Website Design for Accountants in Mackay

Websites for tax agents, BAS agents and accounting practices in Mackay, from the city centre and Paget to Andergrove, Walkerston, Sarina and the northern beaches. Mine workers on a roster, engineering and maintenance contractors, cane growers and local families can each see the work you do for them and reach you between shifts.

What a Mackay practice's website should cover

Mackay is the service city for the Bowen Basin coalfields, though the Resource Industry Network, the resources industry network based at Paget, notes that no mining is actually carried out in the Mackay region itself. The ABS counted 11,184 businesses there in June 2025, including 116 in mining, 432 in manufacturing and 908 in professional, scientific and technical services, more manufacturers than Bundaberg, Rockhampton or the Fraser Coast. Your clients work at the mines, supply them, or farm cane in between.

  • A page for roster workers

Operators, maintainers and supervisors who drive or fly out to Isaac or the Whitsunday hinterland ask about allowances, accommodation and protective gear. A page that uses their words, and says you're used to clients who answer email on their days off, will be read by people on swing.

  • Contractors who sell their own labour

Fitters, electricians and engineers who leave a payroll job to contract through their own company or trust often hit the personal services income rules for the first time. If you help them set up and stay on the right side of those rules, say so on a contractors page.

  • Mining services businesses

Engineering, fabrication, hire and maintenance firms in Paget need payroll, cash-flow and growth advice as much as compliance. Describe the kinds of supplier you act for, and the services that matter to them, so a workshop owner sees their business in your list.

  • Cane growers on their own page

The ABS counted 2,028 agriculture, forestry and fishing businesses in the council area in June 2025, about 18% of the total. Give cane farms a section with their own wording rather than folding them into small business.

  • Contact that suits shift patterns

An online booking link or call-back form, a line on early or late appointments if you offer them, and a portal button anyone can find. A client on a seven-on, seven-off roster can deal with you without losing a day at home.

  • Zone B, mentioned in one line

Mackay is on the ATO's Zone B list. One line on your individual returns page saying you check the zone offset, with a link to the ATO's list, saves an explanation on every call.

Accounting in Mackay: the coalfields, contractors and cane

State rules, in short. Mackay practices register with the Tax Practitioners Board and deal with the Queensland Revenue Office on payroll tax, land tax and transfer duty, as Brisbane practices do; our Brisbane accountants page covers the registration side. The rule that the zone offset depends on where a person usually lives, not where they work, is explained on our Townsville page, and farm assets and fuel tax credits on our Toowoomba page. This section is about Mackay.

Three councils, one region. The Resource Industry Network describes the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region as about 90,000 square kilometres across three council areas: Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday. The workforce shows the split: the ABS put the Isaac council area's median age at 34.5 in June 2024, against 39 in Mackay and 40 in the Whitsundays, and Isaac's 2,079 businesses include 832 in agriculture, forestry and fishing. On the ATO's Queensland zone list, Mackay, Andergrove, Walkerston, Marian, Mirani and Sarina are in Zone B, as are Airlie Beach and Proserpine to the north and Nebo and Glenden inland. A practice that names the towns its clients actually live in, and says whether it sees them in person or by phone, will match the way people search.

Mine site employees. The ATO publishes an income and deductions guide written for mining site employees. It covers how travel allowances and living-away-from-home allowances are treated, says you can't claim accommodation or meals your employer provides, and notes that circumstances can be different for fly-in fly-out workers. You don't need to repeat it. A roster workers page that says you prepare these returns every year, and links to the ATO's guide, tells a dump truck operator they've found the right practice.

Contractors and the PSI rules. The ATO defines personal services income as income produced mainly, meaning more than 50%, from a person's own skills or efforts. Someone earning it can self-assess as a personal services business by meeting the results test, or by meeting one of the other tests and passing the 80% rule; if they can't, the rules change how the income is reported and what can be claimed. In a city full of tradespeople contracting to mines and maintenance firms, that's a common first meeting. A contractors page that names the situation, and links to the ATO's PSI pages for the detail, gives those clients a reason to call you.

How we'd work together. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St and build for Mackay practices by phone and email. You send your services, registration details and photos; we arrange them into a draft and send you the link. You pay once you approve it, and owe nothing if you decide against it.

Two client sites with features a Mackay practice could use

Neither is an accounting firm. One is a technical services business that shows likely fees and takes attachments; the other has two quote forms and a clear service-area list. Below them is a review from a Queensland client.

Home page of the Simple Engineers website

Simple Engineers

Professional services · Adelaide

Structural engineers in Adelaide whose quote form gives a fee range before anyone calls, with four service pages and 16 articles. A Mackay practice could use the fee-range idea for contractor setups and roster workers' returns, while anything with a tax file number stays in your portal.

Home page of the Western Sydney Stump Grinding & Tree Removal website

Western Sydney Stump Grinding & Tree Removal

Trades & construction · Western & Greater Sydney

A tree business in Western Sydney with two quote forms, tap-to-call throughout and a list of the areas it covers. For a practice, the two forms become separate enquiries for individuals and for businesses, and the area list names towns from Sarina to the northern beaches.

“They were very helpful and envisioned exactly what I was wanting for my website. They created the site very promptly and cost efficient.”

Questions Mackay practices ask us

Should mine workers have their own page?

If they're a large share of your returns, yes. Use their terms, such as rosters, camps, allowances and protective gear, and link to the ATO's mining site employees guide for the rules. A worker searching on a day off can tell quickly that you know their situation.

Can our website explain the personal services income rules?

Keep it to what you do: that you help contractors work out whether the rules apply and set up their business accordingly, with a link to the ATO's PSI pages. Explaining the tests in full on your site means updating it whenever the ATO's guidance changes.

Our clients live from Sarina to Moranbah. How should the site handle that?

Name the towns on your contact page, say whether you visit any of them, and add a question to your enquiry form asking where the client lives. If one town brings in steady work, it can have its own short page; new pages are quoted before we add them.

Can clients on a roster book appointments online?

Yes. We can link the booking tool you already use, such as Calendly, from the header and contact page, or build a booking system into the site, which we quote per job. Either way, a client can choose a time on their days off.

We've never met you. How does a project from Adelaide work?

Entirely by phone and email. We're an Adelaide (South Australia) team working with businesses Australia-wide, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. You send words and photos, we send a draft link, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Ready for a website that works around the roster?

Tell us who you look after, whether that's mine workers, contractors, Paget workshops or cane farms, and which towns they live in. We'll send a fixed quote, build the draft, and you pay once you've approved it.
