Website Design for Plumbers in Geelong

For plumbers and gasfitters working Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast. Your licence details where customers can check them, the suburbs you'll actually drive to, and the Barwon Water jobs that come with their own paperwork, from purple-pipe estates to yearly backflow tests.

What a Geelong plumber's website should show

Barwon Water's requirements shape several kinds of plumbing work around Geelong: recycled water in the southern estates, backflow devices on commercial sites, trade waste from food businesses, and septic systems wherever the sewer runs out. Someone facing one of those jobs wants a plumber who already knows the process. Your site is where you tell them.

  • Dual pipe work, said plainly

Homes in Armstrong Creek and parts of Torquay, Mount Duneed and Charlemont take drinking water and Class A recycled water through two separate pipelines. If you've plumbed those houses and worked through Barwon Water's staged inspections, a short section saying so tells a builder or a new owner there that you know the process.

  • A backflow section for business owners

Barwon Water says most industrial and commercial sites, such as hospitals, caravan parks and swimming pools, are rated medium to high risk. Once a site is assessed, the owner has three months to fit a device and then has to have it tested every year. If you hold the backflow prevention class, give that work its own heading and its own enquiry form.

  • Grease arrestors and trade waste

The City of Greater Geelong tells food businesses that discharging trade waste means having a trade waste agreement with Barwon Water. If you fit and service grease arrestors for cafés, takeaways and restaurant kitchens, name that work, and if you help owners with the paperwork, say that too.

  • Septic jobs past the sewer line

On unsewered land, council's permit for an onsite wastewater system has to be granted before installation starts, and before a building permit can be issued. If you install or alter septic and treatment systems, a few lines on the steps help owners plan, and the quote form can ask whether a permit is already in hand.

  • Suburbs under the names people use

Belmont, Highton and Grovedale; Lara and Corio; Leopold, Drysdale and Ocean Grove; Torquay and Jan Juc. Under a heading for each part of the region we list the places you'll take a standard job, plus one line on where your call-outs stop.

  • After-hours calls, if you take them

If you answer the phone at night for burst pipes and overflowing sewers, the top of the page says so with your hours, and the call button stays on every screen of a phone. If you don't, a line saying when you'll ring back stops people waiting by the phone.

  • The licensed plumber, named

Victoria licenses plumbers as individuals, so the footer names the person who holds the licence, with the number and the classes, such as gasfitting, drainage or backflow prevention. A customer who checks the Building and Plumbing Commission's register then finds the same details.

Plumbing around Geelong: Barwon Water, four councils and unsewered land

The Victorian rules, briefly. Geelong plumbers deal with the Building and Plumbing Commission, which replaced the Victorian Building Authority on 1 July 2025. It registers and licenses individual plumbers class by class, and only a licensed plumber can issue a compliance certificate, which is needed when the total value of the work exceeds $750 and for some gas and drainage work whatever it costs. Our Melbourne plumbers page sets those rules out in full, along with the 2027 changes to gas hot water and new home connections, which apply in Geelong exactly as they do in the city.

One water corporation, several councils. Barwon Water runs water and sewerage from Little River and Meredith in the north, across the Bellarine Peninsula and down the coast to Apollo Bay. The councils change along the way: the City of Greater Geelong, the Borough of Queenscliffe, Surf Coast Shire, Golden Plains Shire to the north-west and Colac Otway Shire around Colac and Apollo Bay. People search by suburb or town rather than by council, so that's how your areas are listed.

Purple pipe in the southern estates. Barwon Water supplies Class A recycled water through a dedicated purple-pipe network to homes and businesses in Armstrong Creek and parts of Torquay, Mount Duneed and Charlemont. Each property there has two pipelines, two meters and two sets of taps, with the recycled taps coloured purple. The recycled side is approved for toilet flushing, garden watering and washing cars and paths, but not for drinking, bathing, kitchens, pools or spas. Barwon Water says recycled water plumbing must be inspected by its authorised representative at three key stages, and again if changes are needed after people move in. That's specialised work, and worth naming on your site if you do it.

Backflow and trade waste. Barwon Water asks property owners to have an accredited backflow prevention plumber assess the property's hazard rating. Where it's rated medium to high risk, the owner has three months from the assessment to install backflow prevention devices, must register the property and the devices with Barwon Water, and agrees to have them tested and maintained each year with the results reported to Barwon Water. Owners are told to organise suitably qualified plumbers for all of it. On the sewer side, Barwon Water's trade waste policy says occupiers of commercial and industrial premises must enter a Trade Waste Agreement or obtain a Trade Waste Permit before discharging trade waste to its sewers. Both bring repeat work from the same customers, and both are easy to miss on a plumber's site that only lists domestic services.

Where the sewer stops. On unsewered land, the City of Greater Geelong issues a Permit to Alter/Install an onsite wastewater management system, which council says may take four to six weeks, and an Approval to Use once a final inspection shows the system complies, usually within two weeks of that inspection. Using a system before then can bring an infringement notice. Council suggests checking with Barwon Water first whether a property is sewered, and pump-to-sewer is an option to raise with Barwon Water too. Trade and service sites we've built

We haven't built a site for a Geelong plumber yet. Our plumbing and gas client is in Queensland, and Phoenix Housekeeping, near Newcastle, shows how we set out a service area that spans several councils and a stretch of coast.

Questions from Geelong plumbers

Can an Adelaide team build a website for a Geelong plumber?

Yes. WebCraft Studio is based in Adelaide and works with businesses around Australia by phone and email, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. You send your services, licence details, suburbs and photos; we build a draft you can open on your phone; you ask for changes until it's right, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Should our site mention Barwon Water's dual pipe inspections?

If you do that work, yes, in a sentence or two. Say that you plumb homes with a Class A recycled water supply in Armstrong Creek, Torquay, Mount Duneed or Charlemont, and that you're familiar with Barwon Water's staged inspections. Leave the technical requirements to Barwon Water's own guidance for plumbers, and link to it if you like.

Can business owners book a backflow test through the site?

Yes. We can build online booking into the site and quote it with the rest of the job. A short request form is often enough: business name, site address, where the device is and when it was last tested, with room to attach any notice the owner has received. It comes to you by email, and you ring back to set a time.

Do we need separate pages for the Bellarine and the Surf Coast?

Not usually. A one-page site can list the suburbs and towns under a heading for each area. Area pages earn their place on an 8-page site when the work is different from one area to the next, for example septic and tank work on rural blocks in one and maintenance contracts in town in another.

Should we explain the septic permit steps?

A short summary helps owners plan. Council's permit to install comes before the building permit, approval can take four to six weeks, and the system can't be used until council issues an Approval to Use after the final inspection. Send us the wording you're comfortable with and we'll set it out. If council changes its process, updating text on an existing page is covered by the $30 monthly hosting.
