Website Design for Bookkeepers in Brisbane

Websites for Brisbane bookkeepers and BAS agents that show an owner, before they pick up the phone, which Queensland returns you prepare (payroll tax with the QRO, WorkCover wage declarations, QLeave levies), what your packages cost, and whether you'll sit down with them in Indooroopilly, Carindale or Aspley or look after them online.

What a Brisbane bookkeeping site should make clear

Brisbane owners often go looking for a bookkeeper when a Queensland deadline catches them out: a first letter from the Queensland Revenue Office, a WorkCover renewal asking for last year's wages, or a QLeave registration nobody told them about. A few lines on your site should tell them you deal with that exact problem and roughly what it costs.

  • Queensland returns, listed by name

Monthly and annual payroll tax returns, the WorkCover Queensland wage declaration, QLeave quarterly returns for cleaning and community services employers. Each has its own name, and an owner holding a letter about one of them searches for that name. A single word like "payroll" won't match what they type.

  • Packages that say what's inside

A from-price for quarterly BAS, monthly books, and books with payroll, each with a note on whether the QRO return, the WorkCover declaration or a QLeave return is part of the fee or quoted on top. A cleaning company owner comparing three bookkeepers will look for that line before anything else.

  • The councils you cover, not just the city

Brisbane City is one council. Logan, Redland, Moreton Bay and Ipswich surround it, and owners in Springwood, Cleveland or North Lakes search with their own suburb. Say where you're based, the areas you visit for on-site days and how clients further out send you their paperwork. A home-based practice can name the suburb and leave the street off.

  • Clients who pay levies of their own

Contract cleaners and community services organisations lodge QLeave returns every quarter. If those clients make up a real part of your list, a short section for each shows an owner that you already know the timetable, and a link to QLeave beside it lets them check the detail themselves.

  • Registration and software side by side

Your BAS agent number with a link to the TPB Register, then the platforms you work in: Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and whichever payroll or receipt apps you prefer. The TPB counts a payroll service that applies tax law, including setting up STP-enabled software, as a BAS service, so if you're registered that offer sits right next to the number.

  • An enquiry form that asks the Queensland questions

Number of staff, whether they're registered with the QRO, whether their WorkCover policy is current, any QLeave registration, the software they use and how many months behind the books are. Six short answers give you enough to quote a fixed fee without a discovery call.

Bookkeeping in Brisbane: the Queensland returns beside the BAS

The national rules first. BAS agent registration with the Tax Practitioners Board works the same in Brisbane as anywhere else, and our main bookkeeper page covers how a site should display it. One row in the TPB's table of examples matters in Queensland more than people expect: it marks advice on taxes and duties under state or territory legislation as not a BAS service. That's why we give QRO payroll tax work its own line on your site rather than folding it into the BAS offer. Read the TPB's guidance (opens in a new tab) before you settle the wording of either.

Payroll tax with the QRO. The Queensland Revenue Office lists the threshold as $1.3 million in annual Australian taxable wages, with tax at 4.75%, rising to 4.95% for employers or groups paying more than $6.5 million. Periodic returns are generally due seven days after each month ends (14 January for December). Monthly lodgers have no June return: June's wages go into the annual return, due 21 July each year. There is a 1% regional discount, but only for employers based in seven SA4 regions such as Townsville, Cairns and Wide Bay, which leaves Brisbane out. An owner whose wages are edging towards the threshold wants to see that you'll look after registration and the first returns.

WorkCover and QLeave. WorkCover Queensland says all Queensland employers must have an accident insurance policy, and each year it wants two figures by 31 August: actual wages for the year just ended and an estimate for the year ahead. Directors, partners, sole traders and trustees aren't covered by that policy. Declaring on time keeps the 3% discount for paying in full by 16 September within reach; miss the date and WorkCover assumes wages have gone up. QLeave's portable long service schemes reach a bookkeeper's desk too. Contract cleaning employers register within seven days of starting in the industry, lodge a return every quarter and pay a levy that fell from 0.75% to 0.5% of ordinary wages on 1 July 2026. Community services employers lodge quarterly too, under their own scheme and levy rate. For both schemes, returns and levies are due 14 days after each quarter ends.

One city, several calendars. The Royal Queensland Show holiday applied in the City of Brisbane on Wednesday 12 August 2026, while Logan, Redland and Moreton Bay had theirs on Monday 10 August and Ipswich held its show day on 15 May. A client with a warehouse in Rocklea and a shop in Springwood runs payroll across two of those calendars, which is one more reason to name the councils you work in. The pool of clients is large: ABS counts for June 2025 put 145,916 businesses in the Brisbane City council area, about 54,700 of them with employees. Professional, scientific and technical services make up the biggest group, at about 18%, followed by rental, hiring and real estate, then construction. Competition is real too. Jobs and Skills Australia's 2021 Census figures show about 16,900 people in Queensland working mainly as bookkeepers, so an owner choosing between practices needs a clear reason to call yours.

How we work with Brisbane practices. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, working with Queensland businesses by phone and email; our clients in the state include a dance school on Brisbane's Bayside and a licensed plumber and gas fitter. Brisbane keeps the same time all year and Adelaide changes its clocks, so we're half an hour behind you from April to October and half an hour ahead the rest of the year. You send your packages, registration details and a photo, and we send back a draft link to look over between lodgement dates.

Queensland work we've built, and an accounting firm's review

We haven't built a bookkeeper's site in Brisbane yet. The nearest examples are a Bayside dance school with a page for each program and an online enrolment form, and a Sydney practice whose priced packages link straight to online booking. The review underneath comes from an accounting firm we built a site for.

Queensland Dance & Performing Arts

Community, creative & tourism · Thorneside, Brisbane's Bayside

A dance school in Thorneside, on Brisbane's Bayside. Twelve pages: one for each program and the diploma, a weekly timetable, a filterable gallery, FAQs and an online enrolment form. Swap the programs for your packages and the enrolment form for a new-client form asking about staff numbers and QRO registration, and the same structure fits a practice offering three or four services.

Resolve Forward

Professional services · Sydney

A Sydney family dispute resolution practice whose packages carry their prices and link straight to online booking. A bookkeeper could set out quarterly BAS, monthly books with payroll and catch-up work the same way, each with a from-price and a button that opens the scheduling tool you already use for first calls.

Questions Brisbane bookkeepers ask us

Should the site quote the payroll tax threshold and QLeave levy rates?

We'd link to the QRO and QLeave instead of copying their figures, because they change: the contract cleaning levy dropped on 1 July 2026, for example. If you do want a figure on the page, updating it later is a text change on an existing page, which the $30 monthly hosting covers.

Our clients are spread across Logan, the Redlands and the north side. One page or several?

For most sole bookkeepers, one page listing the councils and suburbs you cover is enough. If you keep an office or regular on-site days in two areas, a short page for each, with the right phone number and meeting details, helps someone in Cleveland or North Lakes see that you're nearby.

Can the site offer to register clients for payroll tax or QLeave?

If that's work you do, yes, in your own words, with links to the QRO and QLeave. The TPB's guidance treats advice on state taxes separately from BAS services, and we build websites rather than give compliance advice, so checking the wording of what you offer is up to you.

Can new clients book a first call through the site?

Yes. We can link the scheduling tool you already use, such as Calendly, from every page, or build booking into the site itself, which we quote once we know what you need. Either way, the button sits beside your packages.

You're in Adelaide. How does a Brisbane bookkeeper work with you?

By phone and email from start to finish. You send your packages, registration details and a photo; we build a draft and send you the link, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay only once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.
