Website Design for Tradies in Darwin

Websites for sparkies, plumbers, builders, roofers, arborists and air conditioning techs across Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area. Your NT licence details sit where customers look, your suburbs are grouped from Larrakeyah to Humpty Doo, and the cyclone-season and termite work you take on is spelled out.

What a Darwin trade website has to show

Greater Darwin is a compact city, a satellite city and a wide rural fringe under three councils. Its trades work through a six-month cyclone season and around the giant northern termite, which the Territory's building code singles out for extra protection. Before they ring, customers want to know you're licensed under the Territory's rules, that you come out to their part of the Top End, and that you do the particular job they need.

  • NT licence details where customers look

Since 1 July 2026, an electrical contractor's advertising has to carry the name it is licensed under or its registered business name, a statement that it is licensed and its contractor licence number. A builder trading as a company has to name its registered director or nominee. We put these in the footer of every page and beside the quote form, with your Building Practitioners Board, plumbing or electrical numbers written exactly as your licence shows them.

  • The city, the northern suburbs, Palmerston and the rural area

We sort your suburbs into four groups: Larrakeyah, Stuart Park, Parap, Fannie Bay and the rest near the city; the northern suburbs from Nightcliff and Rapid Creek out to Leanyer and Lyons; Palmerston, from Bakewell and Rosebery to Zuccoli and Johnston; and Litchfield localities such as Howard Springs, Humpty Doo, Virginia and Coolalinga. Someone in Karama or Bellamack finds their group without scrolling through forty names.

  • Bore, tank and acreage jobs spelled out

Most Litchfield properties draw water from their own bore, and much of the municipality is rural or rural-residential land. If you repair bore pumps, fit pressure systems and tanks, run long fence lines or wire sheds, give that work its own section and say how far out you travel, so an owner past Howard Springs knows before picking up the phone.

  • Jobs to book before 1 November

The cyclone season runs from 1 November to 30 April. When Marcus came through in March 2018, thousands of trees fell across Greater Darwin, many of them African mahoganies planted after Tracy. Arborists, roofers and electricians who cut branches back from houses, check roof fixings or fit generator inlets can list those jobs on a page that says when bookings open for the coming season.

  • Termite protection in plain terms

Under the Territory's variations to the building code, homes where the giant northern termite is prevalent need extra termite risk management. Builders can say which management system goes into their slabs and extensions, and pest controllers can explain what an inspection covers, in words an owner who has never heard of Mastotermes understands.

  • Split-system and electrical licences side by side

If your electricians also install split systems, that work needs a refrigerant handling licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council on top of the electrical licence. A refrigeration mechanic who isn't an electrician can hold a Territory restricted electrical licence with an air-conditioning and refrigeration endorsement for the disconnect-and-reconnect side. We show each number with what it covers, so a customer comparing quotes for a new system can see you hold everything the job calls for.

NT licensing, Top End weather and the three councils

Here is how trade licensing works in the Territory. Builders are registered by the Building Practitioners Board under the Building Act 1993. Building a house (class 1a) or a class 2 building, along with any attached class 10 structure built at the same time, needs a building contractor registered in the residential (restricted) or residential (unrestricted) category once the work is worth $25,000 or more. That threshold rose from $12,000 on 30 March 2026, and renovations that add no floor area, and freestanding sheds and garages, sit outside it. When a company carries out building work, the Act requires the name of its registered director or nominee to appear in all of its advertisements relating to the work. For prescribed residential building work, a builder can't ask for or take a deposit or any other payment until an authorised residential building insurance policy or a fidelity certificate is in force and the customer has been given the policy document or a copy of the certificate. Plumbers and drainers are licensed separately, by the Plumbers and Drainers Licensing Board.

Electrical work has come under the Electrical Safety Act 2022 since 1 July 2024, with licensing handled by the Electrical Safety Regulator within NT WorkSafe. From 1 July 2026, an electrical contractor who advertises must state the name it is licensed under or its registered business name, that it is licensed under the Act, and its electrical contractor licence number. The rule leaves out only an employee's uniform, the contractor's vehicles and its own buildings or structures, so on a website we show all three details on every page. Air conditioning installers also need a refrigerant handling licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council, a national licence held alongside the Territory one. Questions about your own licence class belong with NT WorkSafe or the board that issued it; our part is putting the details where customers will see them.

