Website Design for Electricians in Geelong

For sparkies working Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast: a solar page that knows which heritage roofs need a permit, a section for holiday-house owners who live elsewhere, and your REC number where a careful customer will look for it.

What a Geelong electrician's website should cover

Around Geelong the same business can be wiring a slab-fresh house in Armstrong Creek on Monday, quoting panels for a Victorian terrace in a heritage street on Tuesday and replacing smoke alarms at an empty beach house in St Leonards by Friday. The site should show each of those customers that you've thought about their kind of job.

  • Solar quotes that check the heritage map first

In the City of Greater Geelong, solar attached to a building in the Heritage Overlay needs a planning permit where the overlay's solar controls apply to that heritage place and the panels can be seen from a street (other than a lane) or a public park. A line on your solar page saying you check the overlay before you quote, and plan around it, saves an owner finding out after the panels are ordered.

  • Pre-approval explained in one paragraph

On Powercor's network, the installer confirms the customer has a pre-approval outcome before anything goes on the roof, then lodges the alteration through eConnect with the Certificate of Electrical Safety. Customers rarely know that step exists. Saying you handle it, and roughly how long it adds, answers the question before they ask why the job hasn't started.

  • A section for owners who aren't there

Plenty of houses on the Bellarine and the Surf Coast belong to people who live somewhere else. Tell them how you get in (key safe, neighbour or letting agent), that you send photos of the finished work, and that the certificate and invoice arrive by email.

  • New-home work named by estate

Homes given planning permits since 1 January 2024 connect to all-electric networks only, so estate stages permitted under that rule, in Armstrong Creek and later in the northern and western growth areas, go in without gas. Heat pump hot water circuits, induction cooktops, reverse-cycle units and EV charger wiring are worth listing one by one, with a captioned photo from an estate you've worked in.

  • Rental checks for local agencies

Since 13 October 2026 every Victorian rental needs an electrical safety check every two years. If you want agency work in Belmont, Newtown or Ocean Grove, a short section saying what your check covers and how an agent sends through an address is enough.

  • REC details matching the register

Energy Safe Victoria requires an REC's registration number on all promotional material, so it belongs on your website too. We put it in the footer of every page, beside the quote button, and spelt exactly as the public register spells your business name.

Electrical work around Geelong: heritage roofs, holiday houses and new estates

The Victorian side, in short. Energy Safe Victoria registers electrical contractors, installation work is recorded on a Certificate of Electrical Safety, and prescribed work such as a main switchboard or a solar system is inspected by a Licensed Electrical Inspector before it's switched on. Our Melbourne electricians page sets those rules out, along with the rental checks and the 2027 gas changes, all of which apply in Geelong unchanged. The poles and wires here are Powercor's, part of the CitiPower and Powercor network that runs from Melbourne's CBD to the South Australian border.

Solar on heritage houses. Under the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme, a solar energy system attached to a building in the Heritage Overlay needs a permit if solar controls apply to that heritage place and the system is visible from a street (other than a lane) or a public park. The council's heritage information sheet on solar says front roof faces should be avoided where possible, even though a north-facing front roof generates best; side roofs may be acceptable if the panels are set back and sit within the ridgelines; and rear garages, sheds or freestanding panels in the back yard are alternatives. Its Greening Geelong's Heritage leaflet, prepared for the Geelong & Region Branch of the National Trust, adds that east or west roof faces can also work, with far less effect on the front of the building. The Borough of Queenscliffe is a separate council with 142 heritage places of its own. An installer who mentions any of this on the site sounds like someone who has done the job in those streets.

What Powercor asks of installers. Powercor's installer guidance says to check the customer's pre-approval outcome first and, if one is required, upload the signed generator agreement to eConnect before installation. Afterwards the alteration goes in through eConnect with the Certificate of Electrical Safety, evidence that the inverter is set to Region A under AS4777.2:2020, and serial numbers matching the devices. Systems up to 200 kVA must be emergency backstop enabled, able to communicate using the CSIP-AUS protocol and connected to the internet. Customers don't need the detail, but a sentence telling them the inverter has to stay online saves a call later.

