Website Design for Tradies in Geelong

Websites for builders, plumbers, sparkies and other trades working Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast. Your Victorian registration number on every page, service areas set out the way locals describe the region, and a phone number that rings with one tap.

What a Geelong tradie's website should cover

Customers around Geelong want to know the usual things before they ring: whether you come to their area, whether you're registered, and how quickly they can reach you. What makes this region different is how far "Geelong" stretches, how many coastal houses belong to people who live somewhere else, and how much new housing is going up south and north of the city.

  • Areas grouped the way locals say them

We set your areas out under the names people actually use for them: the Geelong suburbs, the Bellarine, the Surf Coast, Lara and the north, and out towards Bannockburn. A customer finds their patch in seconds, and if Anglesea is as far down the coast as you go, the page says so, and someone in Lorne knows before they ring.

  • A line for holiday-house owners

If you take jobs at beach houses whose owners live in Melbourne or further away, say how you handle it: access through a key safe or the letting agent, photos sent when the job is finished, quotes and invoices by email. Those are the questions an absent owner has before picking up the phone, and a few lines on your site answer them in advance.

  • The new estates, named

Someone who has just moved into Armstrong Creek, Charlemont or Mount Duneed searches for trades by suburb. If fencing, landscaping, driveways, blinds, extra power points or split systems for new houses make up much of your work, list those suburbs and show a job or two from them, captioned with the street-level detail you're comfortable sharing.

  • Your registration where people check it

Your Building and Plumbing Commission number or your Energy Safe Victoria REC number goes in the footer of every page and again beside the quote form, written exactly as the public register shows it, so a careful customer can match the two.

  • Recycled water work, if you do it

Barwon Water has dual pipe areas, where a home takes drinking water and Class A recycled water through two separate supplies, each with its own meter, and the recycled connection has to pass a mandatory inspection. If you know that system, give it a line of its own. A new owner with a fault on the recycled side, or a builder needing the connection done, is looking for exactly that experience.

  • A quote form that takes a photo

Ask for the suburb, a phone number, a line about the job and one photo. A homeowner in Belmont can snap the cracked downpipe from the backyard, and a Melbourne-based owner can forward the picture their property manager sent. Both arrive in your inbox ready to quote.

What's particular about working around Geelong

The state rules, in brief. Geelong trades deal with the same regulators as Melbourne ones. Builders and plumbers are registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission, which took over from the Victorian Building Authority on 1 July 2025, and electrical contractors hold a REC from Energy Safe Victoria. Our Melbourne tradies page covers the advertising side, including the Building Act's requirement that a registered building practitioner's ads for domestic building work show the registered name and number. On your website, that number belongs on every page.

Four councils behind one search. A person typing "Geelong plumber" could live in any of four council areas. The City of Greater Geelong takes in the city's suburbs and most of the Bellarine Peninsula. The Borough of Queenscliffe, the smallest council in Victoria, covers Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. Surf Coast Shire runs from Torquay and Jan Juc through Anglesea and Aireys Inlet to Lorne, with Winchelsea inland, and Golden Plains Shire to the north-west includes Bannockburn, Teesdale and Meredith. Water and sewerage across the region come from Barwon Water, whose area stretches from Little River and Meredith in the north to the Bellarine Peninsula and down the coast to Apollo Bay, and the poles and wires are Powercor's. When we lay out your service areas, we follow those real groupings rather than one long run of suburb names.

Where the new houses are going. The City of Greater Geelong describes itself as regional Victoria's fastest-growing area. Armstrong Creek, south of the city, is planned for about 22,000 homes and 55,000 to 65,000 people, and the council calls it the largest contiguous growth area in Victoria. North and west of the city, the Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas are planned for around 40,000 new homes and about 110,000 new residents, in precincts such as Creamery Road, Elcho Road and Batesford North that are at different stages of planning. Barwon Water also has "dual pipe" areas, where homes have separate meters for drinking water and Class A recycled water, and a recycled water connection has to pass a mandatory inspection first.

Holiday houses along the coast. The City of Greater Geelong's 2023 estimate of peak overnight population across the Barwon region, for a busy weekend such as New Year, counts more people staying in holiday homes than permanent residents in Anglesea, Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Portarlington, St Leonards, Indented Head, Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. Plenty of those owners hire trades without being there to meet them. Parts of Surf Coast Shire also sit under the Bushfire Management Overlay, and homes in bushfire-prone areas are rated by Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) under AS 3959-2018, so if you build, re-roof or replace windows to a BAL rating, name the ratings you've worked to.

How we work with Geelong businesses. We're an Adelaide team, and everything with clients outside Adelaide happens by phone and email. You send your services, areas, registration number and photos; we build a draft you can open on your phone; you ask for changes until it's right and pay once you approve it.

Trade websites we've built

We haven't built for a Geelong trade yet, so here are the two closest examples: an Adelaide painting company whose site is organised by region, with a postcode search, and a Queensland plumber and gas fitter. Our current Victorian client is a Melbourne coaching practice, which is in our portfolio.

Questions Geelong tradies ask us

You're in Adelaide. How does that work for a Geelong trade business?

We're a web design team in Adelaide, South Australia, working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email; our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. We don't come out to meet you or visit jobs. You send the details and photos, we send a link to the draft, and you pay only once you've approved it. We reply within 24 hours.

Should our site say we work on holiday houses?

If you do, yes. The City of Greater Geelong's estimate for a peak weekend puts more people in holiday homes than permanent residents in towns such as Anglesea, Lorne and Point Lonsdale, and those are houses whose owners usually live somewhere else. A short section explaining how you get access, how you report back with photos and how you invoice answers their questions before they have to ask.

Is it worth naming Armstrong Creek or the northern growth areas?

If new houses are a big part of your work, it is. Armstrong Creek is planned for about 22,000 homes, and the Northern and Western Geelong Growth Areas for about 110,000 new residents over time. New owners search by suburb, so naming Armstrong Creek, Charlemont or Mount Duneed, with a captioned photo from one of those jobs, does more than writing Geelong and surrounds.

Which number should a Geelong tradie show on the website?

The same as anywhere in Victoria: your Building and Plumbing Commission registration or licence number if you're a builder or plumber, and your REC number if you're an electrical contractor. For building practitioners, the Building Act requires the registered name and number in advertising for domestic building work. We copy both exactly as they appear on the public register. Our Melbourne tradies page explains the rules in more detail.

We cover the Bellarine but only go to the Surf Coast for bigger jobs. Can the site show that?

Yes. We list your everyday areas first, then add one plain line about the bigger jobs you'll travel for and roughly how far. If your areas change later, updating that text on an existing page is covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

Ready for a website that covers your part of the Geelong region?

Send us your trade, your registration number and the areas you cover, from the suburbs to the coast, along with a few job photos. We'll quote, build the draft and make your changes, and you pay once you approve it.
