Adelaide Website Prices in 2026: What You'll Pay and Why

Adelaide is one of the cheaper capitals to buy a website in, yet published 2026 prices still run from about $1,000 for a budget template build to $25,000 for a lead-driven agency site. Here's what Adelaide providers publish, why the city prices below the east coast, and where our fixed prices sit.

Published Adelaide prices for 2026

We took these figures from two 2026 price guides that cover Adelaide: a national cost-guide site that says it verified its numbers in October 2026, and an Adelaide price guide from a web agency, last updated in September 2026. Each row says which one it comes from. Neither says whether its ranges include GST.

WebCraft Studio$399 (one page), $899 (up to 3) or $1,499 (up to 8), no GST added5–10 days from your words and photos; 2–3 weeks for up to 8 pages

The two guides don't agree on what's normal. The cost-guide site says most Adelaide small businesses pay $2,000–$6,000, while the agency guide gives an average Adelaide website cost of $4,000–$15,000. Neither explains how it reached its figure, so treat any “average” as a rough marker and compare quotes on what each one includes.

Why Adelaide prices sit below Sydney and Melbourne

Both guides put Adelaide near the bottom of the capital-city range. The cost-guide site says Adelaide's rates sit at the accessible end, and that a custom build costs less here than anywhere on the east coast. The agency guide ranks Sydney and Melbourne at the top, Brisbane and Perth in the middle, and Adelaide and the Gold Coast as typically the most affordable. It puts the gap down to local overheads and salary expectations, not the quality of the work.

Wages point the same way. The ABS put full-time adult ordinary time earnings in South Australia at $1,970.20 a week in May 2026, against $2,083.70 for Australia as a whole. Of the eight states and territories, only Tasmania came in lower.

The agency's Adelaide guide lists these rates:

  • Freelancers: $80–$150 an hour.
  • Web design agencies: $150–$250 an hour.
  • Senior specialists and technical consultants: $180–$300 or more an hour.
  • An in-house web designer: $70,000–$120,000 a year in salary, before super, leave, software and management time.

One eight-hour day therefore costs $640–$1,200 from an Adelaide freelancer and $1,200–$2,000 from an agency. The number of days a provider expects to spend matters as much as the rate, so ask how many hours a quote assumes and what they cover.

Two published Adelaide packages, with GST added

Most Adelaide providers quote job by job, but a few publish package prices. Here are two of them next to ours. Both are written ex-GST, which is usual for a registered business: once GST turnover reaches $75,000, a business must register and add 10% to its prices.

Published Adelaide packages compared, 2026
PackagePagesAdvertised pricePrice with GSTPaid before launch
Southern Adelaide studio, custom WordPressUp to 5$2,950 + GST$3,245Not published

WebCraft StudioUp to 3$899$899, no GST addedNothing until you approve the draft
WebCraft StudioUp to 8$1,499$1,499, no GST addedNothing until you approve the draft

Those packages include things ours don't. The WordPress builds are set up so you can update pages yourself after a handover walkthrough, which some owners want, though the studio notes that annual software fees apply. The other provider says its packages include a free domain, business hosting, and support and changes for 12 months. Ours are hand-coded, so there's no editor to learn and no software to license: you send us a change and we make it, and text and image changes on your existing pages are covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

When paying an Adelaide agency more makes sense

A bigger Adelaide quote usually pays for real work. It's the better route if:

  • you want to edit the site yourself in WordPress or a similar editor, rather than sending changes to someone else;
  • you need the words written or the photos taken, which we don't do;
  • you sell to defence, export or technology buyers, where the cost-guide site suggests treating $6,000–$15,000 as the floor for a capability site;
  • the site needs a members area or a connection to your CRM, which the same guide prices at $15,000–$40,000;
  • you want one firm to handle your SEO and advertising every month after launch.

If none of those apply, compare the inclusions line by line before paying for capacity you won't use.

What an Adelaide site costs once it's live

The agency's Adelaide guide lists the costs that carry on after launch:

  • shared hosting at $20–$50 a month, or $50–$150 for managed WordPress hosting;
  • premium plugin licences, typically $50–$500 a year and $1,500 or more on complex builds;
  • security monitoring at $50–$100 a month, or $150–$500 when an agency manages it;
  • freelancer maintenance at $100–$500 a month, with agency retainers from $2,500;
  • ongoing SEO at $500–$2,000 or more a month;
  • a domain at $15–$50 a year, though the guide notes some providers charge $80–$100 or more.

