How Much Does a Website Cost in Brisbane?

Brisbane's web design rates sit a little under Sydney's, yet published prices for a small business site still run from under $2,000 to $8,000 and beyond. This guide breaks down hourly rates, build times and running costs, then sets out our fixed prices.

Brisbane website prices at a glance

Here's what price guides and providers covering Brisbane were publishing in October 2026. Few of them say whether GST is included, so check before you compare.

Small business service site$3,000–$8,0004–8 weeks
Lead generation site$5,000–$15,0005–10 weeks

WebCraft Studio$399 (one page), $899 (up to 3) or $1,499 (up to 8)5–10 days from your words and photos; 2–3 weeks for up to 8 pages

Individual packages vary even more than the guides suggest. A studio in North Lakes advertises a small business package of up to 10 pages from $1,800, launched within 4–6 weeks, though it notes that timelines vary. An agency's Brisbane price guide puts a small business service site at $3,000–$8,000. Both could be fair prices for what each includes, which is why the inclusions matter more than the headline.

Why Brisbane comes in a little under Sydney

A national cost-guide site puts Brisbane's hourly rates a notch under the southern capitals, typically $90–$200 an hour, while its Sydney guide puts agency rates there at $120–$250. Wages point the same way. The ABS's May 2026 figures put full-time adult ordinary time earnings at $2,039.70 a week in Queensland, below New South Wales at $2,108.80 and the national figure of $2,083.70.

The same guide calls Brisbane one of the better buyer's markets in the country. Business numbers are growing as well: ABS counts show Queensland gained 19,244 actively trading businesses in 2025–26. If yours is one of them and you're buying a first website, it pays to be choosy, as long as you compare like with like.

Freelancer, studio or agency: what an hour buys

That agency's 2026 Brisbane price guide lists these hourly rates:

  • Freelancers: $70–$150 an hour.
  • Web design agencies: $150–$250 an hour.
  • Senior specialists and technical consultants: $180–$300 or more an hour.
  • An in-house designer: about $40–$70 an hour in salary, before super, leave, software and management time.

Hourly rates make quotes hard to compare, because you rarely see the hours. A rough test: at those rates, every ten hours of work costs $700–$1,500 from a freelancer and $1,500–$2,500 from an agency. A high quote often holds a lot of hours for planning, copywriting or rounds of revisions. A low one may hold very few, which is fine if the scope is small and clear. Ask how many hours the quote assumes and what they're for.

Our prices aren't built on hours. A one-page site is $399 whether you ask for two changes to the draft or twenty before you approve it, and the same goes for the $899 and $1,499 sites.

Build time is part of the cost

The agency's Brisbane guide gives timelines from 3–6 weeks for a brochure site to 8–14 weeks for an online store. That isn't padding: longer builds often include discovery sessions, copywriting and staged design sign-offs. But for a new business waiting on its first enquiries, every week without a site has a cost of its own.

Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks. Because we arrange the words you give us rather than writing them, the part that usually holds a project up is the content. Having your services, prices, suburbs and photos ready before you ask for quotes speeds things up with any provider. Our guide to how long a website takes lists what to have ready.

Running costs that sit outside the quote

The same Brisbane price guide lists the yearly and monthly costs that usually sit outside a build quote:

  • managed hosting at $50–$150 a month;
  • plugin and app licences at $400–$1,200 a year;
  • maintenance from a freelancer at $100–$500 a month for a standard site;
  • agency retainers from $2,500 a month;
  • ongoing SEO at $500–$2,000 or more a month.

Plugin licences come with WordPress-style builds: premium themes, form builders, security tools and the like, each renewing every year. A hand-coded site doesn't depend on them, so there are no plugin licences to renew. For sites we build, hosting is $30 a month after launch, and it covers unlimited text and image changes on the pages you already have. Lockyer Valley Batteries, who had us rebuild two websites, wrote in their Google review: “Rebuilt two websites for our businesses and saved us a fortune on hosting etc.”

If you're weighing up what a monthly fee should cover, our article on small business hosting goes through it line by line.

Working with an Adelaide team from Brisbane

We work with Brisbane businesses by phone and email from Ste 3/110 Hutt St, Adelaide. Queensland doesn't use daylight saving and South Australia does, so Brisbane is half an hour ahead of us for about half the year, and half an hour behind from early October to early April. It makes little difference to a project: you send your content, we send a draft link, and you reply with changes when it suits you.

Queensland Dance & Performing Arts in Thorneside, on Brisbane's Bayside, is one of our clients. Their 12-page site has a page for each program and the diploma, a weekly class timetable, a filterable photo gallery and an online enrolment form. Elsewhere in Queensland we built a single-page site for M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas, with a six-service overview and a 13-photo gallery that swipes on mobile. Michael Debney's Google review says: “They created the site very promptly and cost efficient.”

Free mentoring in Queensland before you spend

Before paying anyone, get the plan straight. The Queensland Government's Mentoring for Growth program offers free, confidential sessions in which you're matched with business experts. Business Queensland's events calendar lists a Mentoring for Growth day at the Nundah Suburban Business Hub on 9 December 2026, with free one-hour sessions you register for in advance. Take the question of what your website should do for the business, and you'll come away with a clearer brief to send to providers.

Brisbane website cost questions

What's the average cost of a website in Brisbane?

There isn't one meaningful average. Published 2026 ranges go from $2,000–$6,000 for a five-to-ten-page small business site to $10,000 or more for an online store, and single packages can start below $2,000. Our prices are fixed: $399, $899 or $1,499 by page count, with no GST added.

Are Brisbane web designers cheaper than Sydney ones?

Usually a little. One national cost guide puts Brisbane rates at $90–$200 an hour against $120–$250 for Sydney agencies. Our prices are the same in both cities, and in every other city we work with.

Is there a Queensland grant for a new website?

Check Business Queensland's grants pages before you buy, because programs open and close. When we checked in October 2026, we couldn't find a digital grant on its pages that was open to new applications.

Can you build online enrolments or bookings into a Brisbane site?

Yes. Queensland Dance & Performing Arts on the Bayside takes enrolments through its site. We build online booking and payment systems into a site and quote them per job, or we can link a booking tool you already use, such as Fresha, Cliniko or Calendly.

Do you charge for changes after the site is live?

Text and image changes on your existing pages are included in the $30 a month hosting. New pages or new features are quoted before we start them, so there are no surprise bills.
