Website Design for Hair Salons on the Gold Coast

For salons in Southport, Broadbeach, Burleigh or Coolangatta, inside Pacific Fair, or in a home studio in the northern estates: a site that shows your prices and your stylists, takes enquiries for weddings on either side of the border and for race day, and sends locals and visitors alike to the booking system you already use. Nothing to pay until you've approved the draft.

What a Gold Coast salon website needs to cover

A Gold Coast salon books two kinds of client from the same page: locals who come back on a regular cycle, and people in town for a wedding, a race day or a holiday who need someone this week. The first group wants a stylist they can stick with; the second wants to know quickly what you do, what it costs and whether there's a time free before they leave.

  • Tram stops on the contact page, including the new Burleigh line

Since August 2026 the G:link has run south past Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, with new stations at Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami and Burleigh among others. A salon along that stretch of the Gold Coast Highway can name its station and the walk in minutes. Inside Pacific Fair, give the entrance and the level as well as the Broadbeach South stop. Visitors without a car read those lines first.

  • A wedding page that works on both sides of the border

If you style weddings in the hinterland, at beachfront hotels or at venues across the Tweed, a wedding page sets out what a trial includes, the earliest start you'll take, the area you travel to and how travel is charged. Its enquiry form asks for the date, the venue, the state it's in and how many people need hair done, because a summer wedding in Kingscliff runs on NSW daylight saving time.

  • Race-day and event styling with early starts

January brings the Magic Millions raceday at the Aquis Gold Coast Turf Club, which in 2026 included Fashions on the Field; the 2027 raceday is on Saturday 9 January. An events page can say how early you'll open, how many people you can style before they need to leave, whether you'll work around a headpiece they bring, and what deposit holds a group booking.

  • A quick route for visitors who need you this week

Someone staying in Surfers Paradise for five days won't read a long about page. Give them a short visitor section: the services that suit a short stay, such as a blow-dry, a fringe trim or an up-style, how far ahead the calendar usually fills, whether you take walk-ins, and the nearest tram stop or car park. Keep the Book now button beside it.

  • A notice line for days the weather shuts you

When ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred came through in March 2025, schools across affected parts of south-east Queensland closed and more than 300,000 homes and businesses lost power. On days like that, a short notice at the top of the site saying you're closed, or opening late, stops the phone calls you can't answer. Email us the wording and it's up as a text change under hosting; your booking system handles the rescheduling.

  • Stylists, levels and the days they're on

A regular who has found the right stylist wants to book that person again, so give each one a profile: a photo, their level, what they do best (blondes, curls, short cuts, bridal), the days they work and, where your system allows it, a direct link to their diary. Holiday visitors use the same profiles to pick someone whose work in the gallery matches what they want.

Running a salon on the Gold Coast: state rules, the border and the calendar

The Queensland rules are explained in full on our Brisbane hair salon page. In short, the City of Gold Coast (opens in a new tab) doesn't license hairdressing or beauty therapy such as manicures, pedicures, artificial nails and waxing, but those services must still follow the Infection Control Guidelines for Personal Appearance Services. It licenses the higher-risk end, such as tattooing and body piercing, and operators need the infection control unit HLTINF005. The Australian Government's ABLIS listing for that licence (opens in a new tab) also names cosmetic tattooing, semi-permanent make-up, cosmetic injectables and tattoo removal, and says a mobile operator offering those services has to notify the council area it's going to work in, in writing, at least seven days beforehand. That matters to any bridal team that adds semi-permanent brows to a package.

The border runs through the southern end of the city. Tweed Heads (opens in a new tab) is the twin town of Coolangatta, and its urban area stretches south along the coast to Hastings Point, taking in Kingscliff, so a Gold Coast salon's wedding bookings can easily take it into New South Wales. NSW law is different: under the Hairdressers Act 2003, NSW Fair Trading (opens in a new tab) says unqualified people can't act as hairdressers for a fee, apart from apprentices working under a qualified person's supervision, and NSW Health (opens in a new tab) treats waxing as skin penetration that needs council registration, as our Sydney salon page explains. If your team works across the border, check what applies before the bridal page promises it. Time is the other difference. NSW daylight saving (opens in a new tab) runs from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 and Queensland doesn't change its clocks, so between those dates a 3pm ceremony in Kingscliff is 2pm on the salon clock. Wedding timelines on the site and in enquiry replies should say which time they mean.

Getting around changed this year. The Queensland Government opened the Stage 3 extension (opens in a new tab) on Sunday 9 August 2026, adding 6.7 kilometres and eight stations: Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Beach South, Nobby Beach, Miami North, Miami, Christine Avenue, Second Avenue and Burleigh Heads. Pacific Fair (opens in a new tab), in Broadbeach Waters, is a short walk from Broadbeach South station. Translink's 50 cent flat fare (opens in a new tab) applies on the tram, buses and trains across South East Queensland, so for a visitor staying near the line, the tram is the cheap way to an appointment. Away from it, say where to park, and allow for the length of a colour appointment rather than the length of a timed bay.

