Website Design for Concreters in Adelaide

Websites for Adelaide concreters, built by a web design team on Hutt St. Your CBS licence and its conditions in plain text, a short guide to the kerb invert and crossover in the councils you work in, driveways and slabs in separate galleries, and a quote form that asks about the stobie pole before you drive out.

What an Adelaide concreting website has to settle

In Adelaide the driveway job rarely stops at the front boundary. There's a kerb invert to cut or replace, a crossover over the verge built to that council's drawing, and often a stobie pole, a pit or a street tree sitting right where the owner wants the car to go. Your site can show the finished concrete and still explain those few steps, so the people who ring already know roughly how the job will run.

  • Licence details that match the register

Consumer and Business Services issues each building work contractor's licence with conditions that set out the type of work the holder can contract for. If you hold one, we put the licensed name, the number and those conditions in the footer as text, worded the way the CBS public register shows them. If part of your work sits outside a licence, the services page describes what you do take on, and CBS remains the place for anyone to check a borderline case.

  • The invert and crossover, explained once

Owners often don't realise the strip between their boundary and the kerb belongs to council, or that a new invert needs permission before anyone cuts the kerb. A short section that names the councils you work in, says who lodges the application, and notes that each council has its own standard drawing saves the same conversation on every quote. It also explains why your crossover price can differ between, say, Seaford and Lockleys.

  • Driveways, slabs and outdoor areas in their own galleries

A homeowner after a coloured driveway and a builder looking for someone to pour a house slab want different photos. We set up separate galleries for driveways, house and shed slabs, and paths, patios and pool surrounds, each filtered by finish: plain, coloured, exposed aggregate, stencilled or stamped, honed. Captions carry the suburb and the finish, and the council where it helps a reader picture the paperwork.

  • A square-metre guide, only if you want one

Some concreters publish a starting rate; plenty don't. If you do, we place your figure next to what moves it: breaking out an old slab, carting spoil, a pump on a narrow block, depth and mesh, the invert and the council's fee. You set the numbers and wording, and changing them later is one email. If you'd rather price everything on site, the page explains what you measure and when the written quote follows.

  • A quote form that asks the Adelaide questions

Beyond length, width and finish, the form asks for the suburb, whether an old driveway or invert has to come out, whether it's a corner block, and whether a stobie pole, an electricity pillar, a pit or a street tree is near the spot for the new crossover. A required photo from the street shows most of that at a glance. Those answers tell you whether a relocation or a tree approval is likely before you've measured anything.

  • A page for builders, engineers and shed companies

Site supervisors want to see that you work from the engineer's footing and slab design, what you pour (strip footings, waffle pods, raft slabs, shed and garage floors), how much notice you need and how far you'll travel. A short page with a direct mobile number and a few slab photos captioned with the suburb and slab type gives them what they're checking for.

Concreting in Adelaide: licences, inverts, poles and clay

Licensing in brief. How South Australia licenses building work contractors, the supervisor registration behind each licence and the rule that your advertising carries your licence number are covered on our page for Adelaide builders. For concreters the useful detail is in CBS's own building licence FAQs (November 2025): every licence carries conditions stating the work you can contract for, contracting for work outside them is an offence, and your supervisor's registration has to cover the same type of work. The Law Handbook lists paving among the work prescribed as domestic building work, and since 10 November 2025 domestic jobs under $20,000 have been classed as minor domestic building work, regulated more lightly than bigger contracts. The same FAQs say your licence number, which starts with BLD, has to appear on any advertisement, so it belongs on every page of your site, and listing your conditions accurately shows clients the work you're licensed to contract for.

Two councils, two crossover specifications. Metropolitan Adelaide is split across many councils, and the crossover drawings change at the boundary. In the south, the City of Onkaparinga handles access changes through its permit to alter a public road, asks for a site plan, photos of the existing infrastructure and public liability insurance if available, and says to allow at least four weeks. Its standard detail SD-420 calls for a 100 mm crossover in 32 MPa concrete with SL72 mesh over a 100 mm PM2/20 base, a brush-finished non-slip surface, a width of no more than 4 metres on local roads, one invert per allotment per frontage, at least 1 metre to kerb ramps and side entry pits, and on corner blocks at least 6 metres from the intersection. In the west, West Torrens requires council approval for a new driveway or crossover, plus separate approval to remove a street tree in the way, and warns of fines for unapproved work. Its drawing WTC 305 (March 2024) specifies 100 mm of 25 MPa concrete with SL62 mesh for houses and 150 mm with SL72 for commercial crossovers, and a separate drawing covers brick-paved crossovers.

