Queensland's trade licensing doesn't change on the Fraser Coast. Builders, plumbers and most other trades are licensed through the QBCC and electrical contractors separately, and the advertising rules for both reach websites: the licensed name, a statement that you're licensed and the licence number have to appear. Our Brisbane tradies page has the detail, and on a Hervey Bay site we print it in the footer at a size people can actually read.
Fraser Coast Regional Council was formed on 15 March 2008 from the cities of Hervey Bay and Maryborough, the Shire of Woocoo and the northern part of the Shire of Tiaro, and it takes in K'gari. It covers about 7,105 km² and had an estimated 122,924 residents in June 2025, up 2,573 in a year. Deaths outnumbered births by 562, so the growth came from new arrivals: a net 2,690 from elsewhere in Australia and 445 from overseas. Booral – River Heads grew fastest, by 6.1%, followed by Burrum – Fraser at 3.4%. Among Australian council areas with more than 50,000 residents, only the Mid-Coast in New South Wales had an older median age.
That age profile is why Home Assist Secure matters to local trades. The state-funded service helps people aged 60 or over, or of any age with a disability, who hold a Pensioner Concession Card and can't do the work themselves. It subsidises handyperson jobs, licensed electrical and plumbing work, yard maintenance, minor modifications such as grab rails and easy-turn taps, smoke alarm installation and minor security work, and the provider arranges each job using its own staff or a local tradesperson. It also refers older residents to reputable tradespeople. A site that names those jobs plainly is easy to find, whichever route the customer comes by.
K'gari has been on the World Heritage List since 1992. In late 2020 a bushfire that began on 14 October from an illegal campfire burned for about two months and blackened more than half the island. The vehicle ferries leave from River Heads, whose population grew from 1,539 in 2016 to 2,044 in 2021. On the mainland, manufacturing of a new fleet of passenger trains started at the purpose-built Torbanlea factory near Maryborough in June 2026, and the state expects nearly 200 blue-collar and 100 white-collar jobs there once production is in full swing. Hervey Bay itself had 57,722 residents at the 2021 census and is about 29.6 km from Maryborough.
One thing the coast doesn't share with towns further north is state resilience-grant money. The Household Resilience Program's eligibility page says the Fraser Coast council area is outside Cyclone Region C and so isn't eligible, and the Stronger Homes Grant's list of eligible council areas doesn't include it either, so a site here shouldn't promise grant-funded work. We're an Adelaide team and work with Fraser Coast trades by phone and email: we talk through your services and areas, you send your licence number and photos, and the draft arrives as a link you can open on a phone or a desktop.
