How Much Does a Website Cost in Newcastle?

Newcastle agencies publish prices from $2,750 plus GST for a single page to $25,000 and more for custom builds, while a national cost guide says most small businesses here pay $2,000–$6,000. Here's what sits behind those numbers, what the GST line and support rates add, and what we charge.

Two Newcastle agencies we looked at publish package prices, both plus GST, and a national cost-guide site has a Newcastle page. Here's what they showed in October 2026.

The two agencies' entry prices are well above the cost guide's typical range, and that's not a contradiction. The guide describes what most small businesses end up paying across all kinds of provider, while those agencies are pricing their own process, which includes things like analytics set-up, stock imagery, training and post-launch support.

Rates below Sydney's, briefs that increasingly match

The cost guide's Newcastle page says local rates sit below Sydney's while the briefs, more and more, don't. Its explanation is the mix of businesses here. Engineering, industrial and mining-services firms need capability and project pages that buyers use to shortlist suppliers, which pushes them into its $6,000–$15,000 custom tier. Allied health clinics near the health precinct need practitioner pages and online booking, which lands them in the same tier, with the booking subscription billed on top. Intake forms linked to practice software, or customer logins, move a job into the $15,000–$40,000 integrated tier.

Its Newcastle examples show the spread: a launch page for a business in Kotara at $800–$3,000, an allied health clinic with booking at $6,000–$15,000, and an industrial supplier with a customer portal and CRM at $15,000–$40,000. The guide also notes what moves a quote either way. More project pages, technical writing, on-site photography and each connected system push it up. Supplying your own project details and ready-to-use images brings it down.

What features add to a Hunter quote

The city-centre agency's April 2026 cost guide prices individual WordPress features, which helps explain how a quote grows. A few of its ranges:

  • advanced forms with conditional logic, several steps or file uploads: $500–$1,500;
  • online booking and appointments: $1,500–$5,000;
  • interactive maps of service areas or locations: $1,500–$4,000;
  • content in more than one language: $2,000–$7,000;
  • a site built to support competitive tendering: $25,000–$40,000.

Ours work differently. On our $1,499 site, custom forms, a photo gallery and Google Analytics set-up come with the package, and every package includes a contact form. Simple Engineers, an Adelaide structural engineering client, has a quote form with fee ranges and file uploads, four service pages and 16 articles. For online booking and payments built into the site, we quote the work per job once we know how your bookings run, or we link a system you already use, such as HotDoc, Cliniko or Calendly.

The "+ GST" line

Every Newcastle agency price in the table is plus GST. A business must register for GST once its GST turnover reaches $75,000. Registered businesses can generally claim back the GST in what they buy for the business. If you're not registered, you can't, so the 10% is a real cost:

  • $2,750 + GST is $3,025 to an unregistered sole trader;
  • $4,200 + GST is $4,620;
  • $7,500 + GST is $8,250.

We aren't registered for GST, so nothing is added to our prices. That makes little difference to a registered business, which can generally claim the GST back, but it matters to a new or part-time business under the threshold.

Support by the hour, or changes included

The city-centre agency's hosting and maintenance costs $39 + GST a month for a single-page site and $70 + GST a month for a standard site. Work on the site after launch is billed at $175 + GST an hour, with a turnaround of one to three working days, or $200 + GST an hour for priority work within four hours. The Wickham agency's hosting starts at $49 a month. Here's how three years compare for a one-page site:

Three years of a one-page site, before domain fees
ItemNewcastle agency single pageOur one-page site
Build$2,750 + GST$399
Hosting, 36 months$1,404 + GST$1,080
Changes after launch$175 + GST an hourText and image changes included
Three years, before changes$4,154 + GST$1,479

That agency's single page includes basic on-page SEO, analytics and Search Console set-up, stock imagery and a 30-day warranty after launch, and some businesses will value those. With us, the $30 a month covers hosting, security monitoring, backups, email support and unlimited text and image changes on your existing pages. New pages or features are quoted before we start. If you're comparing what monthly fees should cover, our hosting guide lists it.

Pricing a site that covers the Hunter

The NSW Government plans Greater Newcastle as five council areas: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens and Cessnock. A business that works across several of them has a choice about how its site handles that, and the choice decides the price. Here's how it maps to ours:

  • One page, $399. Your services, photos and reviews, with the areas you cover listed in the text. Enough for a sole trader starting out.
  • Up to 3 pages, $899. A home page, a services page and a contact page, with your service areas set out on the services page.
  • Up to 8 pages, $1,499. Home, services and contact, plus a page each for Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens and Cessnock, with the suburbs and jobs that apply to each.

Phoenix Housekeeping, a family-run cleaning business working across Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and the Central Coast, took the area-page approach. Its site has published pricing, service pages, suburb pages and a quote form with a discreet call-back option. Area pages only help if each one says something specific, so plan to supply a few lines about the work you do in each place.

When a Newcastle agency is the right call

A higher local quote can be the better buy. A Newcastle agency probably suits you better if:

  • you compete for large contracts through tenders and want a site built for that, which the agency guide prices at $25,000–$40,000, plus someone to write your capability statements;
  • the site has to connect to practice software, give customers a login or feed a CRM;
  • you want a photographer on site at your workshop or clinic, which we don't provide;
  • you want SEO and advertising managed every month by the same firm that built the site.

For a trade, cleaner, cafe or small clinic, most of that is more than the job needs. A fast site that lists your services, the suburbs you work in and an easy way to call or ask for a quote usually does it.

Working with us from Newcastle

We're an Adelaide team at Ste 3/110 Hutt St, and we work with Newcastle businesses by phone and email. New South Wales and South Australia start and finish daylight saving on the same dates, this season from 4 October 2026 to 4 April 2027, so Newcastle stays half an hour ahead of us all year. You send your words and photos, we send a draft link, and you ask for changes until you're happy before you pay anything.

Our New South Wales clients include Phoenix Housekeeping in Lake Macquarie and Resolve Forward, a family dispute resolution practice in Sydney. Resolve Forward's Google review says: “He was incredibly hands-on, always available to answer questions, and made every requested change promptly and without hesitation.”

Newcastle website cost questions

How much does a website cost in Newcastle?

A national cost guide says most Newcastle small businesses pay $2,000–$6,000. Two local agencies publish entry prices of $2,750 plus GST for a single page and $7,500 plus GST for a theme-based site, rising past $25,000 for custom work. Ours are $399, $899 or $1,499 by page count, with no GST added.

Are Newcastle web designers cheaper than Sydney ones?

Their rates tend to be lower, according to a national cost guide, but it says the briefs here are increasingly comparable, especially for engineering, industrial and allied health businesses. Our prices are the same in Newcastle as in Sydney or Adelaide.

Why do Newcastle agency prices say plus GST?

It means 10% is added to the price shown. A GST-registered business can generally claim that GST back, but if your business isn't registered, you pay the extra 10% in full. We aren't registered, so our prices have no GST added.

What do changes cost after the site is live?

With us, text and image changes on your existing pages are included in the $30 monthly hosting, and new pages or features are quoted first. Elsewhere, check the hourly rate: one Newcastle agency charges $175 plus GST an hour for support work.

Can you build a capability site for a Hunter engineering or industrial firm?

Yes, as long as the technical content comes from you. We arrange your capabilities, projects, certifications and photos into the pages and can add a quote form with file uploads. If you need the capability statements written for you, a larger agency is the better fit.

Do you need to visit our premises in Newcastle?

No. Everything runs by phone and email from Adelaide. Phone photos of your premises, team and finished work are fine to start with, and the draft arrives as a link you can check on any device.
