial estate gets its licence details, a service list and a quote form.

  • Bookings for classes, lessons and tours

Surf lessons, fitness classes, kids' activities and treatments all run on bookings. A booking and payment system can be built into your site and priced once we've seen how your timetable runs, or each page can carry a link to the Fresha, Calendly or Cliniko account you use now.

  • Selling online

Our $799 entry store takes up to 25 products, one payment gateway and basic order management; the $1,999 store lifts the product limit and adds multiple payment options, customer accounts and advanced shipping. Either could suit a local label, a homewares shop or a maker posting orders beyond the coast, and neither carries a store platform fee on top of hosting, though the payment provider charges its own transaction fees.

Caloundra's place on the Sunshine Coast

Caloundra sits at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, about 90 km north of the Brisbane CBD, where the Pumicestone Passage separates the mainland from Bribie Island and the Moreton Bay Marine Park reaches its northern end. The name comes from the Gubbi Gubbi language. For about two decades it had a council of its own: the Shire of Landsborough became the City of Caloundra in 1987, taking in Kawana Waters, the northern half of Bribie Island and the hinterland towns of Landsborough and Maleny, until it merged with Maroochy and Noosa into the Sunshine Coast Region on 15 March 2008. People still use Caloundra to mean more than the suburb itself, so a site should list the actual suburbs it serves. For the coast as a whole, see our Sunshine Coast web design page.

Tourism is a big part of the town's trade. Kings Beach is patrolled all year round, Bulcock Beach has still water with boardwalks and piers, and the heritage-listed Caloundra Lighthouses are at Kings Beach. The Queensland Tourism Industry Council named Caloundra its Top Tourism Town for 2023. Sunshine Coast Council's Caloundra Centre Master Plan, adopted in 2017, aims to bring more professional services, hotels, restaurants, cafés, retail and creative businesses into the centre, with further Bulcock Street streetscape stages, an upgrade of The Events Centre and master planning for a town square site that includes a new regional art gallery among its projects. For a business in the centre, menus, event-night hours and specials change often, and the unlimited text and image changes in our $30 monthly hosting cover that.

Most of the growth is inland. Aura, the Caloundra South priority development area, covers 2,310 hectares south of the Caloundra urban area and the aerodrome and is planned for around 50,000 residents in about 20,000 dwellings, with Aura Business Park offering almost 100 lots. Baringa was created from part of Bells Creek in August 2017 to take that growth; its first census, in 2021, counted 4,604 people, and Baringa State Primary School had 982 students by 2024. Older suburbs grew too, with Caloundra West rising from 6,297 to 7,270 residents and Pelican Waters from 6,277 to 7,393 between the 2016 and 2021 censuses. Many new arrivals don't yet have a neighbour to recommend a plumber, a tutor or a childcare place, so they search, and a site that names their estate gives them a reason to call.

The town's working side is to the west. Caloundra West has an industrial estate in its north, and Caloundra Airport, in the middle of the suburb, is home to the Queensland Air Museum. Hospital care is a short drive north at Birtinya in Kawana, where Sunshine Coast University Hospital opened in March 2017 with 450 beds and had grown to 728 by June 2025, beside the Ramsay-run Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and the Sunshine Coast Health Institute. Caloundra isn't on the railway: the nearest station is Landsborough, about 21 km away, although a direct line from Beerwah through Aura to Caloundra is planned. Until it opens, a clinic, gym or shop here should tell people where to park and which bus to catch.

We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St and work with Caloundra businesses by phone and email; nobody from our team is based on the Sunshine Coast, and we don't hold meetings in person. Trades can read about Queensland licence details on our pages for Sunshine Coast tradies, builders and electricians, and clinics on our page for Sunshine Coast allied health.

Sites with the features Caloundra businesses ask for

None of these three is on the Sunshine Coast. One is in Thorneside, on Brisbane's Bayside; the others are in New South Wales and South Australia, chosen for what they do rather than where they are.

Home page of the Phoenix Housekeeping website

Phoenix Housekeeping

Home & care services · Lake Macquarie, Cessnock & Central Coast

A family-run cleaning business around Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and the Central Coast whose work includes Airbnb turnovers and linen. Its site publishes prices, has service pages and suburb pages across its area, and offers a discreet call-back on the quote form: a layout that would suit a holiday-let cleaner covering Kings Beach to Pelican Waters.

Home page of the Queensland Dance & Performing Arts website

Queensland Dance & Performing Arts

Community, creative & tourism · Thorneside, Brisbane's Bayside

A Thorneside dance school on Brisbane's Bayside. Its site spreads across 12 pages so every program, up to the full-time diploma, is explained separately, and parents can check the class timetable, browse a filterable gallery, read FAQs and enrol online: what a class business serving the families moving into Aura would want.

“My website is exactly how I wanted. I highly recommend Salem for any business wanting a professional website without the bull.”

Caloundra web design questions

Are you on the Sunshine Coast?

No. Our team is in Adelaide, at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, and Caloundra clients work with us entirely by phone and email: drafts arrive as links, and changes go back as a reply or a call. We reply within 24 hours. The businesses we work with now are in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

What does a website cost for a Caloundra business?

Caloundra pays what everyone else does. A single page is $399 and up to three pages $899; up to eight cost $1,499. GST isn't added, rebuilding a site you already have costs the same, and stores are $799 or $1,999. Nothing is due until you approve the draft; hosting is then $30 a month, cancel anytime.

Should the site say Caloundra, Sunshine Coast, or both?

Both, plus the suburbs. Sunshine Coast tells someone from Brisbane roughly where you are, Caloundra tells a local you're close, and names such as Pelican Waters, Currimundi or Baringa match how people search for nearby businesses. We work them into headings and sentences rather than a list hidden in the footer.

We're in Aura. Can the site keep up as the area grows?

Yes. Adding a suburb name to your existing pages is a text change, and those are covered by the $30 monthly hosting. A new page for a new area is quoted first. Baringa and Nirimba already have their own names, so check your service area every so often as the development continues.

Can visitors book a lesson or a table online?

Yes. An online booking and payment setup can be built into the site; we price it per job after hearing how your lessons, tables or sessions are taken and paid for. A business that's already on Fresha, OpenTable or Calendly can simply have that linked from each page. See booking website design, or ecommerce website design if you sell products.

Do you write the words and supply the photos?

No. The text and photos come from you, and our job is to shape them into pages that are easy to read on a small screen. No logo yet? We help with that at no charge.