At June 2025 the City of Darwin had about 90,000 residents across 111 km², with the airport and RAAF Base Darwin between the older suburbs near the city and the northern suburbs. Palmerston had about 43,200, with Zuccoli, Johnston and Mitchell on its outskirts. Litchfield covers 2,903 km² of mostly rural and rural-residential land with about 24,800 people, and its council says the majority of properties provide their own water from a bore. In the ABS estimates for 2024–25, Berrimah grew 22.5%, the fastest in Greater Darwin; the Northcrest estate there is planned for up to 2,000 lots. Howard Springs grew 3.2%. That year the City of Darwin also gained 2,235 people from overseas while 1,602 more people moved to other parts of Australia than arrived from them, so each year a fair share of households are new to town and don't yet have a tradie they call.

The tropical cyclone season runs from 1 November to 30 April, and the wet is preceded by the humid build-up. Cyclone Tracy crossed Darwin in the early hours of Christmas Day 1974; the Bureau of Meteorology estimates 60–70% of the city's houses were damaged beyond repair, and Darwin was rebuilt to tougher building codes. Marcus, a weak category 2 cyclone, crossed the coast at Darwin on 17 March 2018, bringing down thousands of trees and leaving about 26,000 homes without power. Power and Water Corporation, owned by the NT Government, runs the electricity network from Darwin to south of Katherine and manages water and sewerage, and the Territory's building code variations add termite measures wherever Mastotermes darwiniensis is prevalent.

We're an Adelaide team, and we haven't yet built for a Northern Territory business. Adelaide and Darwin both run on Australian Central Standard Time, but the Territory doesn't use daylight saving, so from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April, Adelaide is an hour ahead. We book calls in your time. The rest happens by phone and email: you send your own words about the work, your licence numbers, the suburbs and localities you cover and your job photos, and we send a draft link you can open on site.

Trade websites covering a lot of ground

Our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD. These two trade sites deal with what a Darwin one has to: a service area split into distinct parts, and work that is best proven with photos.

Home page of the Bright Building & Renovations website

Bright Building & Renovations

Trades & construction · Adelaide, Adelaide Hills & Fleurieu

A licensed renovation builder in South Australia whose 30-page site gives each of its seven service areas, across Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills and the Fleurieu, a page of its own. The same layout would give the city, the northern suburbs, Palmerston and Litchfield a page each.

Home page of the Tomi's Bobcat and Excavation website

Tomi's Bobcat and Excavation

Trades & construction · South Pambula & Bega Valley

Bobcat and excavator operators in South Pambula and the Bega Valley, NSW, doing earthworks, structural landscaping and licensed pool building. Their single page leans on a 42-photo gallery that swipes on a phone, which suits trades on rural blocks where the finished job does the convincing.

Questions from Top End tradies

What does an NT electrician's website need to show now?

Since 1 July 2026, an electrical contractor's advertising has to give the name its licence is held under or its registered business name, say that it is licensed under the Electrical Safety Act 2022, and give the electrical contractor licence number. We put those three details in the footer of every page and next to the quote form. If you're unsure how the rule applies to you, ask NT WorkSafe, and we'll set the site up to match their answer.

Our building company is registered with the Building Practitioners Board. Whose name goes on the site?

The Building Act says a company working as a building contractor must have the name of its registered individual, a director or nominee registered in that category, in all of its advertisements relating to the work. We show that person's name with the company's registration details in the footer and on the about page, so it appears wherever the site talks about building work.

We're based in Palmerston. Is it worth listing the rural area?

If you go out there, yes. Litchfield is its own council with its own locality names, and people in Humpty Doo or Virginia search for those names rather than Darwin. List the localities you cover, say whether there's a minimum job size or travel charge, and mention bore and tank work if you do it.

Can our site say we get homes ready for cyclone season?

Describe the jobs you actually do, such as cutting branches back from the house, refixing roof sheeting or servicing shutters, and when you take bookings for them before 1 November. Leave household planning to SecureNT, the Territory's emergency information site, and link to it rather than writing your own checklist. Updating that wording each season is a text change covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

How does an Adelaide team work with a Darwin tradie?

By phone and email. WebCraft Studio is an Adelaide (South Australia) web design team with current clients in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, so a Darwin trade would be our first in the Territory. You pay what anyone else pays: $399 for one page, $899 for up to 3 pages and $1,499 for up to 8, no GST added, and nothing until you approve the draft.
