Website Design for Roofers in Sydney

Websites for Sydney roof tilers, slaters and roof plumbers that show the licence category a careful owner looks up, what happens when you're called after a hailstorm, and whether you quote for strata committees and heritage terraces, with one tap to call from any page.

What a Sydney roofing website has to answer

Roofing calls in Sydney arrive in waves. One bad storm sends thousands of owners to their phones on the same evening, and for months afterwards many of them are comparing quotes for the permanent fix. In between come strata managers chasing a leak over a top-floor unit and owners of old houses who want their tiles or slate matched. Each of them lands on your site with a different question.

  • The licence category, not just a number

NSW treats roof tiling, roof slating and roof plumbing as separate licence categories, so a tiling licence doesn't cover slate and a roof plumbing licence doesn't cover terracotta. We show each category you hold beside its number and the licensee's name in the footer, so an owner who runs your number through Service NSW's free licence check finds the same details your site gives.

  • A storm notice you can switch on

When a hail or wind warning goes out, a banner across every page can say whether you're taking make-safe jobs, which parts of Sydney you can reach this week, and that anyone with a dangerous roof should ring the NSW SES on 132 500 first. Text changes are part of hosting, so it goes up and comes down with an email.

  • Insurance jobs explained in one paragraph

Councils such as the City of Ryde tell residents to speak to their insurer before authorising any building work, emergency repairs included. Say whether you supply a written scope of works and dated photos for the assessor, and whether you'll talk to the insurer directly. It's the first thing a storm-damaged owner wants to know.

  • A section aimed at strata managers

On a strata building the roof and gutters are normally common property, looked after by the owners corporation. Explain how you quote for a committee, what your inspection report includes, how you arrange access through a building manager and what insurance details you can send, and you give strata managers a reason to add you to their contractor list.

  • Heritage roofs, if that's your work

If you match old terracotta, re-slate terraces or replace gutters to original profiles, show those jobs with the suburb in each caption. Owners of heritage-listed houses search for exactly that, and a note that you can provide the details their council asks for before like-for-like work makes their next step clearer.

  • Working at height, shown in your photos

An owner watching someone climb onto a two-storey roof thinks about what happens if they slip. SafeWork NSW names unprotected edges, fragile surfaces and losing grip on steep or sloping roofs among the hazards, and calls guardrail edge protection the best control where the work can't be done from the ground. Job photos that show your scaffold and edge protection answer the question without a word.

Roofing in Sydney: NSW licences, hail history and who owns the roof

Roof work in NSW is licensed by type. Roof tiling covers fixing roof tiles, with bedding and pointing, flashing valleys, sarking and battens; roof slating covers slates, shingles and shakes, real or imitation; and roof plumbing covers roof coverings, gutters, downpipes and flashings, but not coverings made of non-metallic tiles, slate, glass, concrete, timber or membrane. Skylights, ventilators and protective coatings that don't change the structure sit inside each category. The NSW Government says you need a contractor licence to carry out, advertise or contract for residential work in these categories worth more than $5,000 in labour and materials, including GST; applications start at Service NSW, and Building Commission NSW answers questions about them. NSW Fair Trading's advertising rules, which list the internet among the media they apply to, ask for the licensee's name, the licence number with the correct category of work and a business phone number.

Contracts follow the home building rules. A job over $5,000 needs a written contract, the deposit can't be more than 10 percent, and above $20,000 it needs a large job contract. Where the work must be covered by the Home Building Compensation scheme, it's illegal for the contractor to ask for a deposit before that cover is taken out, and the owner must be given a certificate of it. A reroof can pass $20,000 quickly, so a short "how we quote" section that mentions the contract and the certificate reads as honest rather than salesy.

Hail is part of Sydney's roofing history. On the evening of 14 April 1999 a storm dropped hailstones the size of cricket balls across 85 suburbs and damaged about 20,000 houses, roofs and skylights included; the worst-hit areas included Kensington, Kingsford, Botany, Mascot, Randwick and Paddington, and insured losses came to $1.7 billion at the time. The thunderstorms of 20 December 2018 brought NSW SES another 6,314 requests for assistance, with the most significant damage across Greater Sydney. NSW SES puts storm season between September and April, although major storms can happen at any time of year, and its storm season advice includes fixing broken or missing tiles and leaks and cleaning gutters, downpipes and drains. That's the case for a pre-season roof check offer on your home page each spring. Storm recovery also brings warnings about who gets onto the roof: in March 2025, after ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, the Minister for Building told NSW residents to be wary of unsolicited repair offers from people posing as tradespeople and to check a licence with Service NSW's free tool before hiring. A licence number on your site that matches the register answers that worry straight away.

Apartments and townhouses change who calls you. More than 1.2 million people in NSW live in strata, and the NSW Government's strata guidance lists roofs and gutters among the common property that an owners corporation must repair and maintain, with major work forecast in a 10-year capital works plan. Since late 2025 NSW Fair Trading has been able to issue compliance notices to owners corporations that fall behind on common property repairs. Heritage adds another layer: on land covered by the Sydney LEP 2012, the City of Sydney asks for an exemption request before like-for-like work on a heritage item or a building in a conservation area, and gives replacing rusty gutters and downpipes to match original details as an example. Other councils have their own heritage rules, so the site should tell owners to check theirs.

Sydney owners search by suburb, and a roofer's reach after a storm is smaller than for a planned reroof. We'd list a tight zone for leak and make-safe call-outs and a wider one for restorations and new roofs, named the way locals say them, from the Sutherland Shire and St George to the Hills and the Northern Beaches. We're an Adelaide team on Hutt St and work with Sydney businesses by phone and email; Western Sydney Stump Grinding, which takes emergency calls across Greater Sydney, is one of them. You send your licence details, suburbs and roof photos, we send a draft link, and you pay once you approve it.

Trade sites we've built close to roofing

We haven't built a site for a Sydney roofer yet. Western Sydney Stump Grinding works the way a roofer does after a storm: a Sydney trade business answering urgent calls around the clock. SA Painting Professionals in Adelaide includes roof painting among its services and needed a page for each one.

Questions Sydney roofers ask us

Which licence details should a Sydney roofer's website show?

Every category you hold, each with its number: roof tiling, roof slating, roof plumbing, or general building work if you have it. NSW Fair Trading's guidance on building trade ads asks for the licensee's name, the licence number with the correct category of work and a business phone number, and it applies online. We put those in the footer of every page.

Can we put a storm notice on the site when hail hits?

Yes. Email us what it should say: that you're booked out for a fortnight, that you're doing make-safe work only for now, or which suburbs you can still reach. Text changes on existing pages are included in the $30 monthly hosting, and we reply within 24 hours.

Should the site mention the SES?

A line helps. NSW SES asks people to call 132 500 for emergency help during a storm, and Triple Zero if a life is at risk. Pointing frightened callers there when a roof is unsafe, then explaining what you'll do once it's safe to get up, shows you understand how storm recovery works in NSW.

Is a strata page worth having?

If you quote for owners corporations, yes. The roof of a strata building is usually common property, so the person searching is often a strata manager or committee member rather than a single owner. A page covering your reports, insurance details and how you arrange access gives them what they need to put your quote to the committee.

Can an Adelaide team build a website for a Sydney roofer?

Yes. We're a web design team in Adelaide and work with businesses Australia-wide by phone and email; our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, including Western Sydney Stump Grinding. You send your licence details, suburbs and photos, we build the draft, you ask for changes, and you pay once you approve it.
