Website Design for Plumbers in Newcastle

Websites for plumbers and gas fitters working across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens and Cessnock. Someone in Charlestown or Raymond Terrace can see that you come to them, check your licence and ring you from the first screen.

What a Newcastle plumber's website needs

Someone in the Hunter who searches for a plumber in Newcastle might live in Merewether, Warners Bay, East Maitland or Medowie. That's four different council areas, and each of those customers wants to see their own suburb, not a council name.

  • Suburbs sorted by council area

Greater Newcastle is five council areas, and Lake Macquarie has more residents than the City of Newcastle itself. We list your suburbs under headings for Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Port Stephens and Cessnock, so a customer in Toronto or Thornton finds their suburb without guessing what "Newcastle and surrounds" covers.

  • Licence details in the format NSW asks for

Your name or registered business name, your licence number, the categories you hold (plumbing, draining, gasfitting) and a business phone number, in the footer of every page. Those are the details NSW Fair Trading's advertising guidance lists, and they're what a cautious customer looks for.

  • A Hunter Water note that filters calls

Hunter Water says owners look after the sewer pipes on their land right up to where they join its system, and asks people to ring it straight away if the inspection shaft is full or overflowing. Two lines on your site about who handles what means fewer calls about faults in the main.

  • Backflow testing spelled out

Hunter Water wants testable devices commissioned within seven days of installation and tested every year by an accredited tester. If you hold that accreditation, give it its own section so business owners know you can do the annual test.

  • Mains gas and bottled gas both named

If you work on LP gas as well as natural gas, say so in plain words. NSW paperwork differs between the two: a certificate of compliance for network gas, a certificate of inspection for bottled gas. A customer on bottles then knows you'll take the job.

  • Job photos captioned with the suburb

"Hot water replacement, Kotara" or "Sewer repair, Belmont" under a photo shows a nearby customer you've already worked down the road. It also gives the page local wording that reads naturally instead of a block of place names.

Plumbing in Greater Newcastle: licences, Hunter Water and service areas

The NSW Government's metropolitan plan treats Greater Newcastle as five council areas: Cessnock, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Newcastle and Port Stephens. At the 2021 Census, Lake Macquarie had 213,845 residents against the City of Newcastle's 168,873. A customer in Cardiff, Glendale, Rutherford or Medowie may still search for a Newcastle plumber, so a site that names only Newcastle suburbs leaves them guessing. We'd name your base, then group what you cover: inner Newcastle (Cooks Hill, Hamilton, Merewether, The Junction), the western suburbs (Wallsend, Jesmond, Lambton, Beresfield), the lake (Charlestown, Warners Bay, Belmont, Toronto, Swansea, Morisset), Maitland (East Maitland, Thornton, Rutherford), Port Stephens (Raymond Terrace, Medowie, Nelson Bay) and the Cessnock towns, including Kurri Kurri.

A NSW plumbing, draining or gasfitting licence is needed for any job, big or small, residential or commercial. Contractor licences, held by an individual, a company or a partnership, are the ones that allow you to contract for work; qualified supervisor and tradesperson certificates don't. Building Commission NSW is responsible for trade licensing. You need a current contractor licence before you advertise specialist work, and NSW Fair Trading's rules for print and internet ads call for the licensee's name or registered business name, licence number, category of work and a business phone.

Building Commission NSW also handles plumbing inspections in Newcastle and the Hunter, as it does for Sydney, the Illawarra and the Blue Mountains, through its MyInspections Gateway. The plumber lodges a Notice of Work, then a Certificate of Compliance once the work is done, and gives a copy to the owner or builder who arranged it. Drainage jobs also come with a Sewer Service Diagram. Emergency repairs and minor jobs, like replacing tapware or an existing hot water system, don't need a Notice of Work.

Hunter Water supplies Newcastle and the Lower Hunter, and two of its rules are worth a line on a plumber's site. Owners maintain, repair and replace the sewer pipes and fittings on their property up to the connection with Hunter Water's system, and a full or overflowing inspection shaft should be reported to Hunter Water first. For backflow, a new testable device must be commissioned and certified by an accredited tester within seven days, then tested annually. To be accredited, a plumber needs a current Building Commission NSW plumbing contractor licence, a TAFE or RTO backflow certificate sent to Hunter Water, and workers compensation and public liability cover.

We're an Adelaide team on Hutt St and work with NSW businesses by phone and email. One of them is Phoenix Housekeeping, a Morisset cleaning business that works across Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and the Central Coast. You send your services, suburbs and photos, we build a draft link you can check from the ute, and you pay only when you approve it.

Our plumbing and gas client is M.J. Debney in Queensland. Closer to you, Phoenix Housekeeping works across Lake Macquarie, Cessnock and the Central Coast. It isn't a plumber, but its suburb pages and quote form solve the same problem: showing exactly where a business will go.

Questions Newcastle plumbers ask us

How does an Adelaide team work with a plumber in Newcastle?

By phone and email. We're based in Adelaide, South Australia, and work with businesses Australia-wide; our current clients are in SA, NSW, VIC and QLD, including Phoenix Housekeeping in Lake Macquarie. You send your details and photos, we send a draft link, you ask for changes, and you pay once you approve it. We reply within 24 hours.

Should the site say Newcastle, Lake Macquarie or both?

Both, and the others too if you cover them. Lake Macquarie has more residents than the City of Newcastle, and customers search by their own suburb. We'd name your base suburb, group the suburbs you service by council area, and list separately any you'll only travel to for bigger jobs.

What licence details belong on a NSW plumbing website?

NSW Fair Trading's advertising guidance asks for the licensee's name (a registered business name can be used instead), the licence number, the category of work and a business phone number. A website is internet advertising, so those details go in your footer and next to your contact details. If you hold gasfitting as well as plumbing and draining, show each category.

Is Hunter Water backflow testing worth listing?

If you're accredited with Hunter Water, yes. New testable devices must be commissioned within seven days of installation and every device needs an annual test, so the owners of those devices need an accredited tester year after year. It fits as a section on a one-page site, or as its own page on a bigger one.

Should the site mention Certificates of Compliance?

A line is enough: that you lodge the Notice of Work where it's needed, give the owner or builder the Certificate of Compliance, and supply a Sewer Service Diagram after drainage work. It answers a question renovators and builders may have, and it costs nothing to say.