Knockdown-rebuilds and the old invert. Infill building leaves plenty of driveways in the wrong place. West Torrens' Asset Protection Program says redundant crossing places, both driveway and invert, must be removed and replaced with kerb and gutter unless council agrees otherwise. It holds the owner responsible for damage to council assets, contractors' damage included, and for developments approved from August 2024 expects repairs within six weeks of site handover, or four weeks where the damage is a safety risk. A concreter who regularly closes off old inverts and pours the new crossover for builders has a service worth naming on its own.

Stobie poles, pillars and what's underground. SA Power Networks lists "relocate a Stobie pole for a new driveway" and moving a pit or pillar out of a driveway among the jobs that need an asset relocation offer. The customer applies through its portal and pays the amount set out in the offer letter, and an upfront fee for preparing the letter may apply. Its guidance on working around electricity infrastructure also says to get underground asset information through Before You Dig Australia before any excavation. One line on your driveway page saying who arranges what keeps an owner from expecting you to move a pole on the day.

Reactive clay, and how we work. The University of Adelaide describes South Australia as renowned for highly reactive soils; its researchers recorded shrinkage cracks up to 40 mm wide and a metre deep at one Adelaide site, and report that the depth of soil movement their model estimated, 3.8 metres, was close to the four metres recommended for Adelaide residential construction. Slab design on ground like that is the engineer's job, so your slab page should say you pour to the engineer's design rather than suggesting you design it. We're at Ste 3/110 Hutt St in the city. Most projects run by phone and email, which suits people on site all day, and a meeting can be arranged if you'd rather talk it through first.

Adelaide sites close to the concreting trade

We haven't built a website for a concreter yet. Two of our Adelaide clients work right beside the trade: a structural engineering practice that designs the slabs and retaining walls concreters pour, and a licensed renovation builder whose site splits its area by region.

Home page of the Simple Engineers website

Simple Engineers

Professional services · Adelaide

Adelaide structural engineers designing concrete slabs, retaining walls and stormwater systems for homeowners and builders. Their site pairs four service pages with 16 articles and a quote form that shows fee ranges and takes file uploads. An Adelaide concreter could use the same form to receive plans and the engineer's slab design with the enquiry.

Home page of the Bright Building & Renovations website

Bright Building & Renovations

Trades & construction · Adelaide, Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu

A licensed South Australian builder covering Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu. The 30-page site has a project gallery, seven service-area pages and a seven-step quote form. For a concreter the area pages could follow council lines, since that's where the crossover rules change, and the stepped form could take measurements, finish and a street photo one question at a time.

Questions Adelaide concreters ask us

Can we show exposed aggregate or coloured concrete running right to the kerb?

Show the jobs you actually poured that way, and put the suburb in the caption. Councils differ on finishes over the verge: Onkaparinga's standard detail asks for a brush-finished, non-slip crossover, while West Torrens publishes separate layouts for concrete and brick-paved crossovers. Captioning each job accurately, instead of implying any finish goes on any street, keeps the gallery honest and stops an owner assuming their council will accept it.

Should our CBS licence number be on every page?

If you hold a building work contractor's licence, yes. We put the licensed name and number in the footer of every page as text, with the conditions shown the way the CBS register lists them, so a client can match the two. CBS's building licence FAQs say the licence number, which starts with BLD, must appear on any advertisement, with a maximum penalty of $5,000 if it doesn't; if you're unsure whether a type of job needs a licence, CBS is the place to ask, and we word the site to match what you tell us.

Owners keep asking us to move the stobie pole. What should the site say?

That it isn't yours to move. SA Power Networks handles pole and pillar relocations through an asset relocation offer, applied for by the customer and paid for at the amount in the offer letter. A sentence on your driveway page, plus a tick-box on the quote form asking whether a pole or pillar is near the new crossover, means you hear about it before the site visit rather than on pour day.

We do a lot of work for builders on knockdown-rebuilds. Is that worth its own page?

If you want more of it, yes. Councils such as West Torrens expect redundant inverts closed off with kerb and gutter and damaged footpaths or crossovers repaired within set times after handover. A page saying you remove old inverts, reinstate the kerb and pour the new crossover to the council's drawing speaks straight to site supervisors who have that on their list.

What can we say about slabs on Adelaide's reactive clay?

Describe your part of the job: you pour to the engineer's design, the slab types you do and the inspections you work around. Leave the design claims to the engineer. Captioning slab photos with the slab type and suburb, and noting that you're happy to receive the engineering drawings through the quote form, is more convincing than general statements about soil.

You're in Adelaide too. Can we meet, or is it all by phone?

Either suits us. We're a web design team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, Adelaide, and most projects run by phone and email, which fits around pours and early starts. You send photos of finished jobs, your licence details and the councils you want more work in; we build the draft, you ask for as many changes as you like, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.
