Website Design for Painters

Websites for house painters and commercial painting contractors: before-and-after photos up front, your licence or registration number (if your state issues one) where customers look for it, and a quote request that takes a minute on a phone.

What a painter's website has to do

Someone hiring a painter is paying for a finish they can't see yet. Homeowners want proof you're careful with furniture, floors and gardens; property managers and builders want to know you can repaint a vacant unit or a fit-out to a deadline. Your site should speak to both without mixing them up.

  • Before-and-after pairs, not just a gallery

A chalky, faded weatherboard front beside the same house in its new colours says more than a dozen close-ups. We set out each job as a pair, labelled with the suburb and the kind of work (exterior repaint, interiors, roof or render), so visitors can find a job like theirs.

  • Residential and commercial kept apart

A homeowner choosing a colour for the lounge and a strata manager booking a stairwell repaint are asking different questions. Separate sections, or separate pages on a larger site, let each find their kind of work, with commercial details such as after-hours painting, low-odour products or site inductions if you offer them.

  • Your colour advice, if you give it

Choosing colours is often where a homeowner gets stuck. If you offer a colour consultation, organise sample pots or help customers use a paint brand's colour tools, a short section on how that works, and whether it's part of your quote, gives an undecided homeowner a reason to ring.

  • Licence or registration where people check

Several states regulate painting. NSW licenses residential painting jobs above a set value, although a stand-alone contract for interior painting is exempt. Queensland's QBCC issues a painting and decorating licence, and WA requires painters to be registered for any job above a low value threshold. Where you hold one, the number goes in the footer of every page, next to your insurance details.

  • Preparation and products explained

Whether a repaint lasts comes down mostly to what happens before the first coat. A few lines on how you wash, scrape, sand, fill and prime, and which paint ranges you use, answer the questions careful customers would otherwise ask on the phone.

  • A quote form shaped around painting

Interior or exterior, number of rooms or storeys, the suburb, preferred timing and a photo upload of the walls in question. With that in hand you can give a ballpark or book a site visit without three calls back and forth first.

Painting work we've built

SA Painting Professionals is an Adelaide painting company we built a large site for. Commercial and strata painting has its own page beside interior, exterior, roof and other services, which shows how home and commercial work can sit on one site without blurring together. Below it is a Google review about how we handle changes to a draft.

What a painting website costs

One page

$399

Before-and-after photos, services, suburbs, licence, a quote form and tap-to-call on a single page. Suits a painter who mostly does homes.

Our suggestion for most painters

Up to 3 pages

$899

A home page, a residential painting page and a commercial page, each with its own photos and quote button. Or swap one for a full project gallery.

Up to 8 pages

$1,499

For painting companies with crews and several lines, such as roof painting, render coatings, strata maintenance and colour consulting, each on its own page.

  • Payment. No deposit. We build your draft first, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. If you don't go ahead, you owe nothing.
  • GST. WebCraft Studio isn't registered for GST, so no GST is added.
  • Timing. Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks.
  • Hosting. After launch, hosting is $30 a month: hosting, security monitoring, backups, email support and unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages. New pages or features are quoted first. No contract, cancel anytime.
  • Domain and email. We register your domain in your name (about $20 a year), connect it to your site and set up your business email.

Questions painters ask us

Can you show before-and-after photos side by side?

Yes. Each pair sits together with a short caption: the suburb, what was painted and anything worth pointing out, like timber repairs or a full colour change. On a phone the pair stacks so both photos stay large. Our guide to before-and-after photos has tips on taking them.

Which package suits a painting business?

If most of your work is houses, the one-page site at $399 covers it. If you do both residential and commercial work, the 3-page site at $899 gives each its own page and photos, which is why we suggest it for most painters. Companies with several crews or specialties usually need the 8-page site at $1,499.

Should my licence number be on the website?

Where your state licenses or registers painters, yes. NSW Fair Trading requires the licence number in all advertising, including online, and the QBCC lists websites among the advertising that must show it. In Victoria, a painting-only job doesn't need building practitioner registration, so there the site leans on your insurance, reviews and job photos instead.

Can the quote form ask about the job before you visit?

Yes. We set the fields to match how you quote: interior or exterior, rooms or storeys, rough timing and an upload for photos. Each enquiry comes to your email, ready for you to reply with a ballpark or book a measure-and-quote visit.

Do you work with painters outside South Australia?

Yes. We're an Adelaide web design team and work with businesses across Australia by phone and email; current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. The painting site in our portfolio is SA Painting Professionals in Adelaide.
