The Victorian side, briefly. On the Mildura side of the river, a vacate clean is judged under Victoria's Residential Tenancies Act: reasonably clean, allowing for fair wear and tear, with limits on when a rental provider can require professional cleaning. Since 13 October 2026, rental providers and agents have had to show the renter evidence, such as invoices, receipts, quotes or photos, before claiming on a bond. Our Melbourne cleaners page covers those rules in full.
The New South Wales side. Buronga, Gol Gol, Curlwaa, Dareton and Wentworth belong to Wentworth Shire, which had 7,453 residents at the 2021 Census and faces Mildura across the Murray. A vacate clean there follows NSW tenancy law, where, as the Tenants' Union of NSW explains, reasonably clean is a lower bar than a professional clean, and since 19 May 2025 a landlord can make professional carpet cleaning at the end of the tenancy a condition of agreeing to an indoor pet. Our Sydney cleaners page sets out the NSW rules, and our Albury-Wodonga cleaners page shows how a site can handle work under both states. Both banks keep eastern time (in New South Wales only Broken Hill and the county around it run on central time), so Adelaide, where we are, is half an hour behind.
Dust and heat. Red dust storms reach Mildura from time to time. On 28 February 2022, the Bureau of Meteorology said a gust front ahead of an approaching storm had brought blowing dust into the town, and it was caught on the Bureau's webcam at Mildura aerodrome. Heat is the other constant. On 27 January 2026 Mildura reached a record 48.6°C, and Walpeup, inside the same council area, recorded 48.9°C, a reading matched at Hopetoun Airport that afternoon and above the previous Victorian record of 48.8°C. A Mildura cleaning site that mentions after-storm cleans and summer hours is simply describing the job as it is.
The landfill and the long roads. The Rural City of Mildura covers 22,083 square kilometres, the largest council area in Victoria by land size, with towns from Merbein and Red Cliffs out to Ouyen, Underbool and Murrayville. The Mildura Landfill on Ontario Avenue accepts domestic and commercial waste, opens 8.15am to 4.45pm on weekdays and from 9.30am on weekends, and closes on any day the CFA declares Catastrophic; access to the tip face can also be restricted after rain. Mattresses are taken for recycling only there and at the Ouyen landfill, and the rural transfer stations accept domestic waste on limited hours, such as Murrayville's, open two hours on Thursday afternoons and two on Sunday mornings. If clean-outs are part of your work, the website should say how far you'll go and how disposal is charged.
River stays, and working with us. Holiday cleaning here isn't only houses: Mildura Houseboats, for one, says it has 16 self-contained houseboats, with its base at Buronga on the NSW bank. If you clean holiday units, houseboats or riverside stays, give that work its own section. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St. Mildura is closer to Adelaide than to Melbourne, but we don't travel to clients; everything runs by phone and email. Cleaners who support NDIS participants will find the Mallee district's figures on our Mildura NDIS provider page.
