Website Design for Tradies in Mackay

Websites for Mackay electricians, plumbers, fabricators, builders and other trades who do house calls one day and site work the next: a clear path for homeowners, a capability page for the people who hire contractors, and a service area that runs from the northern beaches to Sarina and up the Pioneer Valley.

What a Mackay trade website has to handle

A Mackay trade might spend Monday on a homeowner's switchboard or hot water system and Tuesday on a job for a mine contractor, a Paget workshop or a sugar mill. Those two customers want different things from your website, and the region they live in stretches from the beaches north of the city to the cane towns in the valley and south past Sarina.

  • Separate paths for household and site work

A homeowner wants to know whether you'll come to Andergrove next Tuesday. A maintenance planner wants to know what you can do on a site and whether your paperwork is in order. We give each of them a section of its own, with its own enquiry form, so neither has to wade through the other's information.

  • A capability page that answers a contractor's checklist

List your licences, insurances, plant and equipment, the industries you've worked in and the inductions your crew hold, and link a PDF of your capability statement if you have one. Mine sites set their own entry requirements, so describe what your people hold rather than claiming you're cleared for any site.

  • Suburbs sorted into the patches locals use

We group your service area into the northern beaches (Bucasia, Shoal Point, Eimeo, Blacks Beach, Dolphin Heads), the suburbs around Andergrove, Beaconsfield, Glenella and Mount Pleasant, the city side of the Pioneer, the south around Ooralea and Bakers Creek, the valley towns and Sarina's beaches. A customer finds their own part of town in seconds.

  • Valley and coastal towns with travel days

Walkerston, Marian, Mirani and Finch Hatton are in the same council area as the city, and so are Sarina, Armstrong Beach, Hay Point, Seaforth and Midge Point. If you only get out to some of them on set days, the site should say which, and whether a call-out charge applies for Eungella or the far ends of the coast.

  • A quote form that asks which days suit

If many of your customers work rosters or shifts, a quote form with a field for preferred days, and a question about whether someone will be home, saves a round of phone tag. If you'd rather jobs land straight in a calendar, we can build a booking system into the site and quote it with the rest of the job.

  • Flood and storm repairs captioned by suburb

In February 2008 more than 600 mm of rain fell on Mackay in about six hours, and thousands of homes flooded. If you've replaced flooded switchboards, rebuilt kitchens or re-sheeted walls since then, photos labelled with the suburb and the repair tell a neighbour more than any general claim.

  • Trips to the Isaac and Whitsunday towns spelled out

Moranbah, Dysart, Middlemount and Clermont belong to the Isaac Region, and Proserpine, Cannonvale and Airlie Beach to the Whitsunday Region. If your crews head west to the mines or north up the highway, name the towns and how often you're there, because a customer in Proserpine won't assume a Mackay trade makes the drive.

What's particular about trade work around Mackay

Licensing here follows the same Queensland rules that apply from the Gold Coast to the Cape. Most building and plumbing trades hold a QBCC licence, electrical contractors are licensed under a separate scheme, and both have to show their licence details in their advertising, which includes a website. Our Brisbane tradies page sets out what has to appear; on a Mackay site we put it on every page, beside your phone number.

Mackay Regional Council was formed on 15 March 2008 from the City of Mackay and the shires of Mirani and Sarina, all three of them sugar districts. It covers about 7,600 km² and had an estimated 129,253 residents in June 2025. The year's growth of about 1,100 people came almost entirely from births outnumbering deaths and from overseas arrivals, with a net gain of only 25 people from the rest of Australia. The median age was 39.2, close to the national figure of 38.4. Andergrove – Beaconsfield added the most residents (314), and Seaforth – Calen grew 1.6%. Beyond the boundary, the Isaac Region takes in Moranbah, Dysart and Clermont, and the Whitsunday Region takes in Proserpine, Cannonvale and Airlie Beach.

Mining has become the mainstay of the local economy, though the mines themselves are out west: Mackay is the gateway to the Bowen Basin coalfields, and coal railed in from the west goes out through the Hay Point and Dalrymple Bay terminals south of the city. Paget, about 5.6 km south of the CBD, is mostly industrial, and the Resource Industry Network, an association for businesses supplying the resources sector in Mackay, Isaac and the Whitsundays, is based at the Resources Centre of Excellence on Crichtons Road there. It describes Mackay as a hub and support centre for projects across the Bowen and Galilee basins. Mine work brings its own checks: under Queensland's Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme, coal mine workers have a health assessment when they enter the industry and at least every five years after that. Your site can say what your crew hold; the site operator decides what it requires.

