The state rules are the same as in Brisbane: no licence for coaching, psychologist reserved for registered practitioners, Queensland's code of conduct for unregistered health care workers where coaching becomes a health service, and a blue card for anyone coaching children commercially. Our Brisbane coaching page sets each one out with links to the official guidance, along with the free state mentoring and wellbeing coaching that owners here can use too. What follows belongs to the coast.
At the southern end the state line runs between Coolangatta and Tweed Heads, and the two towns don't share a clock for half the year. The NSW Government (opens in a new tab) lists daylight saving as running from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 and notes that Queensland doesn't take part. A coach who books discovery calls on both sides should state the zone on the booking page and use a tool that converts it; Calendly (opens in a new tab), for one, detects the invitee's time zone and shows your availability in their local time. If you see clients in rooms on the NSW side and your work counts as a health service, the code that applies there is NSW's code of conduct for non-registered health practitioners: NSW Health (opens in a new tab) says most practitioners it covers must display it at their premises or on their website. Our Sydney coaching page explains that code.
Many people on the coast came from interstate. At the 2021 Census, 33,435 Gold Coast residents had been living in New South Wales five years earlier and 12,191 in Victoria, close to the 33,267 who had been overseas. If you moved north yourself and kept clients from Sydney or Melbourne on video, October changes their calendar as well: Sydney and Melbourne move an hour ahead of you, and Adelaide goes from half an hour behind to half an hour ahead. Newcomers are also an audience in their own right. A career or life coach who works with people settling into a new city can say so plainly and name the suburbs where they'll meet, whether that's central Southport, the City's CBD, or Robina, where Bond University has its main campus.
Consultants after work with the City of Gold Coast should know about its local supplier list (opens in a new tab). The City says a business qualifies if it has an office in the Gold Coast local government area, shown with a 100-point identification check, and verified businesses get a badge on VendorPanel. It also reserves the right to invite only local businesses to quote for suitable contracts, and a sourcing plan that leaves local suppliers out needs a robust justification. A buyer who spots your badge will usually open your website next, so the address and services there should match your VendorPanel profile.
The city is long and narrow, and where you sit decides who can get to you easily. Much of the recent growth is in the north: in the ABS estimates for 2024–25, Hope Island, Pimpama – North and Coomera each added more than 600 residents, three of the four largest increases on the coast. In the middle, the light rail's third stage opened on 9 August 2026, adding eight stops over 6.7 kilometres (opens in a new tab) between Broadbeach and Burleigh Heads, so a room near a station is easier to reach than it was. We're an Adelaide team and work with Gold Coast coaches and consultants by phone and email; nobody from our side visits. Because Queensland's clocks don't change, we're half an hour behind you in winter and half an hour ahead in summer.