Houses that are empty most of the year. The City of Greater Geelong's 2023 estimate of the Barwon region's peak overnight population, for a busy weekend such as New Year, puts 46,020 people in holiday homes on the Bellarine Peninsula alongside 60,450 permanent residents, and 36,060 in holiday homes across Surf Coast Shire against 42,260 who live there. Many of those owners organise trades from a distance. A page or section written for them, covering access, photos, certificates and how you invoice, is a plain way to ask for that work.

Growth to the south and north. Council describes Armstrong Creek as the largest contiguous growth area in Victoria, about 2,500 hectares planned for some 22,000 homes, and expects more than 110,000 new residents across the Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas, starting with the Creamery Road and Elcho Road East precincts. Every one of those houses needs a connection, a switchboard and the circuits an all-electric home runs on. We're an Adelaide team and work with Geelong businesses by phone and email: you send your REC details, services and job photos, we send a draft you can check on your phone, and you pay once you approve it.

Sites we've built that fit this kind of work

We haven't built a site for an electrician yet, and none of our clients are in Geelong. The nearest matches are a NSW cleaning business whose customers include holiday-let owners, and an Adelaide builder whose service-area pages are the pattern we'd use for the city, the Bellarine and the coast.

Home page of the Phoenix Housekeeping website

Phoenix Housekeeping

Home & care services · Lake Macquarie, Cessnock & Central Coast

A family-run cleaning business around Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and the Central Coast, doing Airbnb turnovers and linen as well as housekeeping and end-of-lease cleans. Its site has published pricing, a page for each service, suburb pages across its area, a quote form with a discreet call-back option and tap-to-call: the same set-up absent owners on the Bellarine would look for.

Home page of the Bright Building & Renovations website

Bright Building & Renovations

Trades & construction · Adelaide, Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu

A licensed South Australian builder with 30 pages: seven service pages, seven service-area pages, five planning guides, a project gallery and a seven-step quote form. Separate area pages like these suit an electrical contractor who wants the coast and the growth areas described differently.

“He listened to my feedback and made no hesitations to revise and adjust my website until we were completely happy with it.”

Questions from Geelong electricians

Should our solar page mention heritage permits?

If you install in older parts of Geelong, yes, briefly. Under the Greater Geelong Planning Scheme, solar attached to a building in the Heritage Overlay needs a permit where solar controls apply to the heritage place and the panels are visible from a street (other than a lane) or a public park, and council's information sheet steers panels away from front roofs. Say that you check the overlay before quoting and suggest other positions where needed. Leave the permit decision to council and link to its heritage page.

Is it worth explaining Powercor's pre-approval on the site?

One short paragraph helps. Many customers don't know their system needs a pre-approval outcome first, or that the inverter must stay connected to the internet for the emergency backstop. Explaining that you lodge the paperwork and what the customer needs to do keeps the job moving.

How do we get work from holiday-house owners who live elsewhere?

Give them a section of their own. Council's peak-weekend estimate puts more than 46,000 people in Bellarine holiday homes, so a lot of owners are organising jobs from somewhere else. Say how you get access, whether you'll coordinate with their letting agent, that you send photos when you finish, and that the certificate and invoice come by email. Our quote form can ask for the property address and the owner's own address separately.

Do we need separate pages for the Bellarine and the Surf Coast?

Not to start with. A single page can list your towns under headings for the city, the Bellarine and the coast. Separate area pages make sense on a bigger site when the work differs, for example new-home fit-offs in Armstrong Creek and beach-house maintenance in Anglesea.

Can an Adelaide team build a website for a Geelong electrician?

Yes. WebCraft Studio is an Adelaide team working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, and our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. We don't visit jobs or meet in person. You send your REC details, services, areas and photos; we build the draft; you ask for as many changes as you like and pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Ready to start your Geelong electrical website?

Send us your REC number, the towns you cover and a handful of job photos, solar installs included if you do them. You'll get a quote first, and nothing is payable until you've approved the draft.
