Victoria's rules, briefly. Electrical contractors in Mildura register with Energy Safe Victoria, the REC number goes on all promotional material, so it belongs on your website, and installation work is certified on a Certificate of Electrical Safety, with prescribed work such as a switchboard, a solar system or a battery inspected before it's switched on. Our Melbourne electricians page sets those rules out, along with the two-yearly electrical checks that now apply to every Victorian rental.
A record-breaking summer. On 27 January 2026 Mildura reached 48.6°C. Walpeup, a locality inside the Mildura Rural City Council area, recorded 48.9°C that afternoon, a reading matched at Hopetoun Airport that beat the previous Victorian record of 48.8°C, according to Bureau of Meteorology observations reported by the ABC. On a day like that, someone whose air conditioner has just stopped wants to know within seconds whether you can come, roughly when, and what you'll check first. A site that names breakdown work, and is honest about what you can attend to in a heatwave, does that job better than a long list of everything you're licensed for.
Rental cooling from 2027. Consumer Affairs Victoria's cooling standard starts on 1 March 2027. When a new rental agreement begins, or an existing one moves to month-to-month, a property without fixed cooling needs an energy-efficient fixed cooler in the main living area: a non-ducted air conditioner or heat pump rated 3 stars or more for cooling, or a ducted system with a Total Cooling Seasonal Performance Factor of at least 3.8. From 1 July 2030 every rental needs one, whatever the lease. Evaporative coolers are handled by type. When a ducted evaporative system fails and can't be repaired, the owner can upgrade to a compliant air conditioner or replace it with another ducted evaporative cooler that has an outlet in the main living area. A failed room evaporative cooler or window unit has to make way for a compliant air conditioner. If you install or service either kind, that distinction is worth a clear paragraph for Mildura property managers.
Solar on Powercor's network. Mildura's poles and wires belong to Powercor, which pre-approves solar exports before a system is installed. Some applications come back with a 0 kW export limit, and Powercor now offers those customers a flexible exports connection instead: exports follow the network's real-time capacity, up to the inverter's limit or 10 kW, and participants in its 12-month trial exported freely more than 90 per cent of the time. It needs a reliable internet connection and, for installations since October 2024, a Clean Energy Council-approved inverter that supports CSIP-AUS; a site with several inverters also needs a communications device so exports can be managed for the whole property. A two-line FAQ answers the question a customer asks the moment their pre-approval comes back at zero.
Over the bridge. Buronga, Gol Gol, Dareton and Wentworth belong to Wentworth Shire in New South Wales, and the shire council sends residents to Essential Energy for outage information. Jobs there run on another network and under another state's paperwork: tested electrical work in NSW is recorded on a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work rather than a Victorian certificate. NSW's East Coast Electrician's scheme page lists the NSW licence that matches a Victorian electrician's licence, with a different match for registered contractors and a separate application for anyone who moves their home to NSW; our Albury-Wodonga electricians page sets out both directions. We only publish the credentials you confirm you hold. WebCraft Studio is an Adelaide team, and we work with Sunraysia electricians by phone and email: you send your REC details, towns and job photos, we build a draft you can check on your phone, and you pay once you approve it.
