Central Coast Council was created on 12 May 2016 by merging Gosford City and Wyong Shire, and its main office is at 2 Hely Street, Wyong. Council puts the area at about 1,680 square kilometres with more than 80 kilometres of coastline, and the region runs from the Hawkesbury River up to Lake Macquarie, with the Watagan Mountains to the west. Customers rarely search by council, though. In the north they use Budgewoi, Lake Munmorah, Gwandalan, San Remo and Doyalson around the lakes; Toukley, Noraville and Norah Head; The Entrance, Long Jetty, Bateau Bay and Killarney Vale; Wyong, Tuggerah and Ourimbah; and the newer estates of Warnervale, Wadalba, Woongarrah and Hamlyn Terrace. The southern half, from Gosford and Erina to Terrigal and the Woy Woy Peninsula, has its own Gosford page.
Council's economic profile counts 357,816 residents in 2025 and a gross regional product of $21.7 billion, and forecast.id expects the population to pass 412,000 by 2046. Health care and social assistance added 6,204 jobs in the five years to 2024/25, construction 2,770 and education and training 1,667. Manufacturing is still a bigger slice of local work than across the state, 6.3% against 5.6%, even after shedding 957 jobs over that time, and council's list of major employers includes polytec, Borg Manufacturing, East Coast Beverages, TrendPac and the Singleton Group. Council also counts 29 designated employment precincts, the region's business parks, with more than 3.3 million square metres of employment and mixed-use space between them.
Most of the growth is expected in the north. Council describes its Central Lakes District, taking in Warnervale and Lake Munmorah and reaching over the boundary to Morisset, as the Coast's primary northern growth corridor, and its 2026 priorities include a residential expansion at Wadalba, a masterplan for a Warnervale business precinct and a Northern Regional Leisure and Aquatic Centre. Wyong Hospital at Hamlyn Terrace is the region's second-largest hospital, and council names Wyong, Tuggerah, Lake Haven, The Entrance and Bateau Bay among the key commercial centres outside Gosford. Families who have just moved into a new estate don't know yet which GP, childcare centre, electrician or gym the neighbours use, so they search, and a site that names your suburb and the ones next to it tells them quickly that you're nearby.
Holidaymakers are the other half of the story. The Entrance has drawn holidaymakers since the area's first guest house opened in 1885, and its pelicans are still part of the draw: Pelican Time, a free talk by Marine Wildlife Rescue Central Coast volunteers at Pelican Plaza, runs at 3:30pm on Wednesdays, weekends and public holidays, and every day in the school holidays. A waterfront cafe or hire business that keeps longer hours in the holidays needs a website that says so. People coming up from Sydney usually choose where to stay, eat and book a cruise or a surf lesson before they leave home. For them, prices, opening hours, a map and a way to book belong on the first screen; locals around the lakes mostly want a phone number and some sign that you turn up when you say you will.
We're an Adelaide team, and Central Coast projects run by phone and email. Phoenix Housekeeping, one of our NSW clients, is based just north of the council boundary in Morisset and lists Gorokan, Charmhaven, The Entrance, Toukley, Wyong, Tuggerah and Lake Haven among the suburbs it cleans; none of our clients is headquartered on the Coast itself. Trades can read more on our page for Central Coast tradies, and businesses that also work around Lake Macquarie can see our Newcastle page.
