Website Design for Painters in Cairns

Websites for Cairns painters working from Palm Cove and the northern beaches through the city to Edmonton and Gordonvale. A booking note that's honest about the wet season, a page for unit and resort complexes, and your QBCC licence on every page.

What a Cairns painter's website needs

Two things shape painting work in Cairns more than anywhere further south: the weather decides when exteriors can be done, and a large share of buildings are run by a committee rather than one owner. A useful site deals with both before the phone rings.

  • Exterior bookings tied to the dry

Say when you schedule outside walls and roofs, how far ahead the dry-season diary fills, and what happens to a booked exterior if the rain sets in. Then list the work you happily take on in the wet, such as interiors, stairwells and covered walkways, so owners know a January call isn't wasted.

  • Mould treatment as part of the preparation

In a climate this humid, black spotting on eaves and shaded walls is one of the first things an owner points to when asking about an exterior. A short paragraph on how you wash, treat and rinse mould and mildew, and how long surfaces get to dry before the first coat, answers it, especially with a before-and-after pair beside it.

  • A page for unit and resort complexes

Committees, body corporate managers and on-site managers compare painters on past buildings, staging, insurances and how residents and guests are kept informed. Give them a page of their own listing complexes you've painted (with permission), separate from house repaints, laid out so it can be forwarded before a committee meeting.

  • Salt-exposed roofs and metalwork

If you repaint roofs, balustrades, gates and stair rails near the water at Holloways Beach, Yorkeys Knob, Trinity Beach or Palm Cove, describe how you deal with rust and salt residue and which coating systems you use there. You supply the detail and the product names; we lay them out with your photos.

  • Towns beyond the Cairns council

Port Douglas and Mossman are in Douglas Shire, Kuranda and Mareeba in Mareeba Shire, and Atherton in Tablelands Regional Council. If you go up the range or up the coast, name those towns and say whether travel changes the quote, so a Port Douglas owner doesn't assume you stop at Ellis Beach.

  • A quote form that asks about timing and occupancy

House, unit or complex; how many storeys; whether the building stays occupied or runs as a holiday let; which months suit; and photos of the walls. A body corporate enquiry also asks for the number of lots and who the manager is. Everything arrives in your email.

Painting in Cairns: rain, humidity and a lot of complexes

Licensing is the same in Cairns as in the south-east: the QBCC requires a licence for painting work valued at more than $3,300, and your website, like any other advertising, has to show your licensed name, your licence number and that you're licensed under the QBCC Act. Our Brisbane painters page sets out those rules and the QBCC's warnings about painting defects. Here we've stuck to what's different about painting in the Far North.

The Bureau of Meteorology's long-term averages for Cairns Aero explain the calendar. Rain averages about 2,019 mm a year, and January, February and March each average more than 400 mm across roughly 16 rain days. From August to October it's under 50 mm a month on about five rain days. Average 9am humidity sits between 75% and 78% from January to May. Wattyl's protective coatings info sheet on application conditions says most coatings have an upper limit of 85% relative humidity and that the surface should be at least 3°C above the dew point, so a humid wet-season day can hold up an exterior even when it isn't raining.

Cairns also has more strata than its population might suggest. A Titles Queensland count last updated in February 2022 put 1,865 community titles schemes in the Cairns council area, more than the 1,534 in Townsville, although Cairns had about 26,000 fewer residents at the 2021 census (166,943 against 192,768). In Queensland's body corporate system the body corporate manager isn't responsible for maintaining common property but may organise work if the committee asks, and a caretaking service contractor is a service contractor who is also authorised as the scheme's letting agent. In practice a repaint can be raised by the on-site manager, quoted through the body corporate manager and decided by the committee, so your site needs to make sense to all three.

In rentals, Queensland's minimum housing standards require a home to be free of mould and damp unless the tenant caused it, and the RTA says that where mould is caused by a natural disaster, the property manager or owner is responsible for dealing with it. In a region that saw widespread flooding after Cyclone Jasper in December 2023, that can bring painters into remediation work for owners and property managers. If it's work you do, describe your process and link to the RTA's mould page for the rules.

We're an Adelaide team at Hutt St and work with Cairns businesses by phone and email, so the distance doesn't slow anything down. You send photos, your licence details and the suburbs and towns you cover; we send a draft link you can check on your phone between jobs, and you pay once you approve it.

Painting and Queensland trade websites we've built

We haven't built for a Cairns painter yet. SA Painting Professionals in Adelaide is our painting client, and M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas is a licensed Queensland trade we built for entirely by phone and email, the way we'd work with you.

Home page of the SA Painting Professionals website

SA Painting Professionals

Trades & construction · Adelaide & all of SA

An Adelaide company painting house interiors and exteriors, roofs, shops, factories and specialty finishes. Its 12 service pages keep commercial and industrial work apart from homes, and region pages, a postcode and suburb search, an online quote form and tap-to-call do the rest: the structure a Cairns painter with complex work would need.

Home page of the M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas website

M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas

Trades & construction · Queensland

A Queensland plumber and gas fitter. One page carries six services, client testimonials, a protected contact form and a 13-photo gallery that swipes on a phone, which is roughly what a sole painter doing house repaints needs to start with.

“Rebuilt two websites for our businesses and saved us a fortune on hosting etc. Nothing is ever a problem, will email back on a Saturday night if need be.”

Questions from Cairns painters

Should the site say we don't do exteriors in the wet season?

It should say what you actually do. If you book exteriors mainly from May to November, say so, along with what you do when rain or humidity stops work on a booked job. Owners in Cairns understand the weather; what annoys them is not knowing. A line near the top of the page, which you can change as the season turns, does the job.

Can one site handle house repaints and resort complexes?

Yes, as long as they're kept apart. Houses get the home page and their own gallery; complexes get a page that lists buildings you've painted, how you stage work around guests and residents, and your insurances, with a form that asks for the number of lots and the manager's details. Each reader lands on the part meant for them.

We work in Port Douglas and on the Tablelands too. How do we show that?

Name the towns, not just the regions: Port Douglas, Mossman, Kuranda, Mareeba, Atherton, Malanda or wherever you go. Say whether there's a travel component in the quote and roughly how far ahead those jobs are booked. If one area brings in a lot of work, a page with jobs from there can be added later.

Can the quote form cope with a building that stays open to guests?

Yes. It can ask whether the building is occupied, run as holiday accommodation or empty, which months suit, and who on site will coordinate access. Those answers tell you how to stage the job before you visit, and they show the manager you've thought about guests.

You're in Adelaide. How does that work for a Cairns painter?

By phone and email, which is how we work with every business outside Adelaide. We're a web design team based in Adelaide, South Australia, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. There's no deposit: we build the draft first, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.
