Website Design for Allied Health Practices in Wollongong

Websites for physiotherapists, podiatrists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians and exercise physiologists in Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama, built so a client can see which practitioner suits them, where on the coast you are and how to book.

What a Wollongong allied health website needs

The Illawarra runs as a long, thin line of suburbs pressed between the escarpment and the ocean, with heavy industry at Port Kembla and a university near the centre. A clinic site here has to be exact about location, clear about work injury claims and quick to book from a phone.

  • Which stretch of coast you're on

Locals place a clinic by area: the northern suburbs, the city, Figtree and Unanderra, Dapto, Shellharbour or Kiama. Put your suburb in the page title and heading, then add a map, parking details and the nearest station on the South Coast Line.

  • How far home visits go

From Helensburgh down to Kiama is a long drive, so a mobile OT or physio lists the suburbs they visit and where they stop. A family in Thirroul then knows straight away whether a Dapto-based therapist will come to them.

  • Work injury claims made plain

For practices that see injured workers: which practitioners are SIRA-approved, the insurers you work with, and what to bring to a first appointment, such as the claim number and any referral or certificate from the treating doctor.

  • Referral details for Illawarra GPs

A page that says what a referral should contain, how to send it, which referral types you accept (Medicare chronic condition plans, DVA, workers compensation, NDIS) and how long the current wait is.

  • Languages, if your team has them

If a practitioner consults in a language other than English, name it on their bio and next to the booking button, where an adult child booking for a parent will see it.

  • Fees and rebates without a phone call

Initial and standard consult fees, on-the-spot health fund claiming if you have it, and a sentence on each funding route you accept, so people know roughly what they'll pay before they book.

Allied health in the Illawarra: what's local

NSW handles a few things its own way, and they apply in Wollongong as much as in Sydney: complaints about registered practitioners go through the Health Professional Councils Authority and the HCCC rather than Ahpra, non-registered professions such as speech pathology and exercise physiology follow a state code of conduct that has to be displayed, and workers compensation treatment needs SIRA approval for several professions. Rather than repeat it here, our Sydney allied health page covers each rule with links to the official guidance.

Public health care in the region is run by Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, which covers the coast from Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south, about 404,000 residents in 2021 across Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven. Its public hospitals include Wollongong, Shellharbour, Bulli and Coledale, and a new Shellharbour Hospital is under construction at Dunmore, due for completion in 2027. Within that strip, the City of Wollongong alone stretches from Helensburgh to Windang at the entrance to Lake Illawarra, which is why a practice's suburb, and the suburbs its mobile clinicians reach, matter more than the word Wollongong.

Referrals have a local tool behind them. COORDINARE, the South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network, runs Illawarra Shoalhaven HealthPathways in partnership with the local health district: a free online resource for health professionals in which each pathway includes referral information for local services. A GP who sends someone for physio, podiatry or dietetics still needs a practice that answers the next questions, so your referral page should cover what to send, where to send it and how soon you can book the person in.

Industry shapes the caseload for some clinics. BlueScope says it employs around 3,000 people directly in the Illawarra and supports about 10,000 jobs in the region through the Port Kembla Steelworks. Practices that treat work injuries need their SIRA-approved practitioners clearly marked, and if you also offer pre-employment or injury management services to local employers, those deserve a short page of their own written for the employer rather than the patient.

We're an Adelaide team and work with Illawarra practices by phone and email. Our portfolio has no allied health clinic and no Illawarra client yet, so the work below is from Melbourne and Adelaide.

Practitioner and care sites we've built

These aren't allied health clinics, but each does part of the job: one is built around a practitioner's credentials and an online booking link, the other around explaining care services and taking referrals from other providers.

Home page of the Dr Tabara Dione Coaching website

Dr Tabara Dione Coaching

Professional services · Melbourne

Coaching for doctors from a Melbourne specialist anaesthetist. Her credentials have an about page of their own and online discovery-call booking is linked from every page, which is the same pattern a clinician's bio and Book button follow.

Home page of the Golden Years Aged Care Support website

Golden Years Aged Care Support

Home & care services · Northern Adelaide

In-home support for older people in Northern Adelaide. Nine services are explained on one page, text is large and easy to read, and the enquiry form has a separate path for aged care providers referring a client, as a coordinator or GP might refer to a clinic.

“Salem walked us through everything, gave us a fixed quote so we knew exactly what we were paying, and turned around the build faster than we thought possible.”

Questions Illawarra allied health practices ask us

We visit clients from Thirroul to Albion Park. How should the site show that?

As a list of suburbs grouped by area, for example the northern suburbs, Wollongong and surrounds, Dapto and Shellharbour, with a line on whether travel is charged. A map circle doesn't tell anyone much on a coast this narrow, and a named suburb is what people type into a search.

Do we need an employer page if we do injury management work?

If local employers are part of your work, it helps. A short page in your own words can cover pre-employment assessments, return-to-work programs and how an employer or insurer refers someone, kept separate from the pages written for patients. It fits within the 8-page site ($1,499) or can take the place of a less useful page on the 3-page site ($899).

Can clients book a specific practitioner online?

Yes, if your booking system supports it. We link the Book button on each bio to that practitioner's calendar in Cliniko, Nookal, Halaxy or whatever you use, and keep a general Book button in the header for people who don't mind who they see. Tap-to-call sits beside it for anyone who'd rather ring.

Which NSW rules affect what goes on our website?

The national Ahpra advertising rules apply to registered professions, NSW's code of conduct for non-registered practitioners applies to professions such as speech pathology and dietetics, and SIRA approval applies to treating workers compensation claims. Our Sydney allied health page summarises all three and links to the official guidance; we set out the wording you approve, and the regulators remain the place to confirm what applies to you.

You're in Adelaide. How does it work with an Illawarra practice?

By phone and email throughout. Our team is in Adelaide and works with businesses across Australia, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. You send your practitioner details, fees, words and photos, we build a draft for you to review, and you pay once you approve it.

Ready to start your Illawarra practice's website?

Tell us your disciplines, where on the coast you work, how clients book now and which funding you accept. We'll quote, build the draft and you pay nothing until you approve it.

We reply within 24 hours. Prefer email? info@webcraftstudio.com.au
