Website Design for Bookkeepers in Sydney

Websites for Sydney bookkeepers and BAS agents that tell a business owner, before they ring, whether you can lodge their BAS, which NSW payroll returns you take care of and what a month of your work costs, whether they trade in Parramatta, Cronulla or Castle Hill.

What a Sydney bookkeeper's website has to answer

A Sydney owner usually starts looking for a bookkeeper at a pressure point: a first payroll tax registration with Revenue NSW, an icare renewal asking for last year's actual wages, or a quarter of receipts nobody has coded. Your site should show them, without a phone call, that you handle that exact job and roughly what it will cost.

  • Each NSW payroll return named

"Payroll services" tells an owner very little. If you prepare monthly payroll tax returns, icare wage declarations or the quarterly Long Service Corporation returns for cleaning companies, list each one by its proper name. Someone searching for help with one of them wants to see that word on your page.

  • Fees that say which returns are included

Show a starting price for each package, and state whether the payroll tax return or the icare declaration sits inside it or is quoted separately. A cleaning business owner comparing two bookkeepers will notice which one includes the quarterly levy return.

  • Your area, and whether you come out

Sydney owners search by district: Inner West, Sutherland Shire, Hills District, Northern Beaches, Penrith. Name the suburb you work from, the areas you visit for on-site days and how everyone else works with you. If the practice runs from home, the site can give the suburb and leave the street off.

  • Industries with returns of their own

Cleaning companies lodge quarterly portable long service returns, community service organisations joined a NSW scheme of their own in July 2025, and builders who pay contractors lodge a taxable payments annual report with the ATO. If those clients are a real part of your list, a line for each tells the owner you already know their obligations.

  • Software set-up, under the right registration

Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and whichever receipt app you prefer, named in full. Setting up a new client's file matters here: the TPB counts installing accounting software with GST codes tailored to the client as a BAS service, so if you're registered we place that offer next to your registration number.

  • An enquiry form shaped around payroll

Industry, number of staff, whether they're registered for payroll tax, their icare renewal month and how far behind the books are. Five short questions give you enough to quote a fixed fee, and they're quick to answer on a phone between jobs.

Bookkeeping in Sydney: the NSW work that sits beside the BAS

The national part, briefly. Preparing or lodging a BAS for a fee needs Tax Practitioners Board registration wherever you work, and our main bookkeeper page covers the TPB Register link, the practitioner symbol and where bookkeeping ends and BAS services begin. Two items in the TPB's list of BAS services affect how a Sydney site words its offer: a payroll service that interprets and applies tax law, including Single Touch Payroll reporting, and installing accounting software with GST codes set up for the client. The same list puts advice on taxes and duties under state law, such as NSW payroll tax, outside BAS services. An unregistered practice should read the TPB's guidance (opens in a new tab) before listing either.

Payroll tax and workers insurance. A lot of what Sydney employers hand a bookkeeper goes to NSW agencies, not the ATO. Revenue NSW sets the 2026-27 payroll tax threshold at $1,200,000 in annual wages, with 5.45% payable above it; monthly returns are generally due on the 7th of the following month (14 January for December), and June is folded into the annual return due on 28 July. icare says most NSW employers need a workers insurance policy, the exemption being limited to those paying $7,500 or less in wages a year with no apprentices or trainees and no group membership. It wants actual wages declared within four months of each renewal, and warns that an employer who doesn't declare may see next year's estimated wages lifted by 30%.

Two portable long service schemes. The Long Service Corporation runs schemes that land on a bookkeeper's desk. Contract cleaning employers lodge a return every quarter, due on the 14th of the month after the quarter ends, and pay a levy of 1% of their cleaners' gross ordinary wages, which can't be deducted from pay. A newer scheme for community service organisations began on 1 July 2025. Its levy was cut to 1.3% for the first year and is 1.7% of gross ordinary wages from 1 July 2026, paid quarterly, 14 days after each quarter ends, once the service return is in. If you look after cleaners or community services, these returns are a reason for an owner to pick you, so they belong on the page.

A crowded field. Jobs and Skills Australia's figures from the 2021 Census show about 22,200 people in NSW working as bookkeepers in their main job, 28% of the national total. An owner in Ryde or Liverpool has plenty to choose from, so your area and the industries you know need to be plain on the page. A line such as "based in Penrith, on-site days across Western Sydney, remote for everyone else", followed by the NSW returns you handle, gives them a concrete reason to call.

How we work with you. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, half an hour behind Sydney all year, and we work with Sydney businesses by phone and email. Our clients there include Resolve Forward and Western Sydney Stump Grinding. You send your packages, registration details and a photo; we send back a draft link you can check between lodgement deadlines.

Sydney sites we've built, and an accounting firm's review

We haven't built a bookkeeper's site in Sydney yet. Below are our two Sydney clients: one sells priced packages through a booking page, the other fits everything on a single page with quote forms, which is the shape most sole bookkeepers need. An accounting firm we built for left the review underneath.

Home page of the Resolve Forward website

Resolve Forward

Professional services · Sydney

A Sydney family dispute resolution practice. Its packages are priced on the site and linked straight to online booking. Quarterly BAS, monthly books with payroll, and catch-up work could be laid out the same way, with a quote request in place of booking if you price after seeing the file.

Home page of the Western Sydney Stump Grinding & Tree Removal website

Western Sydney Stump Grinding & Tree Removal

Trades & construction · Western & Greater Sydney

A family-owned tree service in Western Sydney. One page holds the services, the suburbs it covers, customer reviews and two quote forms, with tap-to-call throughout. Put your packages where the services are and the districts you visit where the suburbs are, and it's the layout we'd suggest for a sole bookkeeper.

“Salem was fantastic to work with on our accounting firm’s website. From day one, he was professional, responsive…”

Questions Sydney bookkeepers ask us

Should our site list payroll tax and icare work as separate services?

If you do them, yes, by name, with a note saying whether each is in your monthly fee or quoted on top. We'd link to Revenue NSW and icare for thresholds and dates instead of copying figures that change each year. If you do want a figure shown, updating it later is a text change on an existing page, which the $30 monthly hosting covers.

We work from home in the Hills District. Does the website need our address?

No. Give the suburb or district, a phone number and how clients meet you: at their premises, by video or by phone. Google's Business Profile guidelines tell service-area businesses run from a residential address to hide that address, so your website and your Google listing can say the same thing.

Can we mention the community services long service scheme?

If you prepare those service returns, yes. A sentence in your words saying you handle Long Service Corporation returns for community service organisations, with a link to the Long Service Corporation, is enough. We build websites and don't give compliance advice, so the wording about what you do is yours to check.

Can the site say we set up Xero or MYOB for new clients?

The TPB's guidance lists installing accounting software and setting default GST codes tailored to a client as a BAS service. A registered BAS agent can offer it with the registration number beside it. If you're not registered, read the TPB's guidance first; we'll word the site around whatever you confirm.
