Website Design for Accountants on the Central Coast

Websites for tax agents, BAS agents and accounting practices from Woy Woy to Lake Haven. Retirees can read every page without squinting, commuters can see when you're open after the train gets in, tradies can find the work you do for them, and your SMSF services are described in words that match your licence.

What a Central Coast practice's website needs

The Coast has an older population than Greater Sydney, a large group of residents who work outside the region, and more construction jobs than the state average. Those three facts shape a practice website more than the beaches do.

  • SMSF services described the way your licence allows

Since 1 July 2016, accountants have needed AFS licence cover to recommend that a client set up, join or leave a self-managed super fund. If your practice holds a licence or is authorised under one, the site can say so with the details; if not, it should list the SMSF work you can do. You settle that wording against ASIC's guidance; we put it on the page exactly as agreed.

  • Pages older clients can read easily

Body text large enough to read without zooming, strong contrast instead of pale grey, a phone number at the top of every page and buttons big enough for less steady fingers. A site that's comfortable for an 80-year-old to use is easier for everyone else as well.

  • Hours that suit people who work in Sydney

If you see clients early, late or on Saturdays, say so near the top, and give them a way to book or send documents without phoning during work hours. A line such as “evening appointments at our Gosford office on Thursdays” answers the first question a commuter has.

  • A page for tradies and builders

Construction is a bigger share of local jobs here than across NSW. A trades page can list what you do for builders, electricians and plumbers: BAS, vehicle logbooks, subcontractor reporting, company or trust structures. Tradies see their own work described before they ring.

  • Your town, not just “the Coast”

Clients look for an accountant in Erina, Wyong, Terrigal or Toukley, not in a council area. Name your town, where to park, how close you are to a station, and whether you'll visit clients at home in places like Budgewoi or Umina Beach.

  • Registration where people check it

Your registration number and type in the footer with a link to your TPB Register entry, plus a short page with the client information the TPB requires. It reassures careful clients and keeps those details in one place.

Accounting on the Central Coast: retirees, commuters and trades

The national rules in brief. Registration with the Tax Practitioners Board is the same for a Gosford practice as for one in the Sydney CBD. Our Sydney accountants page explains the registered tax practitioner symbol and the APES 110 rules on marketing, and our Perth accountants page sets out the client information registered practitioners must provide. On a website, those become a register link beside your number and a client information page.

An older population. The Coast has been a single council area since Gosford and Wyong councils merged in 2016, and its population is older than Sydney's. At the 2021 Census, 28.7% of Central Coast Council's residents were aged 60 or over, compared with 20.5% across Greater Sydney, and the 70 to 84 age group made up 13.2% of residents against 8.7% in Sydney. For a practice, an older client list tends to bring more questions about pensions and super, downsizing, estates and self-managed super funds, so readable pages and plain descriptions of what you do for retirees earn their place.

SMSFs and your licence. ASIC's Information Sheet 216 explains which SMSF services accountants can provide without an Australian financial services licence and which need one. Recommending that a client set up, join or leave an SMSF needs licence cover, while advice given as part of your work as a registered tax agent, and advice on the tax implications of financial products in the circumstances INFO 216 describes, does not. When ASIC reviewed accountants in 2018, two years after the old exemption ended, it found services listed on accountants' websites that hadn't been updated, and sites that didn't state AFS licence details or say that the accountant was an authorised representative or had a referral arrangement. Check your SMSF wording against INFO 216 or with your licensee or professional body; we'll publish it as you settle it.

Commuters and small businesses. At the 2021 Census about 24% of the Coast's employed residents worked outside the region, and the latest figures put about 180,000 employed residents against roughly 140,000 local jobs. Many of those clients can't call in on a weekday. The same economic profile counts 27,066 local businesses, and construction made up 13.1% of local jobs in 2024-25, compared with 9.7% across NSW. Businesses that pay contractors for building and construction services may need to lodge a Taxable payments annual report with the ATO by 28 August, so a trades page that mentions it shows you know their year.

Working with us. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, working with Central Coast practices by phone and email. Phoenix Housekeeping, a cleaning business whose service area includes the Central Coast along with Lake Macquarie and Cessnock, is one of our NSW clients.

Sites for a Coast business and for older clients

Phoenix Housekeeping works on the Central Coast, and Golden Years Aged Care Support's site was built for older readers in Adelaide. Neither is an accounting practice, but between them they cover the area and the audience a Coast practice serves. We've also built a website for an accounting firm, reviewed below.

Home page of the Phoenix Housekeeping website

Phoenix Housekeeping

Home & care services · Lake Macquarie, Cessnock & Central Coast

A family-run cleaning business whose area takes in the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie and Cessnock. The site publishes its prices openly and adds a discreet call-back choice to the quote form. A practice can do the same with a from-price for a pensioner's return and a ‘call me back after 5pm’ option for commuters.

Golden Years Aged Care Support

Home & care services · Northern Adelaide

In-home aged care support across Northern Adelaide. We used large, readable text throughout, set out nine services on one page, added tap-to-call on every page and gave the enquiry form a referral option for aged care providers. The same choices suit a practice with many retired clients and referrals from financial planners or estate lawyers.

“Salem was fantastic to work with on our accounting firm’s website. From day one, he was professional, responsive…”

Questions from Central Coast accountants

We don't hold an AFS licence. How should our site describe our SMSF work?

List the SMSF services your practice actually provides, in wording you've checked against ASIC's Information Sheet 216 or with your professional body. We won't write or vet that wording ourselves, but we'll publish it exactly as you settle it, and update it whenever your licence position changes, which the $30 monthly hosting covers.

Can you make the site easier for older clients to read?

Yes. We set a larger base text size, use strong contrast, keep the phone number visible at the top of every page and make buttons and links easy to tap. Golden Years Aged Care Support, shown above, was built that way for older readers.

Should we show evening or Saturday appointments?

If you offer them, put them near the top of the home page and on the contact page, with the office they apply to. You can also link the booking tool you already use, such as Calendly, so a commuter can book on the train rather than ringing during work hours.

Which Central Coast towns should we name?

Your own town first, then the ones your clients mostly come from. A practice in Erina might name Terrigal, Wamberal and Green Point; one in Wyong might name Tuggerah, Lake Haven and Toukley. If you see clients right along the Coast or by video, say that in a sentence instead of a long list.

Do you have clients on the Central Coast?

Phoenix Housekeeping, a cleaning business, covers the Central Coast along with Lake Macquarie and Cessnock. We're an Adelaide team and work with Coast businesses by phone and email: you send your words and photos, we build a draft, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.
