The WA rules apply here exactly as in Perth. Paid painting work worth one thousand dollars or more needs a registered painting contractor; a registered painter's number has to appear in advertising, websites included; and residential jobs from $7,500 to $500,000 come under the Home Building Contracts Act, with its written contract and 6.5 per cent deposit limit. The Building Services Board's area for painting is built on the South West Land Division, which takes in the whole Peel region, so Mandurah and every Peel shire sit inside it. Our Perth painters page sets those rules out in more detail.
What's local is the enforcement. In August 2026 Building and Energy published two prosecutions heard in Mandurah Magistrates Court. In one, a painter who wasn't registered, and who had advertised on social media, quoted about sixteen thousand dollars in March 2025 to paint the outside of a house in Singleton, took a 50 per cent deposit and never did the work; he was fined $4,500 for three offences. In the other, a man who had never held registration was fined over a 2025 job in Waroona worth about nine and a half thousand dollars, after the department had already sent him a notice explaining the rules. Both releases finished with the Building Commissioner urging homeowners to check a painter's registration before hiring for work above the threshold; the Waroona release also pointed them to the ServiceWA app.
For your website, that means trust should be visible rather than assumed. A registration number in the footer, a link to the licence search beside it, a mention of written quotes, and a payment line that sits within the deposit limit answer the exact questions those two cases raise. We don't write compliance advice of our own into your site; we lay out the details you give us and link to Building and Energy's pages.
Mandurah's canals were dug in stages from the late 1960s, starting at South Yunderup on the Peel Inlet in the Shire of Murray, then off the estuary at Mandurah, Halls Head and Dudley Park, and at Wannanup on the Dawesville Channel. The Peel region is five local governments: the City of Mandurah and the shires of Murray, Waroona, Boddington and Serpentine-Jarrahdale. North of the city, Singleton, Golden Bay, Secret Harbour and Baldivis belong to the City of Rockingham and the Perth metropolitan area. A service-area section grouped under those councils is easier to scan than one long list of suburbs.
We're an Adelaide team and work with Peel businesses by phone and email. Adelaide clocks are an hour and a half ahead of Mandurah's, two and a half during South Australian daylight saving, which still leaves most of a working day in common. We haven't built for a WA business yet, so the sites below are from other states.
