Gosford is a waterfront city at the northern end of Brisbane Water, about 77 km north of Sydney and 86 km south of Newcastle. The City of Gosford was abolished on 12 May 2016 and merged with Wyong Shire to form Central Coast Council, which shares its administration between Gosford and Wyong. Customers search by suburb rather than by council, though: Gosford, West and East Gosford, Point Frederick, North Gosford, Wyoming, Narara, Niagara Park and Lisarow around the city; Erina, Terrigal, Wamberal, Avoca Beach, Copacabana and MacMasters Beach on the ocean; Kincumber, Davistown and Saratoga on the water; Woy Woy, Umina Beach, Ettalong Beach and Patonga on the peninsula; and Kariong and Somersby. Our Central Coast page looks at the region as a whole.
Council's economic profile counts 357,816 residents, 27,066 local businesses and 139,712 local jobs across the Central Coast in 2025. Health care and social assistance is the largest employer with 30,813 jobs, 22.1% of local work against 15.7% across NSW, and it grew by 6,204 jobs between 2019/20 and 2024/25. Gosford Hospital, the main hospital of the Central Coast Local Health District, anchors what council calls an emerging health and education precinct in Gosford, with new university and TAFE campuses alongside an expanding health precinct.
Construction comes next with 18,332 jobs, 13.1% of local work compared with 9.7% statewide, followed by retail with 14,612 and accommodation and food services with 11,509. Council quotes Tourism Research Australia figures of 5.9 million visitors and $2.0 billion in visitor spending a year, and near Gosford the draws include the beaches, Brisbane Water, the Australian Reptile Park and Central Coast Mariners games at Central Coast Stadium. Food manufacturing matters too: council lists Sanitarium, Mars Food Australia, Sara Lee and Inghams among the region's major employers, alongside the University of Newcastle and TAFE NSW.
Gosford is also changing. Council's 2026 advocacy priorities include renewal of the city centre and waterfront, a waterfront pedestrian overpass and an upgrade of the Etna Street bridge, and it is pushing for a high speed rail station at Gosford. The Woy Woy Peninsula is named as a strategic centre and a key housing growth area for the southern Coast. For a city-centre business, a website that gives the entrance, parking and the walk from the station saves phone calls, and for businesses on the peninsula, naming Woy Woy, Umina Beach and Ettalong helps local customers see straight away that you're nearby.
We're an Adelaide team, and Central Coast projects run by phone and email. One of our NSW clients, Phoenix Housekeeping, is based in Morisset and cleans across the northern end of the Coast, from Lake Haven and Toukley to Wyong, Tuggerah and The Entrance; we haven't built a site for a Gosford business yet. Tradespeople can read more on our page about websites for Central Coast tradies, and businesses that also serve Lake Macquarie can see our Newcastle page.
