Website Design for Mechanics in Adelaide

Websites for Adelaide workshops and mobile mechanics, built by a team on Hutt St. Service requests that ask for the rego and the odometer reading, logbook and fleet account pages, your RAA approval or MTA membership where South Australian drivers look for it, and pages for the jobs SA's own rules create: defect notices, pre-purchase checks and end-of-warranty inspections.

What Adelaide drivers want from a workshop site

There's no general repairer licence in South Australia, so the signs an Adelaide driver can check are an RAA or MTA badge, a site that lets them book without ringing, and a page that answers the question that sent them searching. Plenty of those questions come from SA's own rules, such as a defect label stuck on the car, a dealer warranty about to end, or a private sale where the seller owes them nothing.

  • Service requests that arrive ready to book

Ask for what you'd otherwise ring back for: rego, make and model, the odometer reading, which logbook interval is due, the problem in the driver's own words, a preferred drop-off day and whether they need a lift. With the kilometres and the interval in hand you can order filters and plugs before the car turns up. If your workshop software has an online booking page, the button can open that. We can also build booking with online payment into the site, quoted with the rest of the job.

  • Logbook work named by make, Holdens included

Holden built cars at Elizabeth until 20 October 2017, when the last Australian-made Commodore left the line, and in February 2020 GM announced it would retire the Holden brand by 2021. Those Commodores, Utes and Statesmans still need servicing, and an owner hunting for someone who knows them won't find you behind a line that says all makes. List the makes and models you know best, say whether you stamp a paper logbook or update a digital one, and say which parts you fit.

  • A fleet page with its own form

A plumber with six utes or a courier firm with a row of vans doesn't book like a private driver. Give fleet managers a page explaining how an account with you works: how they send a list of regos, who can approve work above an agreed limit, whether invoices carry their purchase order numbers, how often statements go out, and whether you'll collect from their yard. The enquiry form asks for the company, the number and type of vehicles and a contact for approvals.

  • Pre-purchase and end-of-warranty checks

South Australian rules give buyers two moments to call a mechanic. A private seller has no duty to repair, and the Legal Services Commission's Law Handbook calls a mechanical check before buying essential. A car bought from a licensed dealer for over $3,000 generally comes with a duty to repair for two or three months, depending on the price, so a check before that runs out lets the owner take faults back while the dealer still has to fix them. Give each inspection its own heading, with what you look at, how long it takes and how the report is sent.

  • Defect notice repairs, step by step

In SA, police or an inspector can issue a major or minor defect notice. It lists the faults and the repairs needed and says how the car may be moved to get them done, and the car can't be driven, left on the road or sold outside those terms until it's been examined and cleared. Let drivers type in the listed faults or add a picture of the notice, say whether they can drive in or need a tow, and explain where your part ends: you fix the faults, and the clearance certificate is issued by police, an inspector or the registration authority, not by the workshop.

  • Hybrids and EVs, with credentials to match

MTA SA/NT runs an EV Ready program for member workshops that meet its technician and workshop prerequisites and follow AS 5732:2022, the Australian Standard for electric vehicle maintenance and repair, and it supplies signage and digital branding so the accreditation can be shown online. If you hold it, put it at the top of your hybrid and EV page. It also gives you a reason to include a battery check in end-of-warranty inspections: since 1 September 2025 a dealer's duty to repair has covered the main propulsion battery of prescribed hybrid and electric vehicles.

  • Air-con and cooling before the hot spells

Adelaide's West Terrace weather station averages 17 days a year at 35°C or more, and it reached 46.6°C on 24 January 2019. Air-con regas, cooling system checks and battery tests deserve a section of their own, published in spring rather than after the first heatwave. Anyone handling refrigerant needs a licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council, which issues an automotive air conditioning licence for car work, and its Look for the Tick site lets anyone check a technician's licence. Put your licence details beside that section.

South Australian rules and Adelaide conditions for workshops

No repairer licence, so memberships do the work. NSW and WA license repair businesses; South Australia has no general repairer licence, although particular work, such as car air-con, needs its own licence. That leaves two names Adelaide customers look for. The Motor Trade Association of SA/NT, based at Royal Park, has more than 1,200 members who sign up to its Customer Promise, a code of conduct, and its website lets drivers find a member by postcode. RAA says it has over 400 Approved Repairers across the state, audits them regularly, holds them to its Code of Practice, approves each one for its area of specialty and can step in as a mediator when a customer isn't satisfied. If you hold either, use the same wording as the sign at your door, and list the specialties RAA approved you for so the site matches its repairer locator.

Dealer warranties and private sales. Under the Second-hand Vehicle Dealers Act 1995, a licensed dealer must fix defects that make a car unroadworthy at delivery, whatever it cost. Beyond that, for cars first registered less than 15 years before the sale and with under 200,000 km, the duty to repair lasts 2 months or 3,000 km on cars costing $3,001 to $6,000, and 3 months or 5,000 km above $6,000, and days the car spends back at the dealer for repairs don't count. A private seller owes the buyer none of this, and a private sale has no cooling-off period. Those are the moments a buyer goes looking for an independent inspection, which is why pre-purchase and end-of-warranty pages earn their place. If you sell a few cars yourself, the Act presumes you're in the business once you buy or sell four or more in 12 months, and that needs a dealer's licence.