Cane still surrounds the city. Mackay Sugar's Farleigh, Racecourse and Marian mills and Wilmar's Plane Creek mill at Sarina crush the district's crop, and the 2026 crush was set to start in early June, with Plane Creek first on 2 June and Mackay Sugar estimating 5.1 million tonnes across its three mills. The weather is the other constant. The wet season runs from December to March. Beyond the 2008 flood, Cyclone Ului left more than 60,000 homes without power in March 2010, and when Debbie came through in 2017, 25,000 residents of low-lying parts of Mackay were told to evacuate and 48-hour rainfall in the Pioneer basin passed 1,000 mm.

Two state programs can bring owners to you with paperwork in hand. The Household Resilience Program, for pre-1984 houses within 50 km of the coast from Bundaberg north, closed to new applications on 2 October 2026, but approved owners still have to engage a QBCC-licensed contractor, and their works have to be finished by 1 August 2027. The Stronger Homes Grant lists Mackay for the tropical low of January and February 2025 and the severe weather from 24 December 2025. It pays for flood-resilience work such as raising switchboards and hot water systems, done by a suitably licensed Queensland contractor, and applications close on 30 November 2026. We build all of this from Adelaide, by phone and email: you tell us how your week divides between homes and sites, send your licence numbers and photos, and check each draft on your phone between jobs.

Trade sites we've built

We haven't built for a Mackay trade yet. Bright Building takes on commercial fit-outs as well as home renovations, and Tomi's Bobcat runs earthmoving across a rural district, so between them they cover the two sides a Mackay site has to show.

Home page of the Bright Building & Renovations website

Bright Building & Renovations

Trades & construction · Adelaide, Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu

Licensed South Australian builder doing renovations, extensions, new homes and commercial fit-outs. Its 30-page site has seven service pages, seven service-area pages and a seven-step quote form, a structure that lets a Mackay trade give household and commercial work pages of their own.

Home page of the Tomi's Bobcat and Excavation website

Tomi's Bobcat and Excavation

Trades & construction · South Pambula & Bega Valley

Bobcat and excavator operators in the Bega Valley doing structural landscaping, licensed pool building and earthworks. One page with three service sections, a 42-photo gallery that swipes on a phone and a contact form, which suits an operator moving between farms, towns and building sites.

“…Salem walked us through everything, gave us a fixed quote so we knew exactly what we were paying, and turned around the build faster than we thought possible.”

Questions from Mackay tradies

Should commercial and mining work go on the same site as household jobs?

Usually yes, on separate pages. One domain is easier to keep current and to hand out, and a clear menu sends a homeowner to the household page and a site manager to the capability page. A second site only makes sense if the commercial side trades under a different name.

Can people download our capability statement from the site?

Yes. Send us the PDF and we'll link it from the commercial page, with the main points also written out on the page so they can be read on a phone without opening a file. When the statement changes, email us the new version and we'll swap it over.

Our customers are spread from Seaforth to Sarina. How should the site show that?

List the areas under headings people recognise, such as the northern beaches, the valley and the Sarina coast, and mention any travel days or minimum charges for the outer towns. On an 8-page site, separate area pages can carry photos of jobs in each place.

Can our site say we do Stronger Homes Grant work?

If you hold the right licence and do the eligible works, yes. Name the jobs, such as raising switchboards or hot water systems, and link to the Queensland Government's grant pages for eligibility. Whether a particular house qualifies is a matter for the owner and the program, so leave that off your site.

Your team is in Adelaide. Do we need to meet in person?

No. WebCraft Studio is an Adelaide (South Australia) web design team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. A phone call, your licence details and a set of job photos are enough to start.

How long will a Mackay trade site take?

Most sites are live within 5–10 days of us getting your words and photos; bigger sites (up to 8 pages) take 2–3 weeks. A commercial page usually waits on the capability details, so gather your licences, insurances and inductions list early.
