Website Design for Tradies in Cairns

Websites for Cairns roofers, sparkies, plumbers, carpenters and other trades that can change with the wet season, list cyclone-upgrade work clearly, and set out the suburbs you cover from the northern beaches down to Gordonvale and Mount Peter.

What a Cairns trade website needs to do

In Cairns the year splits in two. From November to May the rain and the cyclone risk shape the calls; June to October is the drier stretch, when outdoor jobs are easier to schedule. A trade site here should handle both halves, and make it easy to see which parts of a long, thin city you'll drive to.

  • A wet-season notice at the top of the page

When a cyclone watch goes out or the Barron starts rising, customers want to know whether you're working, what you're taking on and how to reach you. A short banner above everything else answers that before they ring. You email us the wording and we change it; text changes are part of hosting.

  • Cyclone-upgrade work listed in the program's words

The Household Resilience Program funds roof replacement (not partial re-roofs), over-batten systems, window protection, garage doors, external solid-core doors and work on external structures. If you do any of these, list them in those words, so an owner with an application in the program can see you quote for exactly that.

  • Suburbs grouped the way Cairns is laid out

We sort your service area into the northern beaches, the Redlynch Valley, the inner suburbs, the southside and the Gordonvale end. Someone in Kewarra Beach or Bentley Park finds their own patch quickly, and you aren't left with one long, unreadable run of names.

  • Mount Peter and the southern corridor

Mount Peter, south of Edmonton, has been identified as a priority urban growth corridor for Cairns, and owners moving into new houses there need fences, driveways, shade structures, air conditioning and landscaping. If you take that work, a line naming Mount Peter and Gordonvale tells them you're already working at their end of the city.

  • Room to book outdoor work for the dry

If you're a painter, roofer, concreter or landscaper who plans exterior work around the drier months, and your diary for June to October fills early, the site can say when you start taking bookings, and the quote form can ask for a preferred month.

  • Repair photos captioned with the suburb

During Jasper in December 2023 the Barron River reached a record level, and Freshwater Creek overflowed towards Redlynch, Brinsmead and lower Freshwater. If you repaired water damage after those floods, photos captioned with the suburb and the repair carry more weight with the neighbours than any general claim.

Cairns conditions that shape a trade website

Licensing works the same way here as in the rest of Queensland: most building trades, plumbers and drainers hold a QBCC licence, electrical contractors are licensed separately, and both have to show their licence details in their advertising, websites included. Our Brisbane tradies page sets out exactly what to show, and we place it in the footer of every page we build.

Cairns Regional Council covers 1,689 km², running from Ellis Beach and Palm Cove in the north, through the Redlynch Valley and the inner suburbs, to Edmonton, Gordonvale and Babinda in the south. Port Douglas isn't part of it: the Shire of Douglas was merged with Cairns in 2008 and became a separate council again on 1 January 2014. Up the range, the Tablelands Regional Council and Mareeba Shire are separate councils too, as are Yarrabah and the Cassowary Coast. If your van goes to any of them, name the towns as well as the word Cairns, because each is its own place with its own council.

Cairns has a tropical monsoon climate, with a wet season from November to May, a drier stretch from June to October and just under 2,000 mm of rain in an average year. Larry (2006), Yasi (2011) and Jasper (2023) all affected the region. Jasper's rain pushed the Barron River past its March 1977 record of 3.8 metres, the worst flood there since records began in 1915; Freshwater Creek overflowed after Copperlode Dam spilled, threatening Redlynch, Brinsmead and lower Freshwater, and the Captain Cook Highway between Cairns and Port Douglas was closed.

The Queensland Government's Household Resilience Program helps owner-occupiers of detached houses built before 1984, within 50 km of the coastline from Bundaberg north to Cape York, make their homes stronger against cyclones and severe storms, which takes in Cairns. It covers 80% of eligible costs up to a cap and pays the grant straight to the contractor. It closed to new applications on 2 October 2026, but existing applicants still have to submit an itemised, quantified quote from their preferred contractor, sign a QBCC-approved contract with a licensed contractor, and have all works finished and final documents in by 1 August 2027. For QBCC-licensed roofers, carpenters and installers, that's a defined list of jobs worth naming on the site.

The city's growth is mostly at its ends. In the ABS estimates for 2024–25, the Gordonvale – Trinity area grew 2.8% and Trinity Beach – Smithfield 2.6%, the two fastest rates in the city. Mount Peter, about 19 km south of the CBD, has a master plan for about 18,500 homes and roughly 40,000 people, and went from 92 residents in 2016 to 689 in 2021. We're an Adelaide team and work with Cairns trades by phone and email: you send your licence details, the areas you cover and your job photos, and we send a draft link you can check on your phone.

Trade sites we've built

We haven't built for a Far North Queensland business yet. These two show what a Cairns trade site leans on: quick contact when urgent work comes in, and photos that prove the job.

Questions from Cairns tradies

Can our website say we do Household Resilience Program work?

If you hold the right QBCC licence and do the eligible works, yes. Describe the jobs you do in the program's terms, say that you provide itemised quotes, and link to the Queensland Government's program pages for eligibility. Questions about whether a particular house qualifies belong with the program team, not on your site.

How quickly can the site change when a cyclone is on the way?

We set up a banner whose wording you send us by email, and changing it is covered by hosting at $30 a month. We reply within 24 hours, so send your notice as soon as a watch is issued rather than when the wind arrives.

Should a Cairns trade site mention Port Douglas or the Tablelands?

Only if you work there. They're separate councils, and people there search with their own town names, such as Port Douglas, Mossman, Atherton or Mareeba. If you charge extra to travel up the range or north past Ellis Beach, say so on the page so the customer isn't surprised.

Can an Adelaide web design team build a website for a Cairns tradie?

Yes. We're an Adelaide (South Australia) team at Hutt St, working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, and our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. Everything happens by phone, email and a draft link, so nobody needs to fly anywhere.

What does a Cairns tradie website cost?

A single page is $399. Up to 3 pages costs $899 and up to 8 pages costs $1,499. The price is the same in every city, no GST is added, and you pay nothing until you approve the draft. Hosting is then $30 a month with no contract.
