Website Design for Bookkeepers on the Gold Coast

Websites for Gold Coast bookkeepers and BAS agents whose clients are mostly builders, trades and small employers: a page that says you lodge TPARs and prepare QBCC figures, how your payroll package handles Payday Super, whether you look after staff who live on the Tweed side, and which stretch of the coast you cover, from Upper Coomera down to Palm Beach.

What a Gold Coast bookkeeper's site needs to cover

More Gold Coast businesses work in construction than in any other industry, and most of the rest are owners working alone or with a handful of staff. Those two groups ask a bookkeeper different questions, and your site can answer both before anyone rings.

  • A section for builders and trades

Builders who pay subcontractors lodge a taxable payments annual report each year, contractor licensees report their finances to the QBCC, and larger jobs can need a project trust account. If you take on any of that, a section in your own words listing which parts you do speaks straight to the coast's biggest group of businesses.

  • A quarterly BAS package for sole traders

Close to two-thirds of businesses on the coast employ nobody. A plain package for an owner who just needs the books kept and a BAS lodged each quarter, with a from-price, saves them reading through payroll options they'll never use.

  • Payroll that names Payday Super

Since 1 July 2026, employers have had to pay super with each pay run rather than once a quarter. If your payroll package takes care of that, say so using the term owners have been hearing, and say whether you run weekly, fortnightly or monthly pays.

  • Clients over the border, if you have them

A Coolangatta business whose staff live in Tweed Heads can face payroll tax and workers' insurance questions in two states. If you set up payroll for employers like that, put it on the page, so a Tweed owner doesn't need to phone just to find out whether you deal with NSW.

  • Your part of the coast

The city runs from the northern growth suburbs around Upper Coomera and Pimpama to Coolangatta on the border, with Nerang and Mudgeeraba inland. Say where you're based, which suburbs you'll visit for on-site days, and how clients further away get their receipts and statements to you.

  • A quote form built for trade clients

Licence category, how many subcontractors they pay, staff numbers, pay frequency and how many months the books are behind. Those five answers let you price a catch-up job or a monthly fee before you've opened the file.

Bookkeeping on the Gold Coast: builders, small payrolls and the border

The Queensland part, briefly. Payroll tax with the Queensland Revenue Office, WorkCover wage declarations due by 31 August and QLeave's quarterly returns for cleaning and community services employers apply on the coast exactly as they do in the capital, and our Brisbane bookkeepers page sets out their dates and rates. The coast also sits outside the seven SA4 regions the QRO treats as regional Queensland, so a Gold Coast employer can't claim the 1% regional discount either. BAS agent registration is national, and our main bookkeeper page covers how to show it.

A client base built on construction. ABS business counts for June 2025 put 83,266 businesses in the Gold Coast council area, 15,355 of them in construction. That's about 18%, against under 13% in Brisbane City, and more than any other industry on the coast. Three kinds of reporting come with those clients. Businesses mainly in building and construction that pay contractors lodge a taxable payments annual report by 28 August, and the TPB lists completing and lodging one for a client as a BAS service; in 2026 that deadline fell on the Gold Coast Show public holiday, which applies only in the City of Gold Coast. Contractor licensees send the QBCC an annual report showing they still meet the financial requirements for their maximum revenue category. Individual licensees in the two smallest categories (maximum revenue up to $800,000) no longer have to, though companies in those categories still do. For most categories, the QBCC says the annual information doesn't need to be prepared by an accountant and can be based on the latest tax-year figures, which is where a bookkeeper's records come in. The QBCC also requires a separate project trust account for each eligible contract; for private work, the contract price its rollout page lists is $10 million or more, excluding GST.

Small payrolls and Payday Super. Of those 83,266 businesses, 52,343 employ nobody and 21,663 employ between one and four people, so most clients are sole operators or small crews. Under the ATO's Payday Super rules, from 1 July 2026 super has to reach each employee's fund within seven days of payday, not counting weekends and public holidays (with some exceptions, such as for new employees), instead of by a quarterly deadline, and employers report the new super figures through Single Touch Payroll. The TPB counts services relating to super that form part of a payroll function as BAS services, so a payroll package that covers this belongs next to your registration number.

Staff on both sides of the border. When an employee works in more than one state in a month, the QRO decides where the wages are taxed with four tests applied in order, and the first is the employee's principal place of residence. For a Tweed Heads resident who spends some days at a Coolangatta site and some in Tweed, that first test points to NSW. Workers' compensation runs on a separate state of connection test, which WorkCover Queensland starts with where the worker usually works. Employers who straddle the border are a client group of their own, and if you look after them, the site should say which NSW obligations you handle; our Sydney bookkeepers page covers the NSW returns.

Working with us from Adelaide. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St and work with Gold Coast businesses by phone and email; our Queensland clients include a licensed plumber and gas fitter and a dance school on Brisbane's Bayside. From October to April, when South Australia is on daylight saving and Queensland isn't, we're half an hour ahead of you, and half an hour behind for the rest of the year.

A Queensland trade client and a fee-range quote form

We haven't built a bookkeeping site on the Gold Coast. M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas, one of our Queensland clients, is the kind of trade business a coast bookkeeper looks after, and its one-page site is the layout we'd suggest for a sole practice. Simple Engineers, in Adelaide, shows how a quote form can display a fee range.

Trades & construction · Queensland

A licensed Queensland plumber and gas fitter. One page carries a six-service overview, a 13-photo gallery that swipes on mobile, client testimonials, a protected contact form and tap-to-call. On a bookkeeper's site the services become your packages, the gallery can go, and the testimonials come from trade clients who've agreed to be named.

Adelaide structural engineers whose quote form shows fee ranges and takes file uploads. Change the services to catch-up books, quarterly BAS and TPAR preparation and a builder sees a likely fee straight away; bank statements would still go through your own client portal.

Questions Gold Coast bookkeepers ask us

Is a page just for builders worth having?

If builders and trades are a large share of your list, yes. A page in your own words covering TPARs, the QBCC figures you prepare and how you handle trust account reconciliations tells a builder you've done this before. With only a few trade clients, a paragraph on your services page is enough.

Can we say we prepare QBCC annual reports?

If you do, yes, but be specific. The QBCC says that, depending on turnover, reporting can be a simple declaration or need reports prepared by a qualified accountant, so the site should say which part is yours: the annual figures for a smaller licensee, for example, or the records you hand to the client's accountant. We link to the QBCC for the rules and don't give compliance advice.

Some of our clients' staff live in NSW. What should the site say?

A line on the payroll page saying you set up payroll for employers on both sides of the border, and which NSW obligations you take care of, answers the question a Tweed owner would otherwise ring about. We link to the QRO, Revenue NSW, WorkCover Queensland and icare rather than restating their rules.

Should our payroll package mention Payday Super?

Yes, by name. Owners have heard the term and want to know whether their bookkeeper handles it. Say which pay cycles you run and whether paying super with each pay run is part of the fee. If your pricing changes later, that's a text edit covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

You're in Adelaide. How does a Gold Coast bookkeeper work with you?

Entirely by phone and email. You send your packages, registration details and a photo; we build the draft and send a link, you ask for any changes you want, and you pay only once you've approved it. We reply within 24 hours.

Planning a website for your Gold Coast practice?

Tell us who your clients are, the returns you prepare and whether you're a registered BAS agent. We'll quote first, build the draft, and you pay only once you've approved it.
