NSW rules, with Queensland next door. Registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, the NSW NDIS Worker Check run through the Office of the Children's Guardian and Service NSW, and the 1 July 2026 change that made supported independent living a registered support are covered on our Sydney NDIS provider page. Our Gold Coast NDIS provider page looks at the same border from the Queensland side, including blue cards. This section is about the Tweed itself.
The largest council in its district. The NDIA's Northern NSW service district had 11,285 participants on 30 June 2026. Tweed Shire had 3,255, up from 2,174 in June 2022, ahead of Lismore (2,127), Clarence Valley (2,049), Ballina (1,686), Richmond Valley (1,018), Byron (834) and Kyogle (316). Within the shire, Kingscliff–Fingal Head grew fastest of the larger areas, from 262 participants to 431. Over the border, Coolangatta, Currumbin–Tugun, Palm Beach and Elanora had about 980 participants between them, but they're counted in a different district with different local partners.
Who participants are. Autism was the primary disability for 5,043 of the district's participants and intellectual disability for 1,494. Psychosocial disability came third at 1,053, or 9.3%, a little above the 8.5% national share, so a provider supporting people with mental health conditions should explain plainly how its workers approach that. The district also had 462 participants in supported independent living, up from 328 four years earlier, and 188 living in specialist disability accommodation, with 153 more eligible but not yet using it.
Floods and the website. Tweed Shire Council described the February 2022 flood as one of the biggest in the Tweed's recorded history, with the river at Murwillumbah and Tumbulgum peaking higher than in 2017, and houses and businesses inundated along the coast at Bogangar, Tweed Heads South and Pottsville. The NDIS Practice Standards ask registered providers to plan how they'll keep critical supports going in an emergency and how they'll tell participants, their support networks and workers about changes. If your plan uses the website to do that, a home-page notice that stays hidden until it's needed is easy to build in from the start.
How we'd work together. We're an Adelaide team and work with Tweed providers by phone and email. Our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, though none is in the Tweed and none has NDIS supports as its main work. You send your supports, suburbs on each side of the border and registration details; we send back a draft link you can check on a phone, and you pay once you approve it.
