Website Design for Plumbers in Perth

Websites for Perth plumbers and gas fitters that show your PL number the way WA's regulations ask, make clear which side of the river you work, and give someone with a leaking hot water unit one button to ring you.

What a Perth plumbing website needs

Picture three people looking for a Perth plumber: one with water where it shouldn't be, one whose hot water unit has given up, and a property owner holding a Water Corporation reminder that a backflow test is due. Each of those customers should find their answer on your site within a scroll, along with proof that you hold a WA licence.

  • Your PL number, beside the name it's issued to

WA plumbing licences are issued to individuals, so the public register shows the contractor's own name rather than the trading name on the van. We put the two together in the footer and the contact section, with the words licensed plumbing contractor and the PL number, so a customer who checks the register finds a match.

  • Hot water replacements, with the paperwork explained

Swapping a water heater counts as major plumbing work in WA, which means a notice of intention to the Plumbers Licensing Board and a certificate of compliance once it's done. One sentence on your hot water section saying you look after both answers a question careful customers ask when they compare quotes.

  • Gas work under its own heading

Gas fitting in WA has its own permit, issued separately from your plumbing licence, with Class G covering most domestic and commercial gas work. If you hold one, cooktop, heater and gas hot water connections get their own heading, and the permit number is shown apart from your PL number so nobody has to guess which covers which job.

  • Backflow testing for owners and building managers

Testable backflow devices at the property boundary, including every fire service, have to be tested every 12 months, and Water Corporation sends the property owner a reminder. If you're an accredited tester, a short section aimed at those owners, with a form asking for the address and the number of devices, puts you in front of that work.

  • Suburbs grouped north and south of the river

Perth people describe where they live by which side of the Swan they're on, or as the western suburbs or the hills. Grouping your suburbs under those headings, with a line on where you stop, tells a caller in Butler or Byford straight away whether you'll come to them.

  • After-hours calls and what they cost

A burst flexi hose at 10pm is a phone call, not a form. The call button stays at the top of every screen, and next to it one line says whether you take after-hours jobs and how they're charged, so the caller isn't surprised and you aren't answering calls you'd rather not take.

Plumbing in Perth: the WA rules your website should reflect

Plumbing work in WA can only be done by people licensed by the Plumbers Licensing Board. Building and Energy handles applications and runs the public licence search, and since 1 July 2025 it has sat within the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety. A plumbing contractor's licence lets the holder carry out and supervise plumbing work; a tradesperson's licence covers work under a contractor's direction; and a restricted plumbing permit lets gas fitters, electricians and some other trades do particular plumbing tasks. Regulation 25 of the Plumbers Licensing and Plumbing Standards Regulations 2000 says a licensed plumbing contractor or permit holder must make sure the licence or permit number appears in any advertisement for the business, and spells out that business cards and letterheads count. Regulation 25A extends the same rule to business documents such as written quotes and invoices. We treat your website as advertising and show the number on every page.

On the public search, plumbing contractor numbers begin with PL. Because plumbing licences are only issued to individuals, the register lists the responsible contractor's name even when the business trades under another one. If the name on your ute and the name on the register don't obviously match, a cautious customer can be left wondering, so we show your trading name and the licensee's name side by side, with a link to the Building and Energy licence search for anyone who wants to check.

Two kinds of WA paperwork come up on everyday jobs. Under the same regulations, minor plumbing work doesn't include replacing a water heater or a testable backflow device, so those jobs count as major plumbing work: the contractor gives the Board a notice of intention at least 24 hours before starting (or with the certificate, for emergency work), then a certificate of compliance within 5 working days of finishing, with a copy to the owner or occupier (or to the builder, if the job is under a building permit). Gas is separate again. Gasfitting permits are issued by the Director of Energy Safety, and for fixed installations the fitter completes a notice of completion for the gas supplier, which can be lodged online through the state's free eNotice system.

Backflow in Perth is Water Corporation's territory. Testable devices at the boundary of medium and high-risk properties, and on all fire services, must be tested when they're commissioned, after any maintenance and every 12 months by an accredited tester, with the test report lodged online within 5 working days. Keeping them tested is the owner's or occupier's job, and maintenance on them may only be done by a licensed plumbing contractor, so a property owner holding a reminder letter is a customer already looking for a plumber.

The metropolitan region takes in 30 local government areas, but customers rarely think in councils. They say they're north of the river or south of it, in the western suburbs, or up in the hills, which cover parts of Mundaring, Kalamunda and Swan. Headings like those, with the suburbs you want work from listed underneath, make a clearer service area than a line saying all Perth metro. We're an Adelaide team and we work with Perth plumbers by phone and email. We haven't built for a WA business yet, so the examples below come from Queensland and South Australia.

Questions Perth plumbers ask us

Which licence number does a Perth plumber need on their website?

Your plumbing contractor's licence number, which begins with PL on Building and Energy's search. Regulation 25 requires it in any advertisement for the business, so we show it on every page. Because the register lists the licensee's own name, we show that alongside your trading name. If you also hold a gasfitting permit, we show it as well, labelled separately.

Should our hot water page mention the certificate of compliance?

We'd suggest one line. Replacing a water heater is major plumbing work in WA, so the contractor gives the Plumbers Licensing Board a notice of intention at least 24 hours beforehand (or with the certificate, for emergency work) and a certificate of compliance within 5 working days of finishing, and the owner or occupier gets a copy. Saying you handle both tells a customer comparing quotes what they're paying for.

Is a backflow testing page worth having in Perth?

If you're an accredited tester and want the work, it can be. Water Corporation requires testable boundary devices, and every fire service, to be tested every 12 months, and it sends the property owner a reminder when a test is due. A page aimed at those owners, with a form asking for the address and how many devices are on site, suits the 3-page site at $899.

How should we show which suburbs we cover across Perth?

Group them the way customers describe where they live: north of the river, south of the river, the western suburbs and the hills. List the suburbs you actually want work from under each heading and add one line on where you stop. The list can change whenever you like, because text changes on existing pages are covered by the $30 monthly hosting.

You're in Adelaide. How does a Perth plumbing website get built?

By phone and email. You send your services, licence details, suburbs and a few job photos, we build a draft you can open on your phone between jobs, and you ask for changes until it's right. You pay only once you approve it. Perth runs 1.5 hours behind Adelaide, and 2.5 hours behind from October to April while South Australia has daylight saving. We reply within 24 hours.