A few dates are particular to the coast. The Gold Coast Show holiday (opens in a new tab) falls on Friday 28 August 2026 in the City of Gold Coast, while Logan, just to the north, has its show holiday on 10 August and Brisbane on 12 August, so a salon near the Logan boundary may see clients with different days off. The Magic Millions raceday (opens in a new tab) at the Aquis Gold Coast Turf Club is on Saturday 9 January 2027, and Fashions on the Field (opens in a new tab) was part of the 2026 raceday. Then there's the weather: as Cyclone Alfred (opens in a new tab) approached in March 2025, Gold Coast Airport stopped operating at 4pm on 5 March, and the system, by then a tropical low, didn't cross the mainland near Brisbane until the night of 8 March, so the disruption ran over several days. Home studios are a planning question as well. The City of Gold Coast lists small-scale beauty or hairdressing services (opens in a new tab) as an example of a home-based business, says one may need development approval, and mentions requirements such as limited hours, signage restrictions and minimal impact on neighbours.

We're an Adelaide team and work with Gold Coast businesses by phone and email. None of our clients is on the Gold Coast, and we haven't built a salon site yet. Our Queensland clients are a licensed plumber and gas fitter and a dance school on Brisbane's bayside, and the work below draws on the plumber's site and a South Australian charter business.

A Queensland site we've built, and one that takes bookings from visitors

We haven't built a hair salon site. These two show the parts a Gold Coast salon would use: a photo gallery that swipes on a phone, and a booking request form with gift vouchers for people planning a trip.

Home page of the M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas website

M.J. Debney Plumbing & Gas

Trades & construction · Queensland

A licensed Queensland plumber and gas fitter. One page holds a six-service overview, a 13-photo project gallery that swipes on mobile, client testimonials, a protected contact form and tap-to-call. For a salon, the project photos become finished colours and cuts, and the testimonials become comments from clients who've agreed to be quoted.

Home page of the Cape Fishing Charters website

Cape Fishing Charters

Community, creative & tourism · Cape Jervis

Full-day fishing charters from Cape Jervis in South Australia, run for beginners through to experienced anglers. The one-page site takes booking requests and gift voucher requests, with a catch photo gallery, an FAQ, customer reviews and an embedded map. Holidaymakers choosing a salon follow the same path: look at the photos, read the answers, then request a time or buy a voucher for someone else.

“They were very helpful and envisioned exactly what I was wanting for my website. They created the site very promptly and cost efficient.”

Questions Gold Coast salon owners ask us

Do Gold Coast salons need a council licence?

For hair, waxing and nails, no; those are non-higher-risk services in Queensland, though Queensland Health's infection control guidelines still apply. Tattooing, semi-permanent make-up, piercing beyond closed ear or nose piercing and cosmetic injectables are higher-risk services that need a City of Gold Coast licence. Our Brisbane salon page covers the state rules, and council's personal appearance services page (opens in a new tab) has the details.

We do weddings in Kingscliff and Byron. What should the site say?

The area you travel to, how travel and early starts are charged, and times written in the venue's local time from October to April, since NSW is an hour ahead then. NSW also has its own rules on who can do hair for a fee and on waxing, so check them before the page lists services you'd perform over the border. We set out the details you supply.

Can a race-day group book together and pay a deposit online?

If your booking system handles group bookings and deposits, the events page links straight to that service. If you'd rather have booking and payment built into your own site, we quote that per job. A simple start is an enquiry form asking for the date, the number of people, the time they need to leave and whether they're bringing a headpiece, so you can confirm the times before anyone pays.

We're near one of the new tram stations. Is that worth putting on the site?

Yes. Name the station, which side of the highway you're on and the walk in minutes, and put that line next to the Book now button and in your booking confirmation. Add parking for clients who drive, with a spot that suits a long colour. If your directions mention a stop that has since changed, that's a text change covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

You're in Adelaide. How does a Gold Coast salon work with you?

By phone and email, fitted around the salon day: a call before the first client or after close, and emails you can answer between appointments. We're a web design team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, Adelaide, with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, none of them on the Gold Coast. You approve the draft before you pay anything, and we reply within 24 hours.

Ready to start your Gold Coast salon website?

Send us your price list, your booking link, your stylists' names and days, the tram stop or car park you'd send people to, and a few photos of finished work, plus your travel area if you do weddings. We'll quote, build the draft, and you pay only once you approve it.
