Queensland's rules are the same here as across the river. The Office of the Health Ombudsman takes complaints about all health services, practitioners outside Ahpra registration follow the National Code of Conduct for Health Care Workers (Queensland), and work and road injuries come through WorkCover Queensland and NIISQ. Our Brisbane allied health page explains each one with links to the official guidance, so this section is about Logan.
In Logan, interpreting can cost a private allied health practice nothing. TIS National's Free Interpreting Service is open to private allied health professionals whose registered business or clinic address is in an approved local government area, and Logan is one of six in Queensland, alongside Brisbane, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville. It covers physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, speech pathologists, dietitians, exercise physiologists, psychologists and more than a dozen other disciplines, including mobile and telehealth providers, for clients eligible for Medicare. Each professional applies for a unique client code, and support staff can book using that code. It can't be used for government-funded public services. The TIS National eligibility page (opens in a new tab) has the current rules.
The people who need it are here. At the 2021 Census, 75.1% of Logan residents spoke only English at home; the next most common languages were Samoan (4,557 people), Punjabi (4,147), Mandarin (3,945), Arabic (2,896) and Hindi (2,569). New Zealand was the most common overseas birthplace, at 7.1% of residents, well ahead of England, India, the Philippines and Samoa, and 4.2% of residents identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. The ABS estimated Logan's population at 403,515 in June 2025, up 11,949 or 3.1% in a year, with growth from all three sources: 3,532 from natural increase, 5,105 from people moving from elsewhere in Australia and 3,312 from overseas. Only 13.1% of residents were 65 or older.
For GPs and hospitals, Logan belongs to Brisbane's south. Brisbane South PHN covers about 1.1 million people from Wynnum to Inala and Beenleigh and south to Rathdowney, so a Logan clinic's referrers page will be read by practices following the same network's guidance as those in Sunnybank or Capalaba. Logan Hospital at Meadowbrook is being expanded in stages: in April 2024 the Queensland Government described Stage 1 as 206 beds and treatment spaces, and announced a second stage adding 112 beds and 10 operating theatres. More surgery locally means more people looking for rehab close to home, so if you take post-operative clients, say what a discharge referral should include and how soon you can start.
We're an Adelaide team and work with Logan practices by phone and email. We haven't built an allied health site yet. Below are a Queensland client whose site handles children's programs and enrolments, and a practice whose online booking and intake form work much like a clinic's.
