Website Design for Bookkeepers in Perth

Websites for Perth bookkeepers and BAS agents that tell an owner which side of WA's two employment systems you run payroll for, whether you take on payroll tax registrations and MyLeave returns, what your packages cost, and which part of the metro area you cover, from Joondalup and Ellenbrook down to Cockburn and Baldivis.

What a Perth owner checks on a bookkeeper's site

In WA the first payroll question often isn't which award applies but which system. A sole trader in Midland and a Pty Ltd builder in Osborne Park can owe their staff under different sets of rules, and an owner hiring for the first time may not know which applies to them. They come to your site wanting to see that you've handled businesses set up like theirs, that you'll take on their payroll tax or MyLeave returns, and roughly what a month of your work costs.

  • The business structure, asked up front

The WA Government's guidance says the employer's business structure decides which system applies. Sole traders, and partnerships or trusts where no partner or trustee is a trading or financial corporation, sit in the state system; a Pty Ltd company that is a trading or financial corporation sits in the national one. Make that the first question on your enquiry form, next to staff numbers and pay frequency, and you'll know before the first call whether the job runs under a WA award or a modern award.

  • Both kinds of payroll, named

If you run payroll for state system employers, say so in plain words: WA awards, the Minimum Conditions of Employment Act, and questions that go to Wageline rather than the Fair Work Ombudsman. If every payroll client you have is a company on a modern award, say that instead. A partnership running a cafe in Fremantle wants to see that you've worked with its kind of arrangement before it rings.

  • Payroll tax from the month it starts

Growing employers usually meet RevenueWA when monthly Australian taxable wages first pass $83,333, and registration is due within seven days after the end of that month. If you set clients up in Revenue Online, lodge the monthly returns and look after the 21 July reconciliation, list each of those jobs separately so an owner who has just crossed the line can see you do exactly that.

  • MyLeave returns for construction clients

Employers with eligible construction workers have to register with MyLeave, the state's portable long service scheme for the building industry, and send in a return with a levy every quarter. Owners often pass it to their bookkeeper along with the BAS. If you prepare those returns, name MyLeave on your services list, or give building clients a page of their own.

  • A WA payroll calendar, linked to the source

Payroll tax by the 7th of each month, MyLeave by the 15th of the month after a quarter ends, the payroll tax reconciliation by 21 July, and public holidays that don't line up with the eastern states. A short calendar on your payroll page shows owners you work to WA dates. We link each line to the government page that sets it, so a change there doesn't leave your site wrong.

  • North or south of the river

Say where you're based and which areas you visit in person, naming the corridor as well as the suburbs: the northern suburbs from Joondalup up to Yanchep, say, or the south-west corridor through Cockburn and Rockingham. Then say how remote clients work with you. If the practice runs from home, the suburb is enough; the street can stay off the page.

Bookkeeping in Perth: two employment systems and a WA payroll calendar

Registration is national; employment law isn't. TPB registration for BAS work is the same in Perth as in any other city, and our main bookkeeper page covers how a site should show it. What changes in WA is the payroll underneath. The state's Private Sector Labour Relations service explains that two systems of employment law (opens in a new tab) run side by side for private employers. The state system takes in sole traders, partnerships where no partner is a trading or financial corporation, and trusts where no trustee is one. Staff in that system are covered by WA awards made by the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, by registered industrial agreements or by common-law contracts, with the Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 as the floor under all three, and their employers take pay questions to Wageline. Some WA award rates are below the State Minimum Wage, and the state's guidance says the minimum must be paid where that happens.

Long service leave, two ways. The Long Service Leave Act 1958 covers most private sector state system employees and also applies to many national system employers, so it can reach a Pty Ltd client's staff as well. Under the state's guidance, full-time, part-time, casual and seasonal employees may be paid out long service leave when employment ends after seven years' continuous service and can take it after ten, when the entitlement is 8.667 weeks. Many on-site construction employees sit outside that Act because they're in the portable scheme run by MyLeave under the Construction Industry Portable Paid Long Service Leave Act 1985. Employers of eligible construction workers, working visa holders included, register and pay a levy every three months, with the quarterly return and payment due within 15 days of the quarter ending. Apprentices go on the return with their days of eligible work, though no levy is paid for them, and ordinary pay and service days are counted by calendar year rather than financial year, and the levy can change from 1 January each year.

Payroll tax with RevenueWA. The Department of Treasury and Finance charges 5.5% on WA taxable wages, with a tax-free threshold that diminishes between $1 million and $7.5 million of annual Australian taxable wages. Monthly returns are due by the 7th and must be lodged whether or not tax is payable. The June return goes in with the annual reconciliation by 21 July, and the department finishes reconciling in mid-August. An employer whose estimated annual liability is under $150,000 can ask to lodge quarterly, and under $20,000 once a year. Two exemptions are easy to get wrong: wages for apprentices on class A or B training contracts are exempt, but wages for trainees on contracts registered from 1 July 2019 are not; and workers' compensation payments are exempt while make-up pay above the legislated amount is taxable. Detail like that belongs in your conversations with clients rather than on the site, but naming the work tells an owner you know it.

