Website Design for Accountants in Melbourne

Websites for Melbourne accounting practices, tax agents and BAS agents. Your TPB registration and memberships sit where a prospective client looks for them, each service is described in plain English, and the buttons open the client portal and booking tool you already use.

What a Melbourne accounting site needs to show

People choosing a new accountant usually compare a handful of firms before they pick up the phone. On each site they're checking three things: that you're registered, that you already look after people like them, and that taking the first step won't be awkward or costly.

  • The TPB symbol, with its number

If you use the Tax Practitioners Board's registered tax practitioner symbol, it has to show your registration number and registration type. We put it in the footer of every page and on the about page, no smaller than the TPB's minimum size for screens, and link to the TPB Register so a client can check the number.

  • Clients described the way they describe themselves

Sole traders on an ABN, specialists in private practice, people with two or three rental properties, café and restaurant owners, SMSF trustees. A reader spots themselves in "hospitality businesses across the inner north" far faster than in "businesses of every size".

  • Victorian state taxes as a service of their own

Land tax, payroll tax and duties are administered by Victoria's State Revenue Office, and they're questions property investors and growing employers bring to an accountant. If you handle SRO assessments, objections or payroll tax registration, give that work its own heading instead of folding it into "tax returns".

  • Buttons for the portal and booking tool you already use

We don't build client portals or booking systems, but every page can carry clear buttons that open your existing portal, document upload service or online calendar. Returning clients find the login in one tap, and new ones find the link to book a first meeting.

  • A paragraph on how you charge

Some practices publish a starting price for an individual return or a monthly bookkeeping fee; others explain that they agree a fixed fee after a first look at the books. Either way, saying how pricing works answers the question many people are reluctant to ask on the phone.

  • Who they'll meet, and where

Names and photos of the accountants a client will deal with, any languages your team speaks, and whether first meetings happen at your office, at the client's business or by video. If your office is in Box Hill and the client lives in Werribee, that last point matters.

Accounting in Melbourne: registration, state taxes and local search

Registration is national. The TPB says the Tax Agent Services Act 2009 carries civil penalties for providing tax agent services for a fee or reward, advertising them, or representing yourself as a registered tax agent while unregistered, and the same applies to BAS services. The visible sign of registration is the TPB's registered tax practitioner symbol: registered agents who accept its terms of use can use it in advertising, it must appear with the agent's registration number and type, and anyone can check that number on the TPB Register.

Membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants ANZ or the Institute of Public Accountants is a separate matter from TPB registration, and it's worth showing too. We use the designation wording and logo files your professional body supplies, along with any software partner badge such as Xero or MYOB, rather than redrawing them, and we leave anything uncertain for you to confirm with the organisation concerned.

Victoria adds its own layer through the State Revenue Office. Under the state's COVID Debt Repayment Plan, land tax changed from the 2024 land tax year: flat charges now apply to smaller landholdings that used to sit under the general threshold, and the changes are legislated to run until 30 June 2033. That means owners of a single investment property who never had a land tax bill can now receive an assessment. The payroll tax-free threshold, meanwhile, went up in 2024-25 and again from 1 July 2025. If you help clients with either, a page that names land tax and payroll tax in plain words gives people with those questions somewhere to start. We'd leave the figures themselves to the SRO's site, because they change.

Metropolitan Melbourne spans 31 councils, so a search for an accountant in "Melbourne" is a broad one. A practice in Glen Waverley sits in the City of Monash and one in Werribee in the City of Wyndham, and each does better naming its own suburb and the neighbouring ones its clients come from than claiming the whole city. Say clearly, too, whether you work with clients right across Victoria by phone and video.

We're based on Hutt St in Adelaide and work with Victorian practices by phone and email. Our Melbourne client is a professional services business with booking linked from every page, and we've built a website for an accounting firm whose review appears below.

Accounting and professional services websites

We've built a website for an accounting firm, and the firm's review is below. The two sites shown are professional services clients with features accountants often ask about: Dr Tabara Dione Coaching, our Melbourne client, has booking linked from every page, and Simple Engineers in Adelaide quotes with fee ranges and file uploads.

Home page of the Dr Tabara Dione Coaching website

Simple Engineers

Professional services · Adelaide

Adelaide structural engineers designing retaining walls, slabs and stormwater. The quote form shows an estimated fee range and accepts up to five photos, plans or documents, the same pattern an accounting practice can use for a first enquiry. Four service pages and 16 articles sit alongside it.

Questions Melbourne accountants ask us

Where does our TPB registration go on the site?

We put the registered tax practitioner symbol, with your registration number and registration type, in the footer of every page and again on the about page, no smaller than the TPB's minimum for screens. You agree to the TPB's terms of use and request your symbol through its online services, then send us the files it gives you. For anything beyond that, the TPB's symbol guidelines are the reference.

Can we have a page about land tax and other Victorian state taxes?

Yes, if it's work you take on. A page or section on SRO matters, such as land tax assessments and objections or payroll tax registration, tells people with those questions that you handle them. You supply the wording and we set it out clearly. We'd suggest keeping thresholds and rates off the page unless you're happy to update them each year.

Can a prospective client send documents from the website?

An enquiry form can take attachments, as Simple Engineers' quote form does, which suits someone sending a recent assessment notice or a letter from the SRO. For ongoing work and anything sensitive, your existing client portal is the better place, and every page can link to it.

Should a Melbourne practice list the suburbs it serves?

Name your office suburb and the areas your clients mostly come from, then say plainly whether you also work with clients elsewhere by phone and video. Someone in Point Cook looking at a practice in Hawthorn wants to know whether meetings mean crossing the city.

Who changes our hours and notices during tax time?

We do, whenever you ask. New opening hours, a lodgement reminder or a notice that the office closes over Christmas are text changes on existing pages, covered by the $30 monthly hosting. A new page, such as one for a service line you're adding, is quoted first.

Do you work with Melbourne accountants from Adelaide?

Yes. We're a web design team on Hutt St in Adelaide working with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email, and our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, including a professional services client in Melbourne. You send your services, registrations and team photos, we build a draft, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Ready to talk about your Melbourne practice's website?

Tell us who your clients are, the services you want people to find and the portal or booking tool you use now. You'll get a quote first, and the draft is built before any payment.
