Brisbane Southside Web Design

Hand-coded websites for businesses south of the Brisbane River, from the inner streets of Woolloongabba and Annerley out to Mount Gravatt, Sunnybank, Acacia Ridge and Forest Lake. We build them from Adelaide, working by phone and email, for a fixed price, and nothing is paid until you've seen and approved the draft.

What a southside website needs to get right

The southside takes in a major hospital precinct, two university campuses, busy shopping districts, freight and industrial estates, and outer suburbs on the Logan border. These are the things we plan a southside site around.

  • Your customers' languages

At the 2021 census, 26.7% of Sunnybank residents spoke Mandarin at home and 30.7% of Inala residents spoke Vietnamese. If many of your customers read Chinese or Vietnamese, send us the translated text and we'll build a second-language page or section, marked up so browsers and screen readers know which language they're reading. We don't translate, so the wording has to come from you or a translator you trust.

  • Suburbs, not just the word southside

People search by suburb, so we name the ones you serve and group them the way locals do: Annerley, Yeronga and Moorooka; Greenslopes, Holland Park and Tarragindi; Mount Gravatt, Mansfield and Wishart; Sunnybank, Runcorn and Calamvale; Forest Lake, Inala and Richlands. If you stop at the Logan border, it's worth saying that as well.

  • Pages that business buyers can check

Freight, wholesale and industrial firms around Acacia Ridge, Rocklea and Archerfield, and tech companies at Eight Mile Plains, are judged on capability. We set out your services, fleet or equipment, certifications and past projects, with an enquiry form that collects the job details the first time.

  • Fixed prices, and redesigns at the same price

A one-page site costs $399 and a site of up to 3 pages costs $899. Up to 8 pages is $1,499. No GST is added and there's no deposit. Rebuilding a slow or dated site costs the same as a new one; you keep your domain, old page addresses are redirected, and nothing switches over until you approve it.

  • Hand-coded, with the developer on the phone

Each site is written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript rather than assembled in a page builder, so it loads quickly on a phone at a bus station and nothing needs plugin updates. You speak to the people writing the code, by phone or email, not to a salesperson.

  • Bookings, payments and online stores

A booking and payment system can be built into the site and quoted for your job, or we can connect the HotDoc, Cliniko or Fresha account you already have. To sell products, the $799 store takes up to 25 of them with one payment gateway, and the $1,999 store has no product limit and adds multiple payment options, customer accounts and advanced shipping.

Working south of the river

There's no official boundary for the southside. People use it for almost anything south of the river, but the informal suburb lists split that ground three ways: inner suburbs such as West End, South Brisbane, Kangaroo Point and Woolloongabba; eastern suburbs such as Coorparoo, Camp Hill, Carindale, Wynnum and Manly; and 52 southern suburbs running from Yeronga, Annerley and Greenslopes out to Forest Lake, Drewvale, Pallara and Wacol. Because people draw the line in different places, a site does better naming suburbs than relying on the label. Our Brisbane web design page covers the whole city and how our Adelaide hours compare with Queensland's.

Woolloongabba, 3 km by road south of the GPO, is where Stanley Street, Main Street, Logan Road and Ipswich Road meet at the Fiveways, near the Gabba. The Princess Alexandra Hospital on Ipswich Road is the state's centre for kidney and liver transplants, trauma surgery and spinal injuries. Further out, Griffith University's Nathan and Mount Gravatt campuses sit side by side on the edge of Toohey Forest. Cafés, clinics, pharmacies and tutors near any of them serve staff, students, patients and visitors who often don't know the streets, so opening hours, parking and the nearest bus stop do more work than a long about page.

Shopping centres anchor whole districts. Westfield Mt Gravatt, called Garden City until it was renamed in August 2022, opened in Upper Mount Gravatt in 1970, and the bus and busway stations beside it are a major hub for southside buses. Sunnybank, 16 km south-east of the CBD, is known for its Asian shops and restaurants, with Market Square across from Sunnybank Plaza on Mains Road, and the Inala Plaza–Civic Centre complex, about 22 km south-west of the city, has Vietnamese markets among its independent shops and restaurants. A restaurant, grocer or practice in either area often serves customers who are more comfortable reading in another language.

There's heavy industry here too. Acacia Ridge has one of Queensland's largest railway freight yards, handling interstate freight and the change between rail gauges, and neighbouring Rocklea is mostly industrial land, home since 1964 to the Brisbane Markets, where fresh produce and flowers are sold to trade buyers. Archerfield Airport, Brisbane's main airport until the airlines moved to Eagle Farm after the Second World War, is now used for civil aviation, including police and rescue aircraft and the Royal Queensland Aero Club. Brisbane Technology Park at Eight Mile Plains opened in 1986 as a state initiative for knowledge-intensive, technology-based companies. Firms in these places mostly sell to other businesses, so their websites have to show capacity and experience rather than a shopfront.

To the south, the southside runs into Logan: Sunnybank is about 10 km from Logan Central, and the Pacific Motorway carries on to the Gold Coast. Customers rarely think in council boundaries, so if you also work in Logan, name those suburbs too. Our team works from Ste 3/110 Hutt St in Adelaide, so southside clients deal with us by phone and email; there are no Brisbane staff and no meetings in person. Queensland's rules on showing trade licence numbers are set out on our pages for Brisbane tradies, plumbers and electricians.

Queensland work, plus two sites built for bookings and reach

None of these clients is on the southside. One is a dance school on Brisbane's Bayside; the other two show online booking for a professional practice, and a site that lets customers across a wide area check they're covered.

Southside web design questions

Are you based on Brisbane's southside?

No, we're in Adelaide, at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, and everything with southside clients happens by phone and email. Drafts come as links you can open anywhere. We reply within 24 hours. Today our clients are spread across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.

Can our website have pages in Chinese or Vietnamese?

Yes, if you provide the translated text. We'll lay it out as its own page or section with a clear language switch and the right language set in the code. Keep both versions saying the same thing, including prices and hours, and send us the change for both whenever something changes.

We work across the southside and into Logan. How should the site show that?

List the suburbs on both sides of the boundary near the top, grouped by area, so a customer in Calamvale or Runcorn sees their suburb next to the Logan suburbs you cover. With the 8-page package there's room for a southside page and a Logan page, each showing jobs you've done there.

How much does a southside business website cost?

Our published prices apply: $399 for a single page, $899 for up to 3 pages and $1,499 for up to 8, with redesigns at the same rates and no GST. A store costs $799 or $1,999; see ecommerce website design. You pay once you approve the draft, and hosting is $30 a month afterwards with no contract.

Can clients book appointments through the site?

They can. A booking and payment system built into your site is quoted once we understand your appointment types, practitioners and how you take payment. Many practices already run HotDoc or Cliniko, and if that's you, a book-now button on each page that opens your existing system is often the simpler choice. See booking website design.

Will a new site help us show up in local searches?

No one can honestly promise a position on Google. What we do is build quick pages with a heading for each service and your suburbs written in plain sentences, which helps search engines and people understand where you work. We don't sell SEO retainers or run ads.