Holidays that follow WA's own list. Public holiday pay depends on which system covers an employee, their award or agreement and whether they're casual, so the dates matter to whoever runs the pays. This year WA Day was on 1 June and the King's Birthday on 28 September, and some regional areas keep the King's Birthday on a date of their own. The Public and Bank Holiday Amendment Act 2026 rearranges the list from 2028: Easter Saturday and a Show Day become public holidays, the King's Birthday shifts to the second Monday in June, WA Day to the second Monday in November, and Labour Day to the second Monday in March, or the third in a state election year. If your site shows closure days or a payroll calendar, those lines will need changing, and the WA Government's holiday list (opens in a new tab) is the page to link.

Where your clients are, and where we are. The Perth metropolitan area is divided into 30 local governments, 20 cities, seven towns and three shires, with Stirling and Wanneroo the two largest by population in 2022, ahead of Joondalup and Swan. Mandurah sits outside that count, in the Peel region. Jobs and Skills Australia's figures from the 2021 Census put 9,200 bookkeepers in WA, 11.6% of the national total, when the state had 10.8% of all employed people, so an owner searching from Baldivis or Ellenbrook has plenty of names to compare. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St and work with Perth businesses by phone and email. Adelaide runs two and a half hours ahead of Perth during South Australian daylight saving and an hour and a half ahead the rest of the year. Our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD; we haven't yet built for a WA business.

Two Adelaide sites with parts a Perth bookkeeper would reuse

We haven't built a bookkeeper's website in Perth, and none of our current clients are in WA. The two below are Adelaide sites with pieces that carry straight across: an enquiry form with a referral option, and a quote form that sets out fee ranges. The review underneath is from an accounting firm we built for.

Home page of the Golden Years Aged Care Support website

Golden Years Aged Care Support

Home & care services · Northern Adelaide

In-home aged care support across Northern Adelaide. Nine services are explained on one page in large, readable text, and the enquiry form has a referral option for aged care providers sending a client through. If local accountants send clients your way, the same option suits you: the referring practice adds its name, and you know who to thank.

Home page of the Simple Engineers website

Simple Engineers

Professional services · Adelaide

Structural engineers in Adelaide. Their quote form sets out fee ranges and takes file uploads, and the site has tap-to-call. A bookkeeper's version would show the starting price of each package as an owner picks one. We'd ask for a rough monthly transaction count instead of uploads, so nobody sends bank statements through a website form.

“Salem was fantastic to work with on our accounting firm’s website. From day one, he was professional, responsive…”

Questions Perth bookkeepers ask us

Most of our payroll clients are sole traders and partnerships. What should the site say?

That you run payroll for state system employers, and what that means in your practice: WA awards, the Minimum Conditions of Employment Act, WA long service leave. Link to the state's which system applies (opens in a new tab) page rather than restating the coverage rules, since the state's guidance says there's no definitive rule for some organisations, not-for-profits among them. We build the site; how you describe your services is your call.

Should the enquiry form ask whether a client is a company or a trust?

We'd make it one tap: sole trader, partnership, trust, Pty Ltd company, or not sure, with a follow-up asking whether a trust's trustee is a company. It takes seconds on a phone and tells you which system you're likely quoting for. The rest stays short: staff numbers, pay frequency, software, and whether they're registered for payroll tax or MyLeave.

Is MyLeave worth listing if only a few clients are builders?

Yes, as one line in your payroll services, such as quarterly MyLeave returns for construction employers. A builder skimming the page will spot it. If building clients are a large share of your work, a separate page on the 3-page or 8-page site can cover MyLeave, the ATO's taxable payments annual report and how you treat apprentices, written in your words.

Will the site need changing when WA's public holidays move in 2028?

Only where it lists dates. If your contact page names the days you close, or your payroll page carries a holiday calendar, Easter Saturday, Show Day and the new dates for WA Day, Labour Day and the King's Birthday will need adding. That's a text edit on an existing page, included in the $30 monthly hosting. A link to the WA Government's list never goes out of date.

We look after clients from Joondalup to Mandurah. One page per area?

On a 3-page site, one service-area section listing the suburbs and councils you visit is usually plenty. With 8 pages you could give the northern suburbs, the south-west corridor and Mandurah a page each, saying how often you're there in person and how everyone else works with you. If your work is all remote, one sentence saying so does the job.

You're in Adelaide. How does a Perth bookkeeper work with you?

By phone and email. Send your packages, your BAS agent number if you have one, the suburbs you cover and a photo; we build the draft, send you the link, and you ask for changes until it reads right. No deposit, and you pay once you approve it. We're ahead of Perth by an hour and a half, or two and a half during South Australian daylight saving, and we reply within 24 hours.
