Website Design for Accountants in Cairns

Websites for tax agents, BAS agents and accounting practices in Cairns, from the northern beaches to Edmonton and Gordonvale. Restaurant, tour and accommodation owners can see you understand payroll through the busy and quiet months, residents can see you'll check their zone offset, and clients in Port Douglas, Atherton or Innisfail can see how to work with you without the drive.

What a Cairns practice's website should cover

The ABS counted 15,166 businesses in the Cairns council area in June 2025, and 819 of them were in accommodation and food services: more than in Townsville (579) or Toowoomba (539), though both have more residents. A Cairns practice is likely to look after the people who run the visitor economy as well as the households who work in it, and the site should show both.

  • A page for hospitality and tourism employers

Restaurants, cafés, tour and dive operators and accommodation owners ask much the same things: payroll for casual staff, super, BAS, and how to keep cash aside for the months when the visitors thin out. If they make up a good share of your clients, give them a page written in those terms rather than a line under 'business services'.

  • Working holiday makers, named on that page

If clients take on backpackers in the kitchen, on the boat or at harvest, say that you help them register with the ATO as an employer of working holiday makers and set up payroll correctly. It's a question many owners only think about after the first hire, and a clear paragraph brings it to you first.

  • The zone offset on your individual returns page

Cairns sits in Zone B on the ATO's zone list. One sentence saying you check zone tax offset eligibility on every return shows a resident you know the local detail, with a link to the ATO for the rules.

  • Growers up the range

In June 2025 the ABS counted 860 agriculture, forestry and fishing businesses in the Tablelands council area and 627 in Mareeba Shire, close to three in ten of all businesses in each. If farming families are among your clients, a primary producers page belongs on the site.

  • Towns outside the Cairns boundary

Port Douglas and Mossman are in Douglas Shire, Atherton and Malanda in the Tablelands Regional Council, and Innisfail is the seat of the Cassowary Coast council. Name the places you serve and explain how clients there deal with you: by phone, video, portal or a regular visit.

  • Opening hours that suit shift workers

People who work evenings in restaurants or start before dawn on the reef boats can't always call during office hours. Show any late or Saturday appointments in tax season, and put an online booking link or a short form beside your phone number.

Accounting in Cairns: the visitor economy, Zone B and the Far North

The same rules as Brisbane. A Cairns practice registers with the Tax Practitioners Board and deals with the Queensland Revenue Office on payroll tax, land tax and transfer duty, exactly as a Brisbane practice does. Our Brisbane accountants page explains how the TPB's registered tax practitioner symbol should appear. What follows is particular to Cairns and the Far North.

A city that runs on visitors. The ABS business counts for June 2025 put 819 accommodation and food services businesses in the Cairns council area, against 579 in Townsville, a city with roughly 27,000 more residents. Next door in Douglas Shire, 147 of its 1,473 businesses were in the same group. An owner choosing an accountant here wants to know you've seen a business whose takings rise and fall with the season, and that you can talk about rosters, casual pay and quarterly BAS without a lecture. Saying so on a page of its own does more than a long list of services.

Employers of working holiday makers. The ATO says a business must register as an employer of working holiday makers before it makes the first payment to one. A registered employer withholds at the working holiday maker rate; one that hasn't registered has to withhold at a higher rate and can face penalties. If you register clients and set up their payroll for these staff, a short paragraph linking to the ATO's guidance tells a café or tour owner you've handled it before.

Zone B and the Tablelands. On the ATO's Australian zone list, Cairns and Atherton are both in Zone B, so residents whose usual home is there may be entitled to the zone tax offset. Up the range, agriculture is a much bigger share of business than in the city: 860 of the Tablelands council area's 2,930 businesses and 627 of Mareeba Shire's 2,300 in the ABS count. A practice with growers on its books can give them their own page and keep the city clients' pages uncluttered.

The Far North, by phone and email. Since Douglas Shire and Mareeba Shire became separate councils again on 1 January 2014, Port Douglas, Mossman and Mareeba have sat outside the Cairns council area, and people there search by their own town's name. If you have clients in those towns, on the Tablelands or on the Cassowary Coast, spell out which towns you cover, whether you visit, and how papers reach you. We work at a distance too: we're an Adelaide team, and we build for practices outside South Australia by phone and email. You send your services, registration details and photos, we send a draft link, and you pay once you approve it.

Sites that make the first appointment easy

Neither of these is an accounting firm, but each solves something Cairns practices deal with: booking a first appointment without phone tag, and setting out fixed-price work clearly. The review below comes from the accounting firm we built a website for.

Home page of the Dr Tabara Dione Coaching website

Dr Tabara Dione Coaching

Professional services · Melbourne

Confidential coaching for doctors, led by a Melbourne specialist anaesthetist. A link to book a discovery call sits on every page, the approach that suits clients who work restaurant or reef-boat hours and would rather pick a time online than ring during service.

Home page of the Resolve Forward website

Resolve Forward

Professional services · Sydney

A Sydney family law dispute resolution practice with six service pages, priced packages tied to online booking and a five-step intake form. A practice can use similar steps to learn whether a new client is an individual, a sole trader or an employer of seasonal staff before anyone picks up the phone.

“Salem was fantastic to work with on our accounting firm’s website. From day one, he was professional, responsive…”

Questions Cairns accountants ask us

Should our website mention the zone tax offset?

If you check it for clients, yes. Cairns is in Zone B on the ATO's zone list, and a line on your individual returns page saying you work out eligibility answers a question a resident may not think to ask. We'd link to the ATO's pages rather than set out the rules on your site.

Most of our business clients are in hospitality. Is a separate page worth it?

Usually, if they're a large share of your work. A page that talks about casual staff, working holiday makers, cash flow across the season and BAS in plain words gives a restaurant or tour owner a reason to call you rather than the next practice they find.

We have clients in Port Douglas and on the Tablelands. How should the site handle that?

Name the towns, say whether you visit or hold appointments there, and explain how documents reach you, whether that's your portal, email or post. The enquiry form can ask where the client lives, so you know before the first call whether it will be by phone or in person.

Do we need a separate page for Port Douglas clients?

Only if you have an office there, visit on set days or look after a lot of businesses in Douglas Shire. Otherwise a paragraph on your contact page listing the towns you serve is enough, and it can grow into a page later. A new page is quoted before we add it.

Can a Cairns practice work with a team in Adelaide?

Yes. We're an Adelaide (South Australia) web design team working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, and our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. A call about your clients and services, then a draft link you can read between appointments, is all it takes, and you pay once you approve it.