Defect notices and interstate plates. Defect notices come from section 145 of the Road Traffic Act 1961. A major notice is for a fault that makes further driving an imminent and serious safety risk; anything less gets a minor one, and a copy of either goes to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. Driving or selling a defected car against the notice can cost 3 demerit points as well as a fine, so drivers ring wanting to know how soon you can look at it. Cars still on NSW or NT registration are a separate case: RAA says it's the only organisation in SA that can carry out the compulsory roadworthy check for those states' re-registration. Your site can offer a pre-check and the repairs, and send people to RAA for the check itself.

Getting to you while South Road is rebuilt. The River Torrens to Darlington project is the last 10.5 km of the North-South Corridor: about 4.5 km of tunnels from Darlington to just south of Anzac Highway at Glandore, an open motorway past Richmond Road and James Congdon Drive, and about 2.2 km of tunnels north to the existing motorway south of Grange Road. The project team counts more than 1,000 businesses near the works and says it keeps access open for customers, vehicles and deliveries, but the work zones move along the corridor as construction goes on, with completion due by 2031. A workshop anywhere from Torrensville and Mile End South down to Clovelly Park and St Marys needs a getting-here note that stays current: the side street to turn from, the driveway, parking, and a recent photo of the frontage.

Working with us. We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St. The examples below are other Adelaide businesses whose forms do the jobs a workshop's would. Most projects, Adelaide ones included, run by phone and email, so you can answer our questions between cars; if you'd rather meet before we start, that can be arranged.

Two Adelaide sites whose forms sort enquiries

We haven't built a site for a mechanic yet. These two Adelaide clients use the form ideas a workshop gets the most from: a price guide with file uploads, and a second path for business customers.

Home page of the Simple Engineers website

Simple Engineers

Professional services · Adelaide

Structural engineers in Adelaide. Pick a service on their quote form and it shows a likely fee range, and customers can attach files. A workshop can show the starting price for a pre-purchase or end-of-warranty inspection the same way, and let drivers attach a picture of a defect notice or a dashboard warning light.

Home page of the Golden Years Aged Care Support website

Golden Years Aged Care Support

Home & care services · Northern Adelaide

In-home support for older people across Northern Adelaide. Its enquiry form has a separate option for aged care providers making referrals. On a workshop site that second path suits fleet managers, who need to give a company name, how many vehicles they run and who signs off work, rather than a single rego.

“Rebuilt two websites for our businesses and saved us a fortune on hosting etc. Nothing is ever a problem, will email back on a Saturday night if need be.”

What Adelaide mechanics ask us

Is there a licence number an SA mechanic should show on the website?

South Australia has no general licence for repair workshops, so often there isn't one. What you can show is any licence your particular work needs, such as the Australian Refrigeration Council licence for car air-con, alongside memberships customers recognise: RAA Approved Repairer, MTA SA/NT member, MTA EV Ready. If you also buy and sell cars, the Second-hand Vehicle Dealers Act 1995 may require a dealer's licence; the Legal Services Commission's Law Handbook explains when the Act presumes you're in the business. We copy your details exactly as you send them.

A customer's car is on NSW plates. Can our site offer the rego inspection?

Not the compulsory NSW or NT roadworthy check for re-registration: RAA says it's the only organisation in South Australia that can do those, at its West Croydon workshop or at approved inspection centres in regional SA. What your site can offer is the work either side of it, a look over the car beforehand and repairs to anything it fails on. Saying that plainly saves a phone call for both of you.

Is an end-of-warranty inspection page worth adding?

If people who bought from dealers are a regular part of your work, yes. SA's dealer duty to repair runs for 2 months or 3,000 km on cars costing $3,001 to $6,000 and 3 months or 5,000 km above that, for most cars under 15 years old and 200,000 km. An inspection a few weeks before it ends gives the owner time to take faults back to the dealer. The page should explain that timing, what you check and how the written report reaches them.

Our workshop is on South Road near the T2D works. What should the site say?

Put a short getting-here section near the top: which side road to turn from, where the driveway and customer parking are, and a photo of the frontage as it looks now. The T2D project says it keeps access to businesses open during construction, but the works move along the corridor until completion, due by 2031, so the note needs updating as they do. Text and photo changes on existing pages are covered by the $30 monthly hosting; email us and we'll make them.

Can customers book a logbook service online?

Yes. The simplest version is a request form taking the rego, make and model, odometer reading, the service that's due and a preferred day, which you confirm by phone or text. If your workshop software has its own online booking page, the button can open that instead. We can also build a booking calendar with online payment into the site, priced as part of your quote.

Can we meet you before we start?

Yes. We're at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, Adelaide SA 5000, and a meeting can be arranged. Most projects, Adelaide ones included, run by phone and email: you send your services, the makes you work on, your memberships and phone photos of the workshop, we send a draft link, you ask for changes until it's right, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Tell us about your workshop

Send your suburb, the makes you service, any RAA, MTA or air-con licence details and what you'd like drivers to book online. We'll come back with a quote and then a draft link, and nothing is paid until you've approved the site.

We reply within 24 hours. Prefer email? info@webcraftstudio.com.au
