Website Design for Landscapers in Bendigo

Websites for landscapers across Greater Bendigo, from Strathfieldsaye and Kangaroo Flat to Maiden Gully and Huntly. Show the gardens you've built for hot summers and frosty winters, explain how you work on blocks near the bush, and let clients send photos of their yard with the enquiry.

What a Bendigo landscaper's website should cover

Bendigo gardens see more heat than Melbourne's and more frost as well, plenty of blocks sit close to box-ironbark bush, and a few newer estates water their gardens from a recycled supply. A site that deals with those conditions sounds like it was written by someone who works here.

  • Gardens that have been through a summer

Photos taken a year or two after handover, showing plantings that came through January, persuade more than freshly laid turf. Caption each one with the suburb, the main plants and the season the photo was taken.

  • Bushfire overlay work explained

On land in the Bushfire Management Overlay, a planning permit can come with a Bushfire Management Plan that sets out defendable space around the house. If you build or maintain gardens to those plans, say so and show one; owners on the bush edge will look for it.

  • Irrigation on recycled water

Estates including Evergreen Waters and Evergreen Links in Jackass Flat and Peppercorn Estate in White Hills have Coliban Water's recycled supply alongside drinking water. If you install or service irrigation there, name the estates and say who handles the plumbing side, since Coliban asks owners to use a licensed plumber who knows the property is on recycled water.

  • Local plants, named properly

If you plant locally indigenous species, give their common and botanical names in project captions, and point clients to the City of Greater Bendigo's Indigenous Plants of Bendigo guide if they want to read further.

  • Retaining walls with the permit question covered

Greater Bendigo council needs a building permit for walls 1 m or higher and for walls on or near a boundary at any height. A line on your walls page saying who arranges the permit, or that you work with an engineer, answers the question before it costs you a quote.

  • Towns across Greater Bendigo

List the suburbs and towns you'll travel to, such as Eaglehawk, Epsom, Marong, Axedale or Heathcote, so people outside the central suburbs can see you'll come to them.

State rules in a sentence or two. In Victoria, planting alone isn't domestic building work, but a landscaping job worth more than ten thousand dollars that includes a retaining wall, fence or attached deck needs a practitioner registered with the Building and Plumbing Commission, and the plumbing part of an irrigation system is a registered plumbing class of its own. Our page for Melbourne landscapers explains the registration classes and why your number goes on the site; the rest of this section is about Bendigo.

Both ends of the thermometer. Bureau of Meteorology records for Bendigo Airport since 1991 average about 16 days a year at 35°C or hotter, with January's mean maximum just over 30°C, and about 24 nights a year at or below freezing, most of them from June to August. Melbourne Airport, by comparison, averages 10 days of 35°C or more and about one freezing night. Annual rainfall at Bendigo Airport averages about 510 mm. A garden here has to cope with both extremes, so plant choice and watering are the first things clients ask about.

The Bushfire Management Overlay. When the state redrew the overlay maps in October 2017, the Bendigo Advertiser reported that about 10,600 more Greater Bendigo properties came under it, on top of the 4,800 already covered, most of them north-west of the city, including Maiden Gully and Heathcote. The CFA says development in the overlay comes with a Bushfire Management Plan setting out the construction standard, defendable space, water supply and access for emergency vehicles, and its Landscaping for Bushfire guide covers garden layout and plant selection for these areas.

Recycled water. Coliban Water's Bendigo Recycled Water Factory makes about 3 megalitres a day of Class A water, already used on Rosalind Park, the Bendigo Botanic Gardens and sports grounds including the Queen Elizabeth Oval, and an upgrade due to run from late 2026 to late 2027 will lift that to 10. Coliban lists Evergreen Waters and Evergreen Links in Jackass Flat and Peppercorn Estate in White Hills among new developments with a recycled supply, which it says can water gardens, vegetable gardens included as long as produce is washed in drinking water before eating, and fill water features and ornamental ponds. On mains water, Victoria's Permanent Water Saving Rules limit garden watering systems to between 6pm and 10am.

Plants, walls and how we work. The City of Greater Bendigo and the Bendigo Native Plant Group publish Indigenous Plants of Bendigo, a gardener's guide to the area's box-ironbark and other local plants, now in its third edition (2013). Council's retaining walls page says a building permit is needed for a wall on or near a boundary, a wall 1 m or higher anywhere on the site, or one whose excavation or fill affects the stability of the ground or a neighbouring building. We're an Adelaide team, and Bendigo businesses deal with us by phone and email.

Earthworks and engineering sites we've built

We haven't built for a Bendigo landscaper. The nearest work is an earthmoving and structural landscaping business in the Bega Valley, and an Adelaide structural engineering firm whose site deals with retaining walls, one of the places landscaping and permits meet.

Questions Bendigo landscapers ask us

Many of our clients are in the bushfire overlay. What should the site say?

Describe what you do in those gardens: working to a Bushfire Management Plan, keeping defendable space clear, choosing and spacing plants with fire in mind. Show one finished example. We'd link to the CFA's Landscaping for Bushfire guide for the detail rather than put fire advice on your site.

Should we mention recycled water?

If you install or look after irrigation in estates on Coliban Water's recycled supply, yes: name the estates, say what you do there and who does any plumbing work, with a link to Coliban's page for owners. Where it doesn't apply, a line about watering times under the permanent rules is enough.

Can our site help clients choose local plants?

It can point them the right way. Project captions can name the main plants, common and botanical, and a short planting section can mention the Indigenous Plants of Bendigo guide. We arrange the words you give us; the plant knowledge is yours.

Do retaining walls need a permit in Bendigo?

Council's building page says a permit is needed for walls 1 m or higher, walls on or near a boundary at any height, and walls whose excavation or fill affects ground stability or an adjoining building. We can put a short note on your walls page linking to that council page, so the answer comes from the source.