Our running costs come to two lines. Hosting is $30 a month for sites we build, with no contract, and covers security monitoring, backups, email support and text and image changes on your existing pages. The domain is about $20 a year and registered in your name, so it stays yours whoever hosts the site.

Counting the build, 36 months of hosting and roughly $60 of domain renewals, three years with us comes to about $1,539 for a one-page site, $2,039 for up to three pages and $2,639 for up to eight.

An Adelaide team that works the same way for everyone

We're at Ste 3/110 Hutt St in the city, and every project runs the same way: you send your words and photos, we send a draft link, and you ask for changes until it's right. You pay once you approve the draft. Keeping things that simple is part of how a one-page site can cost $399.

Six of the 14 sites in our portfolio belong to South Australian businesses, and they show what each size of site can hold. Cape Fishing Charters, out of Cape Jervis, fits a booking request form, gift voucher requests, a catch photo gallery, an FAQ, reviews and a map onto one page. Golden Years Aged Care Support in Northern Adelaide has six pages, with nine services explained on one of them and an enquiry form that lets aged care providers make referrals. Simple Engineers, structural engineers in Adelaide, has a quote form that shows fee ranges and accepts file uploads.

A Google review from SA Tiling Pro Pty Ltd covers the fixed-price side: “…gave us a fixed quote so we knew exactly what we were paying, and turned around the build faster than we thought possible.”

Free and low-cost business help in South Australia

Before you brief anyone, get clear on what the site is for. In January 2026 the SA Government's business site listed partner programs under its Small Business Fundamentals Program, describing them as free or low-cost workshops, mentoring and training. Among them were a three-month South Australian Business Chamber program for established owners, with interactive workshops and one-on-one mentoring; mentoring and business consultations at the City of Salisbury's Polaris Centre; and workshops from the Australian Hotels Association (SA) for hospitality and tourism businesses, including digital marketing. The article doesn't give prices for each program and some sessions have already run, so check business.sa.gov.au for what's on now.

Six questions for any Adelaide quote

  1. Is the price written with “+ GST”, and what's the total once 10% is added?
  2. Which software or licence fees renew each year, and who pays them?
  3. How much do you pay before you see the finished site?
  4. Who registers the domain, in whose name, and what does renewal cost?
  5. Can you edit pages yourself, and if not, what does a change cost after launch?
  6. If you stop paying for hosting, can you take the site files with you?

Adelaide website cost questions

How much does a website cost in Adelaide?

Published 2026 figures put a five-to-ten-page small business site at $2,000–$6,000, while one agency's guide puts small business and lead-driven sites at $4,000–$25,000 and online stores higher again. Our sites are fixed at $399, $899 or $1,499 by page count, with no GST added.

Is a website cheaper in Adelaide than in Melbourne or Sydney?

Usually. One agency's 2026 guides rank Adelaide among the most affordable capitals and put Sydney and Melbourne 20–40% higher for comparable builds. Our prices don't change by city: a Melbourne or Sydney business pays what an Adelaide one does.

Do Adelaide website quotes include GST?

Often not. Published Adelaide packages are commonly written as a price plus GST, so a $2,950 package costs $3,245 once 10% is added. WebCraft Studio isn't registered for GST, so nothing is added to our prices.

Do you only build websites for Adelaide businesses?

No. We're based in Adelaide and work with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email. Our current clients are in South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, and the price is the same wherever you are.

What does an online store cost in Adelaide?

Published Adelaide figures run from about $5,000 to $60,000 or more, and one southern Adelaide studio lists WooCommerce stores from $4,950 plus GST. Our hand-coded stores are $799 for up to 25 products with one payment gateway and basic order management, or $1,999 for unlimited products, multiple payment options, customer accounts and advanced shipping.

Can you add online bookings to an Adelaide site?

Yes. We build booking and payment systems into a site and quote each one once we know how your bookings work, or we can link a booking tool you already use, such as Fresha, Cliniko, HotDoc or Calendly. Cape Fishing Charters takes booking requests through a form on its one-page site.
